  • Again: WHAT ON EARTH makes YOU a Rhomeikos??? Just because YOU are a Turk living in Constantinople, you have no right to call yourself like that. Rhomoi are people who sicked the suffer, pain and the will to survive as Greeks from generations of their ancestors... how DARE you, to insult the name of those people with your ignorant posts and videos?

  • Really really nice and your accent makes it a bit exotic too :-)

  • What on earth makes you a rhomeikos???

  • @Rhomios milas gia ton Kalim... ?

  • Nai, auton ennoousa. An to egrapsa se sena file signomi.

  • @Rhomios Oxi, de to pira gia mena :-) Ola kala. O Kalim... aplos inai ilithios kai kakourgas. Na ton prosexis.

  • I hope you understand what this song means in Greek. It was written at 1890 when the Sultan Abdul Hamid killed in one night 4,000 Armenians thay lived ay the northwest side of Constantinoupolis.

Generally, the lyrics say "goodbye Holly Virgin, it was a bad dream...."

Congratulations on the way you sing...

  • its turkish too

    konstantinoupolis is the write name

    and the song is greek///

  • As much pain as both Greeks and Turks have experienced (especially now with the Ecumenical Patriarchate) throughout history, I still hope one day us Greeks and the Turks can put our past troubles aside and accept each other. Us Greeks must not deny the state of current affairs in Turkey and the Turks cannot deny us Greeks of our great history and that includes our Patriarchate which is still in Constantinople (Istanbul).

  • opa opa estalopa :D greece is my komsu :D fakat kaypaklar aq piç gibi bişiler genede iyileri iyi oluyor. herinsan gibi aynı ama bize kultürel olarak en yakınlar. nedeni ise herşeyi kopyalamaları :)

  • Hello guys. yes the song is really greek. to the turkish i have to say that the greek army was really there because the city was greek and we wont it back. but we where forced in asia minor back from mustafa kemal and his army and after that the greeks had to leave konstantinopolis traezounta and smyrna...very sad history. but i think when turkey doesnt make problems with the ecumenical patriarchate with the imia islands, with cyprus and many other things we maybe were now in a good friendship.

  • I'm just sorry for the past troubles my friend. many bad things happened. we just have to look to future and build a peaceful relationship. and who knows we may live in the same country again someday ?

  • SONG IS GREEKl. To Tragoudi einai Elliniko ............. mono Ellada

  • @FanisTsan so what?

  • Greeks did not HAVE to leave. The Greek army was forced out, Istanbul still has alot of Greeks and alot of Taverna's in Istanbul are run by them and they get along very well with the Turks and enjoy life in Turkey.

  • Ένα απο τα αγαπημένα μου τραγούδια!! =)

  • Greetings!

I wanted to ask your permission to feature your works in a series of projects I am doing on international history. I am presenting one this week in which I would like to include this recording, but I will refrain from doing without consent.

Many thanks, and all of the best to you!

p.s. If it isn't inconvenient, would you be able to tell me how to find the English translation of this song? I have made some efforts, but cannot seem to find a credible source.

  • well done

  • thank you ;-)

  • einai ena poli oraia tragoudi. parakalo could you write out the first few lines of the lyrics in Greek?

  • Efharisto ya ti voithia. It is a real help having the written lyrics when I listen to the song.

  • Efharisto para poli!

  • Welcome. I learnt greek in school, but I haven't spoken it in years. So I kind of re-learned it for this song.
