When I was in care I was denied the right to a normal education besause the grouphome I was in had a section class , wich they make more money with because they have 2 or 3 staff there all day, usually only youth with behavior issues are in section classes but every one who gets placed in the home was forced to go to school there, and once you are in a section class you can not go back to a normal school untill you are "intigreated" wich takes usually a year or more. this was in 2004.

How about the one with a heart problem that has the chance of 20% coming out of surgery fine. 80% likely that the child would NOT survive the surgery. This just scared me! I thought it was NYC CAS, at first. Yikes. I work for the Children's Aid Society in New York City, and it's one of the most wonderful organizations I've ever worked for. Sorry CAS isn't so great in Canada. :-(

CAS is fine in Canada, you have to remember who is posting here. Maybe these folks should take a closer look at the over 200 government regulations that CAS employees follow on a daily basis. But they wouldn't know anything about that because nobody here has acutally done any tangible research on Ontario CAS company policies, but are merely relying on the word of the media as being the truth.

Rampant examples abuse of power exist. Children who receive stimulant medications despite opposition from parents. Children are often provided medications without adequate consultation on whether or not there are pre-existing health condtions that could potentially conflict and create harm.

Here is another example of neglect from an opposite stance: A child under CAS direction who requires medical intervention and the Ministry will not follow through because of treatment cost! There is absolutely no security to child & family. Scenarios are infuriating!

Official documenation and court transcripts show that many child protection workers do not even hold child related courses. Several hold educational backgrounds in arts and business. Some assessors and therapists have gained thier "qualifications" through correspondence and distance education courses.

Under present legislation in Ontario, Canada, front line child protection workers do not need to be registered. They are no regulating bodies overseeing these individuals, except the private agencies they work for. Back in the late 90's the social worker act was brought forward which forbid child protection workers from calling themsleves social workers as social workers need to be registered with the college of social workers and social service workers.

If you live in Ontario, Canada you need to read the Child and Family Services Act. This act will tell you almost everything you need to know about child protection.

Yes,I already have a copy of this act. There ARE loads of information they DONT tell you as well.Like what your rights are. I have read a story in particular ,in TalkCAS that this woman had her children removed out of spite over a worker being sexually regected by this woman!NOW, if she had known any better, she would not have opened her door to this sicko and/or the police,but also had gone to her MP and MPP to make a complaint.There are thousands of stories unlike this one and similar to this.

Not all cas workers have no children. but there is a big percentage so far that I know of that DONT have kids. and they still believe they know all parenting and ideas out there. I called bluff on many of these people, I have questioned them more than they question me. for each of their questions I counter then and up the wager.

update, the child was moved to another hospital, they could not even get the treatment plan right. New hospital said child can use alternative as well. CAS supported the childs move to the other hospital, shocking as it may come to many,CAS did not like the way the child and family had been treated, this was the hospitals call. What happens when the wrong treatment, or a medical error is made, forced by a court order?

Im from hamilton and know the advocates very well CAS (child Assist Services) the other CAS responsible for this inhumane act set up the father duped him was at his home first requested since he preferred alternative to please take the child to Mc Master for a check up as he had chemo for 6 mos previously , CAS had police waiting and arrested the father in front of his termenally ill son. • Went to foster care: 44%

Became teen mothers:

Also Peter Kormos said CAS's need guidelines and standards... there are Standards and Guidelines issued by the Ministry as "Directives" the problem is those are not made public.

Maybe we could advocate to have all Directives to CAS's made public on the Ministry web site?

Can people call the Ministry and start asking for this? Call your MPP and simply ask that Directives be made public so that people do not have to make FIPPA request in order to obtain those Directives.

The lawyer said that if the doctor does not report, it punishable by criminal sanction... this is not true. It is a Provincial Offence under the Child and Family Services Act not a criminal Offence for a professional not to report what they think is abuse or neglect

Well, it appears that the family made a big ruckus and then in the end came to an agreement, what was everything the CAS wanted. So basically they accomplished nothing. Some people just like to scream wolf, then when others try to bring forward issues that effect them, they are discredited. Just wish the media would cover the thousands of counts of perjury to show this as child abduction. The medical issue is something CAS knows will divide the public, unlike exposing corruption.

There are only two provinces in Canada who do not have independent oversight over their child "protection" industry (Ontario and Quebec) and in both these provinces the agencies involved are way overfunded and totally out of control.

Same thing happened to us, my son had leukaemia, I refused to have him entered for RANDOMISATION here in the UK. I did complain about his care . I was taken to court and fought for years to have him returned to me. I have attached a video response. Check out my other videos of Expert witness 1 - 2 - 3 . I show a SSAR's report children are put in for UK2003 trials , they run on until 2012 here and in Canada . They had trouble recruiting children into them in 2003 , my son was taken April 2004
