That changer is in great shape! I still have kicking around a Sony 200 disc DVD changer. I don't recall if it supports CD text or not, but it does have a PS/2 port on the front of the unit to program disc titles with a standard keyboard.
@moldymac It's very clean, and it has definitely found a good home here. Most all of the Sony changers I've seen do have the CD Text feature in place. I have a 400-disc model that also has the keyboard port. It came with a promotional offer for a Sony 'board, but I never took them up on it. I have a Model M space saver 'board plugged in. Sure beats putting in letters through the remote!
@GS7093 It's supposed to, but I don't think my dad has ever tried it. His reasoning is beyond me. I'd have the air conditioner cranking in any car I was driving!
It's been well over 100° for awhile here. The local TV stations are even keeping track of how many days this summer we've had with temperatures over 100° which is at least 40 consecutive days. Another kick in the butt is the 1.8 inches of rain year to date. We all said goodbye to grass mowing and the farmers said goodbye to crops long ago.
@CenTexVideo Wow. I hope you're staying cool down there...how well does the A/C keep up in your laundromat (if you do not mind my asking)?
The heat here eased up to about 92 today. It felt much cooler than a few piddly degrees should have. I know our crops here need water and my grass isn't really growing either.
We have four units here. Three of them are 2 ton window units and the roof unit I believe is 3 tons. All do a good job at 80° settings. The compressors do turn off once in a while. The electricity rates here are legal robbery, so we don't crank up the cool too much. The building is 60 years old, so it's drafty. With the wind being so bad here, the cool air doesn't stick around long. LOL!
You and your family stay cool. 92° is still pretty warm.
We just got out of the worst of it. We had heat indexes to 115 here in northeast Wisconsin. I hate heat. Give me cold anyday. We used to get that condensation at our old house on the kitchen door when it got really hot. New house has double paned low E glass on everything so that doesnt happen here. Glad the A/C works on all the cars.
Why would the copyright people potentially 'ding' you just for talking about the CD's lmull3 sent you with the CD player without you even playing them on the video? Is it because the CD's are copies and not the originals? If that's so then that's a really same because I'm really curious to know what he sent to you.
@Lachlant1984 I really kind of doubt that they would, but these are the people who nearly killed a serious cash cow (the VCR and rental movie business) and some of the things that music industry executives have been quoted as saying are so ridiculous they can't even be sensibly argued with. Those are just a few examples of the stupidity at play here.
I never know who is watching and I err on the side of caution with stuff like that. I'd hate to cause someone who did a nice thing a lot of grief.
@giberish9 That is crazy. Our dryer is in the basement, where it isn't air conditioned (well, not much--there are two ceiling vents in the whole thing) so hopefully it isn't doing the same. If you haven't, you might check the little flapper in the exhaust vent to make sure it has closed.
I have one of the Sony 200 disk cd and dvd players. The crazy thing is, it won't play cd-r or rw disks and my older single disk player plays them, no problem. Go figure.
Not much over 10°C and rain all last night and almost all day here. IOW, not at all typical summer weather. Looks like spring and summer have decided to swap places this year.
@MrStelmer I don't know about the Pioneer cassette decks. I suppose it might if there is a proper display--all of the ones I have are equipped only with simple LED level meters. My SX-253R stereo receiver does not appear to have any kind of demonstration mode (or if it does, I didn't find it after much button pushing).
Man it is 95 heat index 102 and in the next 2 days heat index and temp will be over
112 the good is I have 2 chysler AC units the bad we have been having power outages which means no AC which means I may die but maybe not creek across the street 1/4 a mile away has a very nice swimming section ccold water from the mounians Lucky us to have a nice swimming and sitting creak. I hope your power
Cold? It's 34 Celsius up here (93 Fahrenheit)! Well, 23C (81F) :-D Because this is a two story house, the AC doesn't extend well to my bedroom, or any room up here for that matter, so my one fan is all I got. It's enough to keep it as cold as the rest of the level, that is to say, not very cold.
Wow - the one thing I don't miss about the midwest is summer humidity. Even the LENS was fogging up!
As for the record label "discussion" and whatnot, one way to solve the agitation is to click "No" under the "Syndication" section on the edit page of each video. I have a few hundred copyright claims, but no strikes thanks in part to that constant policy & have successfully disputed worldwide blockages of nearly 50 videos with no repercussions.
I also "discuss" titles in my on-camera videos. :)
@SwingMan1937 Oh yeah. It's unreal. Even at night when it's not hot, the air is laden with humidity. On the plus side, it does make the hills and valleys in the countryside look neat. The one time I disputed a content ID match on a video (IBM PS/2 Ultimedia), nothing bad happened, but Sony Music said "we've confirmed our rights to the content in your video". I'll look into the syndication thing--did not know it would impact this. Despite 4 content ID matches, I am in "good standing".
@uxwbill I hope to keep my account that way as I would hate to lose it. I have given thought to making another for odd/rare/old music stuff. I do not hesitate to discuss titles in my videos for music I've purchased new or used. I just don't want to run any chance of causing trouble for lmull3.
One thing that slipped my mind initially is that you're a YouTube partner & how that would affect your posting videos. Music itself would definitely affect the revenue side, as you obviously couldn't collect anything on something that's been copyrighted/claimed by a 3rd party. But, I think you're safe on discussing artists & titles - I've done that on nearly all of my on-camera videos (previews, finds & the like) and not one has even a claim. ;)
i had 2 different pioneer 6 disc changers and what the adlc does is it goes to the loudest part of the cd and allows you to ajust the tape level according to the loudest part of the cd. also it would keep playing the loudest part of the cd till u have set the tape record level.
@rmx77 I suspect something changed, as having ADLC enabled on my six disc player enables a sort of compression/limiting function. I do have a Sony single disc player with a peak locator. It's the only player I've ever seen with that function, but it's a nice touch.
4:05 I always knew Luke had a few screws loose! :-P
And I hope you didn't disturb anyone's jigsaw puzzle there...
\We had an old microwave which used its 14-segment display to form a question mark character, although what was supposed to say "TIME?" came out looking like "TIME7" because it was missing the period.
@vwestlife I was careful not to mess up the jigsaw puzzle. The only thing I did was drop two pieces on the floor. After finding them, I put them back in the puzzle. 'Furhead made that chess table himself.
I've seen those fourteen-segment question marks and other bizarre punctuation display attempts. Even so, I really like the look of fourteen and sixteen segment displays.
so that's where those other screws from my Realistic STA-65 got too...i guess i didn't ravage the box quite enough, lol. could i possibly have those back if it's not too much trouble? put them someplace safe, lol. i hope you enjoy that player, man. looks like you know a hell of a lot more about those than i do, so, it looks like you are already :P.
Its actualy 112 Fahrenheit here in Canada and its so humid that my 2 air conditioning units (10,000 Btu each) can produce anough water from the humidity to fill up at least a 5 gal per day ;)
@talldude123 I think 60 might be a bit too cool for me, and probably too much of a shock coming in from the outdoors. It might do horrible things to my light bill, if the air conditioner ever shut off!
@uxwbill Nah, it's pretty nice uxwbill. Though I was outside today, it was a warm 80 degrees today! Inside didn't stay so cool, it's about 70 inside right now. Keep in mind I live on an island, and i'm close to the pacific ocean.
I also like thoroughly looking at theese displays to see all the characters and always wonder weather all of them light on and if not then why. =)
I hope others do that too. =)
Thank for all the videos!
