Incidentally, the Communists were correct. When the Marxists helped Hitler into power, they assumed he would ruin the country, and "then it would be their turn". It was - in East Germany, for half a century, with a regime which one historian of the times called the "Fourth Reich". And with the Stasi, secret prisons and the Berlin Wall, this regime was indeed practically indistinguishable from the Nazis they replaced.
For a time, they even used the same concentration camps.

You should check out a book by an author named Chris Hedges called "American Fascism." He talks about his father who was around at that time in Germany (I believe) and how his father was annoyed only the communists were fighting and everyone else sat on their asses.

Incidentally, the Communists were correct. When the Marxists helped Hitler into power, they assumed he would ruin the country, and "then it would be their turn". It was - in East Germany, for half a century, with a regime which one historian of the times called the "Fourth Reich". And with the Stasi, secret prisons and the Berlin Wall, this regime was indeed practically indistinguishable from the Nazis they replaced.
For a time, they even used the same concentration camps.

You should check out a book by an author named Chris Hedges called "American Fascism." He talks about his father who was around at that time in Germany (I believe) and how his father was annoyed only the communists were fighting and everyone else sat on their asses.

As the Nazis favored Germans over Jews and Slaves, so Bolsheviks favor Russians against Ukranians, Maoists favor the Han Chinese over Tibetans, the Vietnamese communists favor the north Vietnamese over the Hmong, and so on.

Through his connections in government he was able to swallow up other German companies into his "firm" as well. Hitler made Russia allies early in the war so he wouldnt have to worry about being attacked by them while he dealt with britain and france. It was a nessesary deal for hitler and when he turned his panzer divisions against Russia in 41 it began a war that killed 30 MILLION russians....with friends like that who needs enemys.

I might add, that the Ukranians looked upon the Nazis as liberators, with good cause - up until the Nazis started doing the same things to them as the Bolsheviks had.
