The RCMP are certainly not qualified to diagnose "Excited Delerium'. They tasered this man less than 25 seconds after they got there. They did not assess the situation at all. Then they lied their faces off until Pritchard's tape showed a different story.

Did their job? Dude, doing your job is tasering the guy ONCE, and then putting handcuffs on him. NOT tasering him multiple times and then laying on his chest. In case you didn't know, that's about 50,000 volts of shock you get, so when your body gets tasered many times, it's practically a death threat to manhandle the subject like they did. The police did NOT do their job, they were BRUTAL in handling the situation.

Hose11 is right: where WAS the translator? I don't think the RCMP are the bad guys here. They tasered him in order to subdue him quickly so that it wouldn't come down to clubbing him with their batons. The REAL tragedy of this situation was that a translator was not found for this poor man and after so many hours in the air he had to spend another ten isolated and unfed. And I have to say, even if I were the cops and I saw a man like this cornered, I'd be afraid of him too.

I used to work at the Vancouver Port and I've got friends who work at VYR. I personally know some of the security guards and some of the employees. Also, I know how VPD work and why they do what they do, but THIS is wrong. The whole situation was dealt with poorly. Why did it take 4 guys to take down this one guy? Why the taser? Why that many taser shots? Where the hell's the translator?
