hello i was wondering if you could help me i just got a new imac and plugged my microkorg in to use as a midi controller and now my audios messed up even on youtube videos everything crackles and distorts?????? any idea what ive done
There is an end device with the sounds, or synth sound in this case. The MIDI On/Off note files travel from the controller, through the midi cable, or usb cable, and then thoes On/Off notes trigger the selected synth in the Digital Audio Workstation. In this case, FL Studio as his DAW. MIDI it self has no sound.
LoL thats just the beginning. MIDI gets reallyyyyyyyyy intimidating!!!
You can't - Reason is a closed world (sounds come from plug-ins that ship with the program and you can't add any others) - there is a new application from them called Record that doesn't impress me in the least - but with it you could record audio and have Reason 4 playing in the background...
Unfortunatly no. But I'm going with the SH-201 as it has more (& better quality) Keys, You can record samples & process them as you can sounds. There's more lights on the Keyboard than the Korg. And it has more hands on controls.. Which is what I'm looking for.
I'm not too bothered by not having a Vocoder as I think it's a cheap effect compared to the future's 'New Sound'.
I'd save up for an extra week & buy the 201 m8. The miniKorg is on my list, but it's the small keys that's put it down!!
I will be getting one, but I'm very happy with My 201 - Some of the sounds that you can pulsate out of it are solid m8! There's so much to edit in so many ways & the keys are top quality for the price.
I'm not too concerned with getting a Vocoder as it's a cheap & dated way of getting round real singing, & alot of the sounds on this Synth have been used to death commercialy. I'm not into Remixing, more Pioneering. Which the SH-201 does with ease & Fun!
I've got a MicroKorg and I've hooked it up with a MIDI to USB cable on Logic Pro 8, and I can't get it to produce sound through. It'll work as a controller (for the software instruments) but none of the sounds I've made on the keyboard come through...
The midi connection wont transfer any sound, you need to plug an audio cable from the microkorg into your computer to record any sound coming out of it.
How about time code.. let's say I wanna use a drum bit from F L and a super saw with arp from my korg. how the heck do I do it.. I got pretty close just matching the tempo on both/// but sometimes it got pretty punk.. any clues?! thanks bud..
and that patch you used rocked.. awesome. another question does that microkorg has pitch setting like transpose or only on the wheel? and what's best MK 1 or 2?
@benjibunni , IM IN THE SAME BOAT AS MINIROLL32 BUT MINES BEEN ORDERED AND ON ITS WAY AND IM KINDA REGRETTING GETTING IT NOW FOR THE SIMPLE FACT OF NOT BEING ABLE TO RECORD THE SOUNDS IL BE MAKING FOR BASSLINES FROM THE MICROKORG ON MY LOGIC 8!!
IF I CONNECT AN AUDIO CABLE FROM THE SYNTH INTO MY MAC WILL I BEABLE TO RECORD THE BASSLINE AS I PLAY IT ON A TRACK IN MY LOGIC??
hey but can u connect your korg to your comptuer with a via usb cord? and play :D i want to buy one im just making sure everything is right when i buy it. ima synth virgin =[
i'd like to know what u are exactly doing on this vid
you launch the beat on fruity loops and you play directly through the MK to make the notes or u have plugged the MK into fruity loops and u play on it??
whats that one sound called that plays in the percussion track at .13? it sounds like a reversed trumpet or something. just wondering, it sounds so cool and retro.
I'm afraid that I don't have fruityloops any more, but I think it was in an 'hits' or 'orchestral hits' folder or something like that, I didn't sample it...it came with the program.
i no some better setting for microkorg, sounds closer i reckon.
hop/ vintage, b side, patch 4, edit select 1 to amp, knob 3 to on, edit select 1 to voice, knob 4 to multi. but i struggle more tryin to get that background music on fruity loops, any chance of sending a link or somethin, anythin?
I did asshat. free upgrades as they come out make it worth it. now.... don't ever pay for their sound sample library, pretty bad. some of their soft synths are cool though.
To hook the korg up to the comp all you need is a aux cord and a 1/4 to 1/8 hook up,they cost like 3 bucks,or you can just hook the korg up to a guitar amp haha and use FL on your comp speakers lol
i wanna know is that only buying a microkorg and just direct hook to the computer then its ready to go? Any other things else I have to buy? say..cable..sth like what the above member mentioned "midilink usb to midi adaptor"??
Well I think its just fruityloops to be honest, because i downloaded abelton live and that works with vista and the korg, just make sure your interface /midi works with windows vista and you should be all good man.
you can because i do, im gonna get a midi to usb though just to get the full interface but just to record a quick sample 3.5mm works just fine in the mic line in on a pc
what do you mean? I've got my microKorg hooked up to my PC through MIDI and it works a charm in fruityloops, even all the knobs work as a MIDI controller. I think you might be doing something wrong somewhere.
mmmm, I probably misunderstand what you're saying here, but midi out and line out work simultaneous too. However if you mean no MIDI through just connecting a 1/4" jack, then yeah, you are right. In that case, consider this message superfluous. ;) Regards.
so by connecting the microkorg audio cable into the computers audio you can record korg sounds off of fruity loops?

If you're in to synthesizers, the SH-201
