Wow...coombop1, praying for you to have a miraculous encounter. You will, you know: The earth declares the glory of God (Psalm 19:1) and "For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made..." (Romans 1:20). Whether you believe in Him is not the issue; He believes in you and will reveal Himself to you.
I am a Christian, and I love these videos. Saying "God did it" isn't a dismissive comment, and doesn't mean that we can't search for more answers, some of the most amazing scientists in the past have been driven by a desire to find out how God did it! If this universe exists purely as a result of random processes you wouldn't expect to find so much order, if there is no order, what is there for a scientist to find? But there is order and so we begin to understand God's creation.
That should cover everything from your comments but if you think I missed something let me know. I personally am an atheist because I see no reason to believe, haven't since I was 11. Without God, life is exactly the same except that you no longer pretend to have an answer for everything. Life isn't dull or jaded, it's even more beautiful! Instead of saying "God did it", we find answers, and they are much more exciting.
I should note that these comments appear in reverse order.
And to reiterate, I really don't see anecdotes like that as proving anything. I mean, that really is a tragedy what happened at your school but I don't see what it has to do with God. But think about how you would have viewed the Saints winning as an atheist: "Those men, of flesh and blood just like me, overcame adversity and won against all odds. And they did it without a magic man in the sky.". That story is only about God because you want it to be.
conditions are met (although they have been speculated upon). So, to say that it must have been planned does not make sense. If the conditions for life weren't met here, there wouldn't be life. You're forgetting that the earth is just a lucky rock to us, not some special creation.
And I have read the bible (old and new testaments) because they are the foundation of this society. But whether or not they are inherently consistent is irrelevant if you do not think they are factual.
In reference to the banana comment I would like to point out that I have never heard a believer say that cyanide must have been designed by God because of the way it perfectly binds to an oxidase protein and stops our bodies from using oxygen. Also, I would encourage you to see things from the banana's perspective, for whom its deliciousness is not positive!
Regarding the earth's distance from the sun, the position of scientists is that life forms where it is possible and some other unknown
I appreciate that you took the time to reply and since I took the time to read your comments I would appreciate the same courtesy. In response to your initial comment I would like to point out that you are employing a logical fallacy. Essentially you are saying "Everything has a cause, therefore there must have been some initial cause (God) which led to all other things". Of course, this leads to the question "Who made God?" which you can not answer without refuting the initial supposition.
@MEMESAREAWESOME Again I would appreciate no name calling. I have not extended that behavior to you and I would appreciate the same courtesy. I am not an ignorant twat (whatever that may be) I am a believer who will defend my God to those who discredit His work or try to minimize who He is!
@MEMESAREAWESOME I would appreciate you NOT getting petty by calling names. There is nothing ignorant about believing in God! He is forever the same, He is the same yesterday, today and forever and I will NOT allow unbelievers to minimize who He is and what He's done and is capable of! I have not called anyone ignorant or any other names for that matter and I would appreciate the same common courtesy. If that is all you can think of to argue you point, then I think my point is made!
most people are just too full of pride that they would choose to believe that they evolved from monkeys instead of believing the Creation account of the Bible..
for them I'll say : until now, evolution is still a THEORY. on the other hand, the Bible has been proven 100% correct. but if you will insist on evolution, how come EXTINCTION of species is a word on the dictionary? if species really evolve into a more resilient stock, then how come many are now endangered?
"most people are just too full of pride that they would choose to believe that they evolved from monkeys"
most people who know what evolution is, know that evolution does not show we evolved from monkeys. Theists who have no idea what they're talking about and are ignorant of that which they claim to be false, are the only fools who do this.
"then how come many are now endangered"
because evolution works slowly. man works quickly.
THank you JEsus because you make me whole and you hold my spirit and body!!! love you Lord even with my disorder you hold me every day and night by your precious grace!!! Im healthy because of you and your Power and LOve!!!
I know one thing for certain. Despite all your rationlizing, explaining away, whatever you would like to call it...I am more certain than ever that I serve an awesome and mighty God. The one true God who is loving, compassionate, and cares for ALL of us, even those who mock him, claim he isn't real, say it's foolish to believe in such a God....He love us all the same. He loves those people just as much as He loves me! And I am PROUD to call myself a child of the LIVING GOD!!!!!!!!!
@hopelesslyderanged It's not a matter of winning or losing. I don't know you so it doesn't really matter to me what you believe but I just want to know why. Given a choice between rationality and religion you have chosen religion. There must be a reason. I know so many smart religious people but I don't understand how anybody could believe in it. At eleven the idea seemed too childish to me and I'm certainly no genius. There has to be some reason to believe in God other than tradition. But what?
@hopelesslyderanged No I'm not saying instantaneously. What I'm saying is that a statistical analysis on prayer shows that it doesn't actually do anything. If you had a hundred optimistic atheists with broken tailbones and a hundred Christians who prayed to be healed, the average recovery time would be roughly the same for both.
@hopelesslyderanged Yes but had you not prayed you would still have gotten better. Even religious people tell me that you can't just pray for something and get it. So if some people pray for stuff and it happens and others pray for stuff and it doesn't then that doesn't really mean anything.
@hopelesslyderanged Yes but you must understand that having seen something like that isn't actually evidence. Even if i saw someone healed, there are many explanations that i would rank as more likely than god having done it. It also strikes me as odd that the sects of Christianity which claim to produce such miracles (I'm including talking in tongues, etc.) tend to be the least Christ-like. But that is also anecdotal and therefore not really evidence
@hopelesslyderanged Yes but this is all anecdotal. I don't doubt that people believe they have felt these things but I just have no more reason to believe them than those who tell of their psychic powers. I don't mean to sound arrogant or diminish your beliefs but I simply can't imagine that god is real. On the other hand, I don't see belief as being a necessarily bad thing unless it's of the 'Evolution is false; stone the gays' sort.
@hopelesslyderanged I don't think I'd ever pray again. Even as a child I'm not sure if I ever actually did. I always say I became an atheist at 11 but I think I'd just assumed I was a catholic up to that point without ever really thinking about it. And I don't think that theists or theism are insane, just unfounded. If there is a god though I doubt that it would care that I don't believe in it. But is there a reason that you believe? I'm just really curious from knowing so many smart Christians
Could anyone here give me just one good reason to believe in god. I am not trying to troll or anything I just want to know why people believe. And no personal stuff about being spoken to by god because I find it much easier to believe that it was imagined.
@coombop1 I kind of agree with you. I half believe and half dont. I dont know what to believe. There are so many questions un answered to believe, or to not believe.
@coombop1 Also, I had church camp that following weekend, which also brightened my mood and helped me to get through what had happened. God uses small things to make Himself known. The Saints winning the Super Bowl is kinda stupid, sure, but for me, it made me feel a little optimistic because if the underdogs can win, then I could get through the crap I was dealing with. God timed everything perfectly for me. He knows me, and He knows what I need to deal with tragedy.
@coombop1 This may not make sense to you, but I hope that it somehow does and that it helps you. God knows you better than anyone, and He loves you more than you will ever know.
@coombop1 Ok, I want you to think about something. Look at a building. Did that building build itself? Did the bricks, wood, nails, concrete, etc just put themselves together? Nope! It's impossible, right? Same thing with the universe. Someone or something had to create it. The big bang theory states that nothing blew up and here we are. How could nothing just blow up on its own? Now, I will neither confirm nor deny that the big bang happened. But someone had have a hand in it, right?
We joke about this one in youth group all the time, but I want you to take this seriously: look at a banana. It's perfectly shaped for the human hand. It's naturally packaged. It's easy to eat, and delicious (well, that's a matter of opinion, but that's not the point). Someone had to have people in mind when creating them. It's too big of a coincidence. Or what about the planet we live on? It's the perfect distance away from the sun: we won't burn up or
We won't burn up or freeze to death. We have water, a breathable atmosphere, and whatever needed plant life. I can't look at all this and deny that God or a god exists.
Now that God exists: I don't recommend trying this, because it will take forever, but if you were to read the entire Old Testament/Torah, you would find over 300 prophecies relating to the coming of Christ. Jesus is the only one that fulfilled all of them. The chances of that happening
Here's a personal story where God did not speak to me. Almost two years ago, when I was a freshman in high school and only fifteen, one of the ninth grade boys shot another boy in a school hallway. I was at school that day and I had classes with both of those boys. That weekend I completely shut down. The 2010 Super Bowl was that weekend, and I had been looking forward to it because the Saints were playing. They won.
@hopelesslyderanged I hate to hear you feel that way. I don't see how anyone can deny the wonderful God I serve. There is no need arguing it with you. You feel the way you feel and obviously there is no changing your mind. You will still however be in my prayers. There is no need to shake fists at God. God is there for you always, now whether you choose to accept his help or choose to stay in His will that is your choice. I hope you will change your mind. Until then you are in my prayers!
It seems like maybe you have been in a similar situation. God does not cause things like this to happen but think of where you would be without Him! There are families that have received miracles from Him. We can't put stipulations on Him...I will love you, serve you if you do this or that....that's not the way He works. He wants to see that we love Him without having to prove Himself to us. You are in my prayers. I hope what I said helped.
No one thinks they're stupid, they simply don't understand God. God doesn't CAUSE these things to happen!! People can't put stipulations on God. The Pharisees and non-believers tried that when they crucified him for our sins. They told Him that if He was really the Son of God that He would have his Angels come down and remove Him from the cross. I thank God EVERY day that He didn't do that! Where would we be without Him. I know how hard it is for families like this.
@pivotbrawler86 The person who first comes up with a scientific theory cannot by words make it more or less true. The big bang theory has mounds of evidence supporting it and is probably better understood than gravity.
Religious people should not bring science into discussions of God, nor should atheists. They are separate forms of thought and the evidence will always favour science. Spirituality need not impede knowledge and knowledge will never stop spirituality.
God is with us, He sees us, He loves us 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 4 weeks a month, 12 months a year. He will never stop loving us, no matter what we do. We may give in to sin and temptation, but He will love us anyway. I, for one, will do the same.
@MrPneumonia There is no evidence for your claims, to the contrary.. How can you call your god loving , caring, compassionate, just, when he let`s 100.000 innocent children perish under the rubble in Haiti ? Was he sleeping ? Did he momentarily loose control over the elements ? Explain !!
@talllizaMaybe he had a purpose for letting those people die.I heard a lot of haitians were Satan worshippers.Maybe he wanted to teach a certain lesson.maybe God brought some of them up to heaven. We don't know all the facts. And childbirth is problematic because of the first sin shown is Genesis because of Eve.It says that we are all punished because of Eve's sin.We are all wicked and sinful we have to accept that. God teaches us so many lessons in the scriptures. We have to understand. It is hard
it's not the lack of evidence about proving the existence of God, but the suppression of it. look around, everywhere, look up and find out whatever is available about our universe and see and get the CONSCIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE that God is real !
@sergiusal Look around indeed, but don`t look at the surface, examen what you see in depth,, and you will see that this cannot be made by a superintelligent perfect creator. One exemple; Why is childbirth in humans one of the most accident-prone ones, one of the most problematic ones, of all mammals ? Our babies have to do gymnastics to be born. Why ?
yeah GOD. prove that he doesnt exist. no one can not. without saying (in a baby voice)....well if God was real bad things wouldn't happen.....boo hoo hoo.
you have to be stupid to say he doesn't exist because you can not prove HE does not
If you can actually watch this and NOT believe in God, I just don't understand you! How is it easier to believe that a big bang created us or that we evolved from monkeys than it is to believe that God, an AWESOME and MIGHTY and LOVING God created us in His image!
@stroupies5 If you can actually watch this and NOT believe in God, I just don't understand you Well If you don`t understand that, you should go back to school. They will explain it to you.
@stroupies5 With all due respect I just want you to be aware of the conflation you are advertising; merely because one does not believe in evolution or the big bang does not make one a non-believer. I, for example, believe that the authors who penned the OT and the NT for that matter, were products of their time (just as we are). Our thinking, our logic, our very life is, unfortunately, subjectively expressed. I believe (currently at least) that those authors had no way of rationalizing science.
@stroupies5 I think science is a miracle and I can't see how the God that created this perfect harmony of forces would need to break them. I believe that as we advance further along the path of scientific enlightenment, we will continue to discover the marvelous art of His creation. What is to say that He did not spark evolution; who is to say that Jesus performed those miracles not by some exclusion of the laws of nature, but rather by some higher control?
@stroupies5 It's actually not easier to have a lack of belief in god. It's far easier to believe in god. Believing in god carries with it the ability to explain everything with a single catch all statement and a lack of logically sound reasoning for that explanation. I as some one who does not believe in god am not afforded such a luxury, there are times when I must admit not knowing the answer. A believer never has to make that admission.
@stroupies5 Stop being ignorant. The Big Bang theory was developed by a Christian priest ( Also astronomer ) and confirmed that the Universe had a beginning. Evolution is also proven. I'm a Christian. stop making a false choice and shouting Creationist propaganda.
@TheisticThinker I am not sure what you mean by making a false choice...I have made the ONLY choice! I choose to serve God. He has never let me down where many people have. You can call me all the names you would like, ignorant, creationist, whatever you like but YOU are not my judge! I choose to continue to put my faith in Him and not other people. As far as you being a Christian that's great but I choose to be a Christ follower and not minimize Him but rather lift Him up!
@stroupies5 I will still call you ignorant because you are creating a false dilemma that many Creationists do. People like you often make people of Faith seem stupid and ignorant, and I'm quite upset about that.
@TheisticThinker That's fine. You can call me whatever you want. I have never made anyone look stupid with anything I said. I will NOT continue this arguement. I know what I believe and you will NOT make me doubt that. I am a person of FAITH! I apologize that you are upset but I have not said anything that should upset you. All I have done is state the truth! God is the one TRUE God and that is the truth! There are no other explanations that even make sense!
@stroupies5 You still sound like an ignorant Creationist who Atheist rightly attack but often get used like a stereotype for Christianity, drawing everyone, even the moderate Christians, to the same level of Fundamentalism and Ignorance as you portray. It is just sad.
everyone stop arguing over the big bang theory. Because it couldn't have began creation. Because the Big Bang could not have been the beginning. If it was then where'd the elements needed to start the big bang come from. It doesn't start at the beginning of existence like the belief in our God does. Just saying..... and to prove there is a creator think about it this way. You see a painting well then you know there must have been a painter, you see a building you know there must have been a
@waretard-- stop arguing over the big bang theory. Because it couldn't have began creation.-- Show me your Nobel prize, and I shall believe you. Who are you , to go against the wisdom of 99.85 % of scientists in the apropriate fields of study . Your god stepped out of the void, said "POOF' and lo an behold, there was the whole universe, OUT OF NOTHING. Is that more believable ?
@tallliza well i think it'd be pretty crazy to have a Nobel prize @ my age. and btw polls and statistics actually support the fact that only 22% of MOST scientists in any given field of study believe in the big bang theory.
@tallliza the big bang is by far the worst explanation we have (x do you even know ANYTHING about what they think the big bang is? There are very very very very few people who support the idea.
@waretard Indeed there are millions of simpletons, who claim to know what they are talking about. Study it`s the only way to get rid of your misconceptions.
@MrPneumonia How can you be so ignorant? Indeed, this is a public forum. If you don`t like comments, set-up a private forum ,and nobody will bother you. Besides, nobody is forced to read any comments.
@MrPneumonia.; A god, one day, steppedout of the void, said..POOF.. andthere was the universe wioth it`s millions of galaxies, all millions of ligfht years apart, and all that happened in an instant OUT OF NOTHING. That is really great stuff. Nowadays, you can`t even make kindergarten kids believe such infantilism, unless they are brainwashed.
Ok, to anyone who say '' I need evidence.'' First go and DNA test your farther and mother to see that they are actually your parents. Ooo you just know that they are yours anyways, good. Then how about test your child to see that he or she is yours?
Haha, now you would want to curse me, bring it on. I dont give crap.
this is about FAITH. I have personally had something happen in my life that I KNOW he exists. I've been overcome with the holy spirit and so many things happened spiritually that I can hardly explain. I don't need anyone to believe me, Jesus said, let my name be known, give the word of salvation, but never beg. you heard of him, now choose. yes or no, it's all on the person. if you decide to follow god, great! if not, you're in free will to do whatever you want. you choose your destiny
@tallliza If you read Genesis, I believe you'll find out the answers to those questions. The same question could be leveled at 'atheists'. If some are so sure a creator is NOT responsible, they should know how all this came to be. The big bang theory is just that - a theory.
I'm not saying Christians are right. I'm just saying that non'Christians don't have anymore proof than anyone else. Acting like people who have different ideas when an answer has ever been proven is illogical.
@cminor131 Genesis is garbage. -- If some are so sure a creator is NOT responsible, they should know how all this came to be--- Totally wrong sir. Science is looking for the answers. Science will never be able to answer all the questions, to fill all the gaps. Religion says, god created it, Amen, but they have no evidence, they cannot answer the question how, when and why , yet they claim, that is the way it happened. The" big bang" is considered the most logical answer.
@tallliza I'm just saying that Christians and atheists both tend to line up on a picket line over this issue and scream at eachother. I am just pointing out that neither creationism nor evolution and the big bang have been proven and that it makes little sense for *anyone* to act otherwise. 'Logical' and 'proven' are not the same.Little good comes out of close minded fighting. That is my only point. I'm sorry if this opinion offends you.
@cminor131 Your answer does not offend, to the contrary. But scientific theories are based on evidence or their conclusions are based on observation. The big bang-theory is based on the observation that the universe is expanding. On what is creation based !! Secondly nobody HAS to believe the big-bang theory. In fact dissenting voices are encouraged as long as they are based on science. But creation HAS to be believed because it is (supposedly) god``s word.
This really demonstrates the size of the universe but it doesn’t prove a god exists. It makes god even more unlikely. God is a very very big hallucination. Christians invented the telescope as a tool of war and imprisoned the first person who used it to look up.
If God is so big and unfathomable "that (God) is far beyond anything we could ever dream or or imagine" then how come he makes claims that God created the universe? I just don't understand how one can understand that God can be so unfathomable and beyond any of our wildest dreams but then turnaround and claim to know his will in the from of religion and books such as the Bible, Torah etc. These seem to fly in the face of one another to me.
@brad238899 know christianity and religions are so hypocritical especially christianity it seeems they use their religion to be something that as long as they admit they made a mistake they are fine...like if they sin ...that they can use that as something to mkae their mistakes seem so forgivable...they try to hold up to rules that they cant hold up to .....if they didnt preach it to others then it would be fine but they act like the live up to those rules that are impossible to live up to!
if i were to send this to a 14 yr old girl who isn't religious at all, would it be awkward, inspiring, or would it turn her off from ever wanting to know God?
@Ratingisfunful This whole sin business of Adam stinks. God is the worst sadist ever. He knew Adam and Eve were going to sin, so he tempted them anyway, and when they did he punishes not only them but all the genrations to come. He was just waiting behind the curtain, to condemn humanity forever. What a SADIST.
@lizazoon SO many things in the Bible must be taken on the weight of evidence. How many verses can you produce along these lines? When you are done, I will give you a list of verses that more clearly show God's involvement in the issue.
@lizazoon we created evil, we as in man in the flesh. God put us here..the world was perfect, and we screwed it up by eating from the tree that God forbid us to eat from, or forbid Adam and Eve to eat from, but im sure anyone else would have eaten it too
@Lbuch44 -- we created evil, we as in man in the flesh-- NO EVIDENCE !!!
--..the world was perfect, and we screwed it up by eating from the tree -- KINDERGARTEN STORY. No evidence. !! Why do we have to suffer for the sin of Adam ? What kind of justice is this ?
@lizazoon we arent suffering from Adam himself, Adam and Eve are man, we all would've done the same given the situation they were thrust into, and yes theres plenty evidence. unlike other religions, anything from the bible can be proven in fact, but if your a wholehearted believer in Christ then you don't need things to be proven anyway. but for example, researchers have found the garden of Eden where the fruit was eaten, researchers have found Noah's ark. those are just two small things
@Lbuch44 -- and yes theres plenty evidence. unlike other religions, anything from the bible can be proven in fact, -- The bible( the Old-Testament) is the greatest accumulation of nonsense ever assembled by man. The bible has some historical value, that it proves the existence of certain towns, customs etc. but for the salvation story you have ZERO evidence. Noah`s ark is FRAUD. Nobody found noah`s ark.
@Lbuch44 So evrything in the bible is true ? How come out of 106 colleges that form the " Christian Coalition of Colleges " only 5 teach Genesis litterally. All the others teach it is allegory, in other words fantasy.
@Ratingisfunful -- He gave us a choice so we could show our love for him-- No he didn`t give us a choice, He gave Adam a choice ,not us. That`s the big injustice.
@Ratingisfunful -- Our imperfect nature and sinful ways brought all these things into the world! -- Whys is that ? Where does our imperfect nature come from ? Did we make it ourselves ? This" original sin" business, is the most ridiculous theological concept ever. It`s blatant injustice, that the whole of mankind be punised for the sin of one.
God created polio, science cured it. God created small pox, science cured it. God created leprosy, science cured it. God created 2.million different illnesses, science has found cures for many. God created infertility, science invented IN-VITRO and an estimated 15 million new lives. God`s life averaged 45 years, science extended it to 75. 100.000 innocent children died in Haiti suffocating beneath the rubble. This allmighty god, didn`t lift a finger to help.Praise be to god !!
My brother had a BIG change in his life just recently, hit rock-bottom and turned to the God for help. I've alway's had my Faith and I see myself as a Christian but having a general interest in Science and Space and then seeing these video's which my Brother told me about blew me away! This is a MUST SEE for anyone who want's to know more!
I saw this video in 8th grade and I forgot the name. But a recent religious debate brought up the subject of laminin and I ended up coming across the video again. I love it. Its so wonderful
@Struggonaut You know what, though, it's actually crazy but I've been thinking about this and it takes a lot more faith to be an Atheist than a Christian! The Bible doesn't contradict itself, and we have proof that what it says IS true! If you only do a little research, you can see that it IS an accurate record of the events that occurred. We Christians can rely on the clear evidence we see before us, whereas Atheists have WAY more holes to fill. Thus it requires LOADS more faith to not believe!
How can you guys believe this?! There is no evidence, there is evidence that contradicts the bible, The bible has contradictions in it for shit sake! there is no reason to believe in Christianity.
@SnipeZuDown Actually, there is a substantial amount of evidence to back up the things documented in the Bible. If you didn't know, the Jewish people were famous for their accurate documentation and record keeping. They treated the written word of God as an accurate historical record. We believe other things that were written on history, don't we? No one contradicts the existence of the Pharaohs, which was recorded in thousands of documents, right? So why doesn't the same apply to Jesus and God?
@rach3vz Okay, New york exists but that doesn't mean spiderman is real. If you have fictional book, with some real world traits, that doesn't mean everything in the book is correct. Also...
@SnipeZuDown Okay, I looked up those 2 verses, and I don't understand what's supposed to be contradictory about them? Well, there is a HUGE amount of evidence that says contrary. The Earth is actually around 8,000 years old, give or take. One of the biggest of these evidences is the rate at which the sun shrinks. It loses about 5 feet per hour, which is not a big deal, but when you do the math, only 10,000 years ago, the Sun would have been TOUCHING the Earth. But the Evolutionary theory says
@rach3vz The first verse says that Michal, the daughter of Saul, had no children. The second verse says she had five. Radioactive dating says the earth is 4.3 billion. Radio active elements decay at a static, unchanging, rate. So we can measure the half life of them and determine accurate age. Also, the sun is expanding, not shrinking. Look up what a red giant is.
@SnipeZuDown dude radioactive/carbon datings out the window..lol they tested it and its not accurate...they killed a new born snail and carbon dating said it was a million years old..
@SnipeZuDown dude carbon dating is not accurate past few thousand years..
The shells of living mollusks have been dated using the carbon 14 method, only to find that the method gave it a date as having been dead for 23,000 years!(Science vol. 141 1963 pg. 634-637 Living penguins have been carbon dated and the results said that they had died 8,000 years ago! This is just one of many inaccurate dates given by Carbon dating.
@hahaits Notice how both of those are sea organisms and both absorb extra carbon throughout their lives? Watch this video. /watch?v=QbvMB57evy4 Notice how he mentions, THE SAME THING YOU DID. Also, please give me an example of how radioactive dating doesn't work.
@SnipeZuDown actually the second verse says that her older sister Merab had 5 children, Michal is the younder one and it says nothing of her having children in that verse
@SnipeZuDown I would encourage you to do research on both sides of the argument. Don't just assume God doesn't exist. And actually, the Bible does not contradict itself, nor can it be disproved if you really look at the facts and historical context. Christians may contradict themselves, but that does not mean the Bible or God does. Christians are only human, and a lot of them are just as lost as non-Christians.
Wow! Beyond Wow! Must see! Louie Giglio once again(Laminin) shows How Great is our God! Just watched the whole 6 part series on god.tv and wanted to pass it on to all. Our God is Great!!!
@00raze if there was no god there would be no life! and when we die, we loose nothing, because we get to go to heaven and be with our creator, our father. By believing in the lord you get the most incredible feeling, and the most wonderous life.
@TheMisssandy that is the point i always try to make to people, why believe in nothing when you could believe in something that in the end your in a paradise for all eternity : )
Disbelief in God is most people's security blanket about their future. Belief in God requires submission and humility. It really boils down to a pride issue.
"It's a rather feeble attempt to prove he exists" - This video is not attempting to prove the existence of God. God is already proven to exist, any intelligent being knows this. Review the works of some of the smartest people that have existed, you will see (Einstein, also youtube Michio Kaku theoretical physicist).
"admit your life is a waste of time" - Bahahahahahaha please, you need to read Ecclesiastes, then follow up with some existential philosophy.
They can't prove God exists. They can only point out little holes in other people's theories. That's what God is, a basic gap filler for the unknown, so people don't have to ask questions.God is unprovable. Does that make him real? No. Oh, I wasn't telling people to admit their lives are a waste of time, I'm saying people don't want to realize it. And I'm not saying that this video is trying to prove it, I'm just saying the connection with that blue blur is just ridiculous.
@Alchemist7000 I think you are looking at this the wrong way. You yourself have just admitted God does exist. "a basic gap filler for the unknown". According to existentialist philosophy, you cannot say something does not exist, if something did not exist at any point in time, we would not be able to recognise it as not existing. Thus God does exist and science will forever look for an alternative theory, there will never be an answer from science and God will be the answer to the unkown forever
@sjhyosup There's an idea of God, just because someone thought him up, doesn't mean he exists. That's like saying Santa Claus exists because people thought him up.
@Alchemist7000 Yes this is a simple concept of existence. You can read about Santa Claus existence on wikipedia. God however has existed ad infinitum (you can read more about the concept of infinity with John Barrow's great book: 'The infinite book'). It is obvious you have not read enough on the subject to discuss the ontological existence of God, thus I will stop here.
@Alchemist7000 What you mean is to prove God does not exist is impossible. This is due to the problems science faces and will continue to face everytime there is a new theory. watch?v=DfPeprQ7oGc&feature=related - The problem with quantam mechanics, the very act of observing changes the outcome... Science textbooks are completely re-written every 50-100 years and this will continue until the end. Science is good for technology not for describing the origins of existence. Thats what God is for.
You're basically agreeing with me. People are scared of what they don't know, so God is thrown into the equation. I.E, death. People are afraid of death so they're told that they will go to a magical place when they die.
@Alchemist7000 All I am saying is science is limited by the universe God made, God is infinite, therefore do not limit yourself to science but open your mind. If science could prove God's existence so it was 'scientific fact' known to man, then everyone existing would believe. Think about this for a second. If everyone believed, then there would be no point to existence - we may as well have just existed with God ad infinitum, rather than live a finite time on earth.
Bahahahaha this has to be one of the dumbest things I have heard. You must be a serial criminal, if you have done any courses on origins of legal systems you would know the entire world's legal systems are based on this book. How credible.
@sjhyosup Wow...you're reasoning is...juvenile. "You must be a serial criminal..." I merely said, or suggested, "How can you believe so strongly in something, and base your life around what is written in an unreliable, thousand year old book." I do not believe that warrants me the title of a "serial criminal". By the way, most laws are based on social precedent. I highly doubt the "entire world's legal systems" are based completely off of the christian bible, you ignorant cunt.
The origins of the legal system are. Of course there is precedent to adapt to the changing nature of the legal environment. However this does not change where the foundations came from.
"unreliable" - Please show me another book where more than 300 prophecies have been fulfilled. If I picked 300 winners in a row at the races, would you back me for picking the next winner?
you're reasoning is juvenile I was merely trying to draw out from what you base your beliefs on.
@xXDevilMayKillXx hate to break it to you, but your beliefs are not based on hard facts, because "the big bang" is science's most logical explanation doesn't make it true...because there is no hard evidence, no proof. They just said it and you believed it... you put your faith in it.
@xXDevilMayKillXx ok, please enlighten me. What hard evidence is there of the big bang? It is simply a theory and because this theory makes sense to you does not give it any more or less validity. It still requires some kind of faith to believe in it, and that is what I'm doing. I'm putting faith in my God and His wonder and creativity in the creation of the universe.
@treesofmarble Residual heat leftover from the big bang, the noticeable expansion of the universe (galaxies and stars moving further and further apart). On a similar note of tracking the residual heat left by the bang, background microwave radiation has been found that could quite possibly have come from the bang.
@xXDevilMayKillXx wow, that is some really neat stuff. I enjoy learning about the universe and it's composition, but this still is just theory; and don't get me wrong, I'm not opposed to big bang, it is not stated specifically how God created the earth, we know He did and the further study of the universe makes it very difficult not to believe in a divine creator.
@treesofmarble If you believe the bible he SPOKE the universe into existence.. Magicians like that, come around only once, then they disappear. He should apply for a job in Vegas.
@tallliza Genesis 1:1, "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth." It's as simple as that. There is no how or why explained, but He chose to create us. He has never disappeared, people just chose to stop looking for Him.

I should note that these comments appear in reverse order.
coombop1 1 month ago
And to reiterate, I really don't see anecdotes like that as proving anything. I mean, that really is a tragedy what happened at your school but I don't see what it has to do with God. But think about how you would have viewed the Saints winning as an atheist: "Those men, of flesh and blood just like me, overcame adversity and won against all odds. And they did it without a magic man in the sky.". That story is only about God because you want it to be.
coombop1 1 month ago
conditions are met (although they have been speculated upon).

Regarding the earth's distance from the sun, the position of scientists is that life forms where it is possible and some other unknown
coombop1 1 month ago
I appreciate that you took the time to reply and since I took the time to read your comments I would appreciate the same courtesy. In response to your initial comment I would like to point out that you are employing a logical fallacy. Essentially you are saying "Everything has a cause, therefore there must have been some initial cause (God) which led to all other things". Of course, this leads to the question "Who made God?" which you can not answer without refuting the initial supposition.

most people are just too full of pride that they would choose to believe that they evolved from monkeys instead of believing the Creation account of the Bible..
for them I'll say : until now, evolution is still a THEORY. on the other hand, the Bible has been proven 100% correct. but if you will insist on evolution, how come EXTINCTION of species is a word on the dictionary? if species really evolve into a more resilient stock, then how come many are now endangered?

most people who know what evolution is, know that evolution does not show we evolved from monkeys. Theists who have no idea what they're talking about and are ignorant of that which they claim to be false, are the only fools who do this.
"then how come many are now endangered"

I know one thing for certain. Despite all your rationlizing, explaining away, whatever you would like to call it...I am more certain than ever that I serve an awesome and mighty God. The one true God who is loving, compassionate, and cares for ALL of us, even those who mock him, claim he isn't real, say it's foolish to believe in such a God....He love us all the same. He loves those people just as much as He loves me! And I am PROUD to call myself a child of the LIVING GOD!!!!!!!!!
stroupies5 6 months ago
@hopelesslyderanged It's not a matter of winning or losing. I don't know you so it doesn't really matter to me what you believe but I just want to know why. Given a choice between rationality and religion you have chosen religion. There must be a reason. I know so many smart religious people but I don't understand how anybody could believe in it. At eleven the idea seemed too childish to me and I'm certainly no genius. There has to be some reason to believe in God other than tradition. But what?
coombop1 7 months ago
@hopelesslyderanged No I'm not saying instantaneously. What I'm saying is that a statistical analysis on prayer shows that it doesn't actually do anything. If you had a hundred optimistic atheists with broken tailbones and a hundred Christians who prayed to be healed, the average recovery time would be roughly the same for both.
coombop1 7 months ago
@hopelesslyderanged Yes but had you not prayed you would still have gotten better. Even religious people tell me that you can't just pray for something and get it. So if some people pray for stuff and it happens and others pray for stuff and it doesn't then that doesn't really mean anything.
coombop1 7 months ago
@hopelesslyderanged Yes but you must understand that having seen something like that isn't actually evidence. Even if i saw someone healed, there are many explanations that i would rank as more likely than god having done it. It also strikes me as odd that the sects of Christianity which claim to produce such miracles (I'm including talking in tongues, etc.) tend to be the least Christ-like. But that is also anecdotal and therefore not really evidence
coombop1 7 months ago
@hopelesslyderanged Yes but this is all anecdotal. I don't doubt that people believe they have felt these things but I just have no more reason to believe them than those who tell of their psychic powers. I don't mean to sound arrogant or diminish your beliefs but I simply can't imagine that god is real. On the other hand, I don't see belief as being a necessarily bad thing unless it's of the 'Evolution is false; stone the gays' sort.

And I don't think that theists or theism are insane, just unfounded. If there is a god though I doubt that it would care that I don't believe in it. But is there a reason that you believe? I'm just really curious from knowing so many smart Christians

It's the perfect distance away from the sun: we won't burn up or
13LittleLotte 1 month ago
@coombop1 ***from earlier comment
13LittleLotte 1 month ago
@coombop1 ***from earlier comment
are really, really, really small.
They won.
13LittleLotte 1 month ago
@hopelesslyderanged I hate to hear you feel that way. I don't see how anyone can deny the wonderful God I serve. There is no need arguing it with you. You feel the way you feel and obviously there is no changing your mind. You will still however be in my prayers. There is no need to shake fists at God. God is there for you always, now whether you choose to accept his help or choose to stay in His will that is your choice. I hope you will change your mind. Until then you are in my prayers!
stroupies5 8 months ago
@hopelesslyderanged continued from before...
I hope what I said helped.
stroupies5 8 months ago
@hopelesslyderanged

The person who invented the big bang theory also said that when he died a platform of fungus and mushrooms would carry him up into the clouds
and I also recall the fact that he himself said the big bang theory is fake
Hawkings just supported the THEORY
pivotbrawler86 9 months ago
@pivotbrawler86 The person who first comes up with a scientific theory cannot by words make it more or less true. The big bang theory has mounds of evidence supporting it and is probably better understood than gravity.
Religious people should not bring science into discussions of God, nor should atheists. They are separate forms of thought and the evidence will always favour science. Spirituality need not impede knowledge and knowledge will never stop spirituality.

Tributer123 11 months ago
@stroupies5 With all due respect I just want you to be aware of the conflation you are advertising; merely because one does not believe in evolution or the big bang does not make one a non-believer. I, for example, believe that the authors who penned the OT and the NT for that matter, were products of their time (just as we are). Our thinking, our logic, our very life is, unfortunately, subjectively expressed. I believe (currently at least) that those authors had no way of rationalizing science.
alexamh91 6 months ago
@stroupies5 I think science is a miracle and I can't see how the God that created this perfect harmony of forces would need to break them. I believe that as we advance further along the path of scientific enlightenment, we will continue to discover the marvelous art of His creation. What is to say that He did not spark evolution; who is to say that Jesus performed those miracles not by some exclusion of the laws of nature, but rather by some higher control?
alexamh91 6 months ago
@stroupies5 I mention this not to cast your views aside but rather to reveal the beliefs of others that believe in Him.
alexamh91 6 months ago
@stroupies5 It's actually not easier to have a lack of belief in god. It's far easier to believe in god. Believing in god carries with it the ability to explain everything with a single catch all statement and a lack of logically sound reasoning for that explanation. I as some one who does not believe in god am not afforded such a luxury, there are times when I must admit not knowing the answer. A believer never has to make that admission.

Religion says, god created it, Amen, but they have no evidence, they cannot answer the question how, when and why , yet they claim, that is the way it happened. The" big bang" is considered the most logical answer.
tallliza 1 year ago
@tallliza I'm just saying that Christians and atheists both tend to line up on a picket line over this issue and scream at eachother. I am just pointing out that neither creationism nor evolution and the big bang have been proven and that it makes little sense for *anyone* to act otherwise. 'Logical' and 'proven' are not the same.Little good comes out of close minded fighting. That is my only point. I'm sorry if this opinion offends you.
cminor131 10 months ago
@cminor131 Your answer does not offend, to the contrary. But scientific theories are based on evidence or their conclusions are based on observation. The big bang-theory is based on the observation that the universe is expanding. On what is creation based !! Secondly nobody HAS to believe the big-bang theory. In fact dissenting voices are encouraged as long as they are based on science. But creation HAS to be believed because it is (supposedly) god``s word.

This really demonstrates the size of the universe but it doesn’t prove a god exists. It makes god even more unlikely. God is a very very big hallucination. Christians invented the telescope as a tool of war and imprisoned the first person who used it to look up.
samten54 1 year ago

When you are done, I will give you a list of verses that more clearly show God's involvement in the issue.
balamquitzeramos 1 year ago
@balamquitzeramos Does it say god created evil yes or no ?
lizazoon 1 year ago
@lizazoon we created evil, we as in man in the flesh. God put us here..the world was perfect, and we screwed it up by eating from the tree that God forbid us to eat from, or forbid Adam and Eve to eat from, but im sure anyone else would have eaten it too
Lbuch44 1 year ago
@Lbuch44 -- we created evil, we as in man in the flesh-- NO EVIDENCE !!!
--..the world was perfect, and we screwed it up by eating from the tree -- KINDERGARTEN STORY. No evidence. !! Why do we have to suffer for the sin of Adam ? What kind of justice is this ?
lizazoon 1 year ago
@lizazoon we arent suffering from Adam himself, Adam and Eve are man, we all would've done the same given the situation they were thrust into, and yes theres plenty evidence. unlike other religions, anything from the bible can be proven in fact, but if your a wholehearted believer in Christ then you don't need things to be proven anyway. but for example, researchers have found the garden of Eden where the fruit was eaten, researchers have found Noah's ark. those are just two small things
Lbuch44 1 year ago
@Lbuch44 -- and yes theres plenty evidence. unlike other religions, anything from the bible can be proven in fact, -- The bible( the Old-Testament) is the greatest accumulation of nonsense ever assembled by man. The bible has some historical value, that it proves the existence of certain towns, customs etc. but for the salvation story you have ZERO evidence. Noah`s ark is FRAUD. Nobody found noah`s ark.
lizazoon 1 year ago
@lizazoon but like i said, i dont need all that proof anyway, i know anything that has been said in the Bible is true with or without proof
Lbuch44 1 year ago
@Lbuch44 So evrything in the bible is true ? How come out of 106 colleges that form the " Christian Coalition of Colleges " only 5 teach Genesis litterally. All the others teach it is allegory, in other words fantasy.

@Ratingisfunful -- Our imperfect nature and sinful ways brought all these things into the world! -- Whys is that ? Where does our imperfect nature come from ? Did we make it ourselves ? this is where we as Christians have to have faith that what is in the Bible is true, even if it may seem contradictory.
Struggonaut 1 year ago

SnipeZuDown 1 year ago
@SnipeZuDown Actually, there is a substantial amount of evidence to back up the things documented in the Bible. If you didn't know, the Jewish people were famous for their accurate documentation and record keeping. They treated the written word of God as an accurate historical record. We believe other things that were written on history, don't we? No one contradicts the existence of the Pharaohs, which was recorded in thousands of documents, right? So why doesn't the same apply to Jesus and God?
rach3vz 1 year ago
@rach3vz Okay, New york exists but that doesn't mean spiderman is real. If you have fictional book, with some real world traits, that doesn't mean everything in the book is correct. Also...
2 Sam 6:23
2 sam 21:8
Also, the world is not 6,000 years old and we didn't come from dirt. The bible is not 100% true.
SnipeZuDown 1 year ago
@SnipeZuDown Okay, I looked up those 2 verses, and I don't understand what's supposed to be contradictory about them? Well, there is a HUGE amount of evidence that says contrary. The Earth is actually around 8,000 years old, give or take. One of the biggest of these evidences is the rate at which the sun shrinks. It loses about 5 feet per hour, which is not a big deal, but when you do the math, only 10,000 years ago, the Sun would have been TOUCHING the Earth. But the Evolutionary theory says
rach3vz 1 year ago
@rach3vz The first verse says that Michal, the daughter of Saul, had no children. The second verse says she had five. Radioactive dating says the earth is 4.3 billion. Radio active elements decay at a static, unchanging, rate. So we can measure the half life of them and determine accurate age. Also, the sun is expanding, not shrinking. Look up what a red giant is.

This is just one of many inaccurate dates given by Carbon dating.

SnipeZuDown 1 year ago
@SnipeZuDown actually the second verse says that her older sister Merab had 5 children, Michal is the younder one and it says nothing of her having children in that verse
loverslovetohate 1 year ago
@SnipeZuDown I would encourage you to do research on both sides of the argument. Don't just assume God doesn't exist. And actually, the Bible does not contradict itself, nor can it be disproved if you really look at the facts and historical context. Christians may contradict themselves, but that does not mean the Bible or God does. Christians are only human, and a lot of them are just as lost as non-Christians.

@Alchemist7000
"admit your life is a waste of time" - Bahahahahahaha please, you need to read Ecclesiastes, then follow up with some existential philosophy.
sjhyosup 1 year ago
@sjhyosup

@starkiller360117 Amen brother
Alchemist7000 1 year ago
@Alchemist7000 I think you are looking at this the wrong way. You yourself have just admitted God does exist. "a basic gap filler for the unknown". According to existentialist philosophy, you cannot say something does not exist, if something did not exist at any point in time, we would not be able to recognise it as not existing. Thus God does exist and science will forever look for an alternative theory, there will never be an answer from science and God will be the answer to the unkown forever
sjhyosup 1 year ago
@sjhyosup There's an idea of God, just because someone thought him up, doesn't mean he exists. That's like saying Santa Claus exists because people thought him up.
Alchemist7000 1 year ago
@Alchemist7000 Yes this is a simple concept of existence. You can read about Santa Claus existence on wikipedia. God however has existed ad infinitum (you can read more about the concept of infinity with John Barrow's great book: 'The infinite book'). It is obvious you have not read enough on the subject to discuss the ontological existence of God, thus I will stop here.
sjhyosup 1 year ago
@Alchemist7000 What you mean is to prove God does not exist is impossible. This is due to the problems science faces and will continue to face everytime there is a new theory. watch?v=DfPeprQ7oGc&feature=related - The problem with quantam mechanics, the very act of observing changes the outcome... Science textbooks are completely re-written every 50-100 years and this will continue until the end. Science is good for technology not for describing the origins of existence. Thats what God is for.
sjhyosup 1 year ago
@sjhyosup
You're basically agreeing with me. People are scared of what they don't know, so God is thrown into the equation. I.E, death. People are afraid of death so they're told that they will go to a magical place when they die.
Alchemist7000 1 year ago

How credible.
sjhyosup 1 year ago
@sjhyosup Wow...you're reasoning is...juvenile. "You must be a serial criminal..." I merely said, or suggested, "How can you believe so strongly in something, and base your life around what is written in an unreliable, thousand year old book." I do not believe that warrants me the title of a "serial criminal". By the way, most laws are based on social precedent. I highly doubt the "entire world's legal systems" are based completely off of the christian bible, you ignorant cunt.
xXDevilMayKillXx 1 year ago
@xXDevilMayKillXx
The origins of the legal system are. Of course there is precedent to adapt to the changing nature of the legal environment. However this does not change where the foundations came from.
"unreliable" - Please show me another book where more than 300 prophecies have been fulfilled. If I picked 300 winners in a row at the races, would you back me for picking the next winner?
you're reasoning is juvenile I was merely trying to draw out from what you base your beliefs on.
sjhyosup 1 year ago
@xXDevilMayKillXx What do you base yours on? A TV show? A band you listen to? Books that impact you?
We all base our beliefs on things we see/read/experience that are important to us. You're no different - you just read different books.
cminor131 1 year ago
@cminor131 I base my beliefs on hard fact as opposed to faith and a book written by sheep herders in the desert thousands of years ago.
xXDevilMayKillXx 1 year ago
@xXDevilMayKillXx hate to break it to you, but your beliefs are not based on hard facts, because "the big bang" is science's most logical explanation doesn't make it true...because there is no hard evidence, no proof. They just said it and you believed it... you put your faith in it.
treesofmarble 1 year ago
@treesofmarble Let me put it this way, there's a whole lot more evidence for the big bang than there is an elderly deity ruling over everything.
xXDevilMayKillXx 1 year ago
@xXDevilMayKillXx ok, please enlighten me. What hard evidence is there of the big bang? It is simply a theory and because this theory makes sense to you does not give it any more or less validity. It still requires some kind of faith to believe in it, and that is what I'm doing. I'm putting faith in my God and His wonder and creativity in the creation of the universe.
treesofmarble 1 year ago
@treesofmarble As I stated in my PREVIOUS COMMENT, the big bang has more supporting evidence than any religion.
xXDevilMayKillXx 1 year ago
@xXDevilMayKillXx yes, thank you. Believe or not I did read that which is why i asked what is some of that evidence...
treesofmarble 1 year ago
@treesofmarble Residual heat leftover from the big bang, the noticeable expansion of the universe (galaxies and stars moving further and further apart). On a similar note of tracking the residual heat left by the bang, background microwave radiation has been found that could quite possibly have come from the bang.
xXDevilMayKillXx 1 year ago
@xXDevilMayKillXx wow, that is some really neat stuff. I enjoy learning about the universe and it's composition, but this still is just theory; and don't get me wrong, I'm not opposed to big bang, it is not stated specifically how God created the earth, we know He did and the further study of the universe makes it very difficult not to believe in a divine creator.
