Why doesn't the navy have an LSO for helos like they do for fixed-wing aircraft? If someone had seen that his landing gear was snared, they could have ordered an immediate touchdown (regardless of what the pilot though the situation was) and saved everyone, even if the final position was a bit hairy.

too fast, too low at wrong spot so pilot could not not see that rear wheel was caught on the steel net (watch it) So when he tried to take over again the helic it turned up. 7 marines died 11 marines survived.

It sank too fast as you can notice. This happened because the helic kept rotating underwater. So these men had almost no time to get out. All these details were mentioned on a ducumentary I watched a few months ago.

This was actually 'Ship Invasion' maneuvers practice. That is why the chopper was going so fast to land. Obviously, it went very wrong.

I saw this on the history channel. they were coming in too fast and crashed. 10 marines were saved, but seven, including the crew, were killed.

Actually not the entire crew was killed i believe one of the pilots if not the two pilots survived the crash but maybe i`m wrong i`ll look more into it.
