  • when the car went off the cliff all i heard was "oyshosho"

  • For the Bellend newbie spectator who called 999 - I hope you read this. Please dont call a fire engine unless the car has gone on fire and the onboard fire supressant system has failed to operate, or the occupents require to be cut from the wreckage. You totally ruined the event for hundreds, possibly thousands of spectators who only managed to attend the last stage and finale of what was such a special event in memory of a legend

Shame that such a highly anticipated event ended in this way

  • it was me

  • we follow rallying all over....never seen a fire engine doing craigvinean b4 though.....ps thanks nutter who phoned them.....

  • i said "we" as in all the spectators that was at that point of the stage!!! i also said in my last post i was looking aft my kids!!!!!!!!

  • Fire service were told by rally officials at the entrance to the stage that everything was in control and they weren't needed. They blatantly refused to accept this and went through anyway! Police and Ambulance that had also responded remained at the agreed rendezvous point. There was no need for the Fire service to have been in that predicament at all.

  • @jhnbuck when the fire sevice are called they have to attend by legislation, so this is in no way the fire service's fault

  • Wasnt alistair driving the stobarts escort and jimmy was driving the porsche i think i read somewhere

  • jim? that his brother or a son of his or something?

  • Dad. 5 times British Rally champion in the 1980's.

  • hope ur no refering im the one that phoned 999 or tryed 2 stop the cars??? i was looking aft my kids as they wer abit shocked aft seeing that!!!!

  • Eh mate you did say in your last post that you were trying to stop cars to let the drivers know what had happened. so yes i am refering to you.

  • Because thats his second big crash this year. he had one on the pirelli rally i was there!

  • Was jimmy ok after that?

  • he was fine - scary off thou

  • seriously whoever called 999 should be ashamed fair enough if the car had burst into flames you'd call 999, you dont do that in the middle of a rally . You tried to stop rally cars , lucky none of them stoped you probably would have recived a swift punch to the face just before the driver took off trying to regain the 20 seconds or more he/she had lost being stopped by YOU.

  • If there wasnt an OK board shown to all crews then he did the right thing. As it wouldnt be long until the finish radio would have realised they had a car missing meaning the stage could of been stopped anyway until the car was found.

If there was an ok board and a warning triangle then there is no need to stop them.

  • Can't belive someone called 999 - what do they think the Marshals and rescue crews are for????

  • its nae wonder rallying is sooo dear! How many recovery units do you need ! is that 4 ! to recover 1 car ! michty me !

  • Not sure who it was but there was alot of people watching who were not clearly used to watching rallys. there was a few people panicing and shouting wheres the crew- when the drew were up on the road about 5 meters away!!!

  • who was the amatuer spectator that called the fire brigade?

  • some nobed

  • calm down chris lmao

  • That was Jimmy McRaes Porsche 911!

  • whos that down there
