  • Someone needs to make a longer version of the music. It was so awesome...

  • @Eurrsk Mind Melt Detected X_X

    ahehahaha

  • If I was stationed aboard the Enterprise-D, my wish would be to hear and attend a live concert of Captain Picard and his Ressikan flute. So beautiful.

  • @Eurrsk now that u mention it i cant seem to take my eyes off them !

  • I love how those clearly aren't Picards hands...

  • TNG was so rich in culture. I would preserve TNG for the distant future.

  • For the piano harmonics, what is the scale? E flat major doesn't seem to sound right.

  • @Eurrsk OMG Man Hands !! now i know why Jean Luc was smirking.... he was in on the 'joke' ;) (Hi Johanna :)

  • @Eurrsk how do you know?

  • Oh god... This looks so silly. I think it's the hands. I didn't notice what was making it look so strange until afterwards. XD

  • @Eurrsk Yeah just read on wiki that they gave him a hand double for that piece. Also that flute doesn't actually play at all it's just a prop.

  • @EvilLoynis hmm, if the flute wasn't actually playing, what was the purpose of having a hand-double? 0.o

  • @natlai So it looked right I imagine.

  • @natlai I guess the purpose was to show the correct movements for the notes.

  • The best version of Frere Jacques I've ever heard.

  • @Eurrsk LOL I just noticed that. Now it looks creepy! LOL! ^_^ I knew that camera angle was bugging me for some reason! lol

  • I think it's in E-flat major.

  • LOL My name in French is "Jean-Luc" lol like Capt. Picard !

  • WAS THIS A REAL EPISODE? SERIOSLY?

  • I have this song on my ipod.

  • @gameboy772 dude. Awesome.

  • hahahaha

  • About 0.22, that next 5/10 seconds of chord progression along with the whistle is just fantastic.

  • Tin Whistles (I think its a Shaw-Whistle) + Star Trek= Epic Win :D

  • You missed the transition fanfare at the end! The most important part!!!

  • It looks like someone else's hands playing that flute, doesn't it?

  • Patrick Stewart really did learn to play the whistle because he wanted very badly to play it himself. His teacher remarked that he had gotten quite good, but they were pressed for time and wanted a stunning performance. Instead they gave Stewart a solid brass prop and earbuds so at the end, he really did seem to play as if it were real.

  • i hate it when people pretend to play instruments really badly

  • God bless.

  • I never quite thought she was worthy of him. I think he has a deeper and more meaningful relationship with Beverly.

  • THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOUUU!

  • Does anyone know if this song is in an Mp3 format? This rendition is so beautiful, mixing the piano and flute. I got the "Inner Light" theme and I just want this rendition of Frere Jacques.

  • If you get it, tell me as well

  • I have the mp3 for this song, and I also found the website for it as well. Leave me a comment, and i will get back to you.

    Brownsugar121224

  • this is the comment, get back to me

  • Me too!

  • They keep marking it as spam. Can you email it to my account? Or is there a website address?

  • Yeah me tooo! Yeah TNG!

  • I WOULD if you don't mind

  • Lovely music, especially from 0:22, but Picard's flute playing face is so awkward, heh.

  • Goddamn I love this piece

  • You sure can

  • check out the stunt hands lol - switches back right near the end.

  • Sssooooooooooo pretty!!! i want them to make a extended version of 'The Inner Light' song!!

  • They did! it's 6 minutes long and features the Paramount Philharmonic Orchastra, Unfoutunatley, YouTube doesn' allow links in comments. PM me if you want a link.

  • they did?Wow! i didn't know! con you send me the link? if it wouldn't be trouble for you...

  • Did you get the Amazon link I sent you?

The tune (6min) is available form Amazon.

  • the 1st time i watched this episode i knew i was witnessing something special. My jaw dropped when the piano part when 2 octaves lower and the whole piece came together.. Beautiful...

  • Moments of these are just part of what made Star Trek so great now it's been dumbed down for Generation Y retards.

  • dont u think she looks like Bev Crusher? May be thats why Picard likes her ......

  • She looks to old for Picard....Either Crusher or Vash should be with the Captain!

  • I see that in 24 century the digital pianos have no better touch than our actual Roland progressive hammer action digital pianos. Háaa háaa háaaa.

  • @jerryaltman Try a Yamaha.

  • I want too see someone play exactly like this with flute and piano the same song.

  • That would be neat. And sorry for marking your comment as spam, I missclicked.

  • LOL xD

  • Was that a recorder? I haven't seen recorder jamming that good since Jethro Tull

  • I hate to be a nitpicker, but the flute is Kataaran, not Resikaan. He only told her that it was Resikaan because he wasn't ready to unveil that side of him.

  • The name of the town he lived in on Kataan was called Ressik, so I think giving them a pass on that is OK.

  • Ressikan theme? Do you mean Inner light song? it has lenght over 4 minutes. Its the same that Picard plays in episode Inner light.

  • The ressikan Theme is availlable in a longer version, played by the composer and his daughter ... is there also a longer version of this somewhere?

  • I do not belive there is since I've seen this episode about a billion times, and I am quite sure this is the whole thing.

BTW: I think it's almost impossible not to love every ressikan music piece there is <3

  • There actually is a piano/flute version of it, but it uses the melody of the longer orchestral version, not the one used in the TNG episode. I've long since lost the mp3 of the piece, but I can vouch that it exists.

  • which season/episode is this?

  • It's season 6, the episode "Lessons".

  • @johannalaforge There's another episode, at least I think there is (maybe its in one of the movies) with Frere Jacques but I seem to remember Picard singing the words. Is it that one where he gets stuck in the shuttletube with the 4 cadets?

  • @AlcoholLevel Yes, you are right. In the 5:th season episode "Disaster", Picard sings Frère Jacques. I know I have it in one of my "Star Trek Music" clips, but I don't know which.

  • fake? ok that is a tv show from the late 80's, early 90's, go and search on youtube for Piano Flexible, how fake does it look

  • Funny. On IMDb it states that the flute is an unplayable prop ;)

  • That would be correct.

  • waha in dutch it isn't even brother we sing father jacob :P this episode is great!

  • This is the very essence of art incorporated through music combined in an episode of Star Trek TNG called "Lessons". This is in my opionion one of the absolutelly best episodes of Star Trek... No further comment is required.

  • I agree. And that woman is one great piece of ass. Which is art of the highest level, I am sure you will agree, my cultured friend.

  • Wow! just as I remember from childhood! I could also listen to this all day.

  • I could listen to this all day.

  • Brilliant! I love tng.

  • Thanks for uploading! I always loved the way they built such a great melody around such a simple song.
