  • She played that in America Samoa LMAOOOOOO

  • Go to Spain lady.....our legs stomp, not pitter patter

  • um Thats not Hawaiian music.....you're fired LMAO

  • I love the woman's face in the back.

  • Taimane is simply amazing!

  • Wow that girls Amazing!

  • just saw her live last night at the ny uke fest 2011... AMAZING

  • I hear alot about her and Jake playing together. Why not? Why don't they tour together? The crowd would really go wild....dueling ukes with passion between two very good looking exotic youths like Romeo and Juliet...Come on guys, even if you are like brother and sister, give us the act, at least once...for youtubers....

  • classy lady she can make that uke talk

  • I haven't seen anyone on You Tube that plays with more passion than this young lady does.

  • I think she has plenty of mojo. See her Johnny B Goode outside Caesars Palace. That's everyone having fun. Makes me get up 'n' move too!

  • I was hearing this on the radio while getting hired in the rain at Mok'e's Bread and Breakfast in Kailua, Ho!! haha. too crazy. I love her so much. Chee.

  • Sorry, but it's too technical for me. Amazing technique.. but I just didn't enjoy it..and that's what a good musician should do , makes you ENJOY the actual piece, just HEAR the music and not see the musician behind it. Didn't do it for me. I kept thinking of the girl and what her background is while I watched her technique but if she ever put out a CD I wouldn't buy it. Needs to work on the emotional part

  • @joneengl I hate to admit that I agree but I do. A pretty girl playing the uke? Can't miss right? I have watched many videos of her and at no point does she ever seem to enjoy herself and honestly the people watching her never sem to have fun either. They just stand there amazed that she can play the technical stuff. The uke is such a happy little instrument and should bring enjoyment to everyone involved.

  • @hairymoose1974 Have you ever thought that maybe she enjoys playing the technical stuff? She looks very passionate about what she does and I would highly doubt that she does not enjoy playing

  • @hairymoose1974 I'm afraid I agree too. It's a shame, she does have incredible talent, but it seems she's being badly advised. Her album is weak, and you get tired watching her strumming and jumping pretty fast. She could do so much better! I'm afraid that's what happens when you find yourself in the limelight too young, you get stuck in an image or a pattern. I wish she got to focus on developing as a *musician* rather than being constantly showcased as a virtuous that plays really fast...

  • @lsamoa Hey... because that absolutely happened to Mozart, Chopin, Beethoven, Bach etc, etc, etc...

  • @Hoopermazing That's what happens to most musicians in the same boat as her. As for "Mozart, Chopin, Beethoven, Bach etc, etc, etc": dude, she's not even close to being in the same league as them. Get real. Maybe when she starts composing bloody symphonies or anything remotely as complex and sophisticated as that, then we could start having this conversation. Until then: no.

  • wow I played the same piece (Malaguena) on the guitar when I was 10, on Montreal local TV station.

    this is, of course, wild.

  • I met this young lady at Lalomanu Beach Resort in Apia, just last week(July 18, 2010) where I spent last few days of my vacation with my family from Pago, before heading back to the States. She's really cool, classy person and very talented with the Ukulele...I missed her concert in Pago by like a day; hope someday I get to see her play live !

  • :O She is Awesome!!!!!

  • pinchi vieja loca

  • Actually, this whole video is basically "Let's Dance" by Jake Shimabukuro. Not sure if he wrote it, but he definitely played it. The beginning sounds improvised, and the Toccata and Fugue in Dm were put in. I've never heard it quite played this way at all. Well done! I'm actually gonna post my interpretation of it soon. It's a lot closer to Jake's one though. Maybe I'll improvise.

  • @ehukai2003 Actually, the Let's Dance only starts about 1:30. Also, Jake wipes the floor with this girl. If you watch her technique, she only has 3 basic styles and her finger picking is very sloppy.

Also, what's the deal with a 2 finger tremolo. Weird.

I mean it's nice and all, but not exactly clean playing if you look closely.

  • @eschelar Actually, "this girl" is one of Jake's students. If you watch some of her other videos, you will see that she incorporates more than three basic styles into her playing. She is a very talented ukulele player.

  • @eschelar There are many technically accomplished musicians, but this girl has that extra spark that marks her out. Watch this space!

  • this girl and jake shimabukuro need to make a CD!

  • wow....

  • holy shit awesommeee

  • increiiibleeeeee

  • anybody know the name of the classical piece she breaks into in the middle? sounds bachish

  • Fully bachish! Toccata and Fugue in D minor, usually played on the pipe organ

  • Dr. ... I am in love with you.

  • It's a Malaguena.

  • shes very bootiful and quaaazy.....ive just discovered her today and i cant get enough....she is versed in many different styles.....God has certainly given her a talent......

  • ukulele virtuoso taimane gardner

  • GREAT! Just great Taimane. Hello from Burke, VA a suburb of Washington, DC. I hope to get out to Hawaii this fall and I'll make it a point to bring my family to where ever you are performing. Love your surf medleys too!

    Aloha.

  • i would pay alot of money for an album of taimane and jake shimabukuro together
