One of the hardest songs to follow in tones and variations is "Money Changes Everything" and listening that live it's just a different thing Cyndi Lauper has done a great job with that song.

they were both Pop stars, Cindy's career simply plummeted as her voice alone couldn't help her stay on top. there's more to "vocal talent" in the music world. this goes to show you that a good stage performance, videos and MOST IMPORTANTLY: the albums you put out make a difference. I was a bit shocked with some off-pitch moments in Madonna's performances, e.g. 3:49 to 3:56....but I am impressed with her ostentatious production numbers in her concerts...costumes, dance moves and the persona. =) And like what other people have said...she is more of a dancer and performer than a singer.

they were both Pop stars, Cindy's career simply plummeted as her voice alone couldn't help her stay on top. there's more to "vocal talent" in the music world. this goes to show you that a good stage performance, videos and MOST IMPORTANTLY: the albums you put out make a difference. I love Cindy but her discographic material has been WEAK. she relies now on reprising her OLD hits. while Madonna keeps making new ones.

She may not be selling them like Madonna but she's still releasing albums that have mostly garnered favorable reviews among the top music mags (Billboard, RollingStone). As a true chameleon of music, Cyndi changed the entire show and released a Blues Album which has been sitting at #1 on Billboard Blues charts for 11 weeks now. That is what a true reinvention is, change the entire music direction. And Succeed.

you can compare that voice of a backing vocal singer? obvious Madonna and Cyndi can do that note, but Madonna just prefer putt that woman singing cause that song is a little bit gospel....
So tell me why Cyndi never singing When in you mine high note in the same note of studio? she sing that song in her Dvd and she do a Playback cause is a F#6 and she live not can do this just in studio when she can do C7

Cyndi has never released When you were mine in any DVD, you are saying false things! Cyndi sang when you were mine in the past with a different tones in her voice, but in her last tour she retook that song again and she sang it with the same level in her voice, even 25 later! could be Madonna do it? I dont think so man!

I was talking about "When you were mine", she sang it with the same level in her last tour..., and yes i saw her in divas live too, She doest need to prove that she knows how to sing True colors , in low tones or high tones...Leona was so happy to sing with her. But I think Madonna Will never be invited to sing in Divas live because she needs to use her playback and this resource is not accepted in these events..

I think, you never see a madonna show in your life, just believe in comments of Madonna haters!!!! Can Cyndi do a Evita Sound Track? Dont Cry for me Argentina for example? but live she never do this. And Madonna in Ray of ligh, never do playback in high note, that note in Cd is Bb5, and in Oprah show she do C#6-B5 in chest voice, and in recent versions she do C6, D6 and E6 in head voice.
So Cyndi is Knowed for her high notes, but Madonna can do this to but she no use this everytime like Cyndi.

Had the pleasure last year of seein Cyndi live in Glasgow and she totally blew me away!! I've been to loads of gigs and festivals but nothin will ever compare to the awesomeness of Miss Lauper!!!!

I was a bit shocked with some off-pitch moments in Madonna's performances, e.g. 3:49 to 3:56....but I am impressed with her ostentatious production numbers in her concerts...costumes, dance moves and the persona. =) And like what other people have said...she is more of a dancer and performer than a singer.

Music critics know the answer to this so-called vocal battle. Cyndi Lauper is known for her vocal prowess & visual artistry and Madonna for her knack in repackaging herself, dance performances, etc. Thus, Cyndi Lauper wins this vocal battle but this does not discredit Madonna's artistry. I think Madonna is smart enough to concentrate on her non-vocal abilities to buttress her musical career. Ain't that nifty or what? Cyndi's clearly the superior singer but Madonna is the 'pop icon.'

madge's longest notes are mechanically enhanced on stage, just watch the ones with close ups of her mouth. No doubt that madge is a gifted performer, but can you really compare her voice to cyndi? I think not. madge is a performer. Cyndi goes out there and sings 'LIVE'.. cyn does not need large graphics, dancers, crosses and other distractions that takes the focus off of her and her voice. Cyn has a fabulous voice and wants the focus on her and her voice. I've seen cyn in concert 20 times.#1

First of all, they are both very talented performers. Truth is, they are just different. Cyndi came first, and she was a huge sensation and could have continued that route had she just cranked out studio album after studio album. Cyndi didn't want to do that, she wanted to be true to herself and make quality, artistic music that wasn't always popular with the masses. truth is madonna copied cyn's look, pushed out radio records and took a free ride on the road that cyndi paved for her. Again i think the videos you selected for Cyndi are poor. Cyndi was in her prime in the 80s and you pick 2 clips with poor quality from that period. Same time you pick 5 80s clips for Madonna. The fact is Tina Turner, Cher and Patti labelle has praised Cyndi singing ability. Here comes you with this biased video. Your comment says it all (Everybody knows Cyndi is the worst singer ever.)

Listen to your video at 3:04 to 17. Do you call this good quality. I have see many people claiming that Cyndi had 4 octaves with pitch perfect voice when she was in her prime. Also when you says Cyndi has only 3.4. octaves, doesn't make it so. You are only expressing your opinion.

Cyndi has better vocal power and range then Madonna. This video is clearly made by Madonna fan and it shows as he/she picks Cyndi clips with poor quality and then compares it to Madonna clips with better quality. This is lame way to compare who has the better vocal range. Just check on Cyndi performance Money changes Everything live in Paris and Texas. Cyndi doesn't need dancers and bunch of extra like Madonna to entertain the audiences.
