  • now how about some live footage with sound?

  • I remember hearing a story about Dave in high school. I lived on the other side of the lake from him. Something about his Principal suspending him for his long hair. His parents made him cut it to get back into school ? Just to piss of the Principal he wore a long hair wig upon his return and ran from the screaming principal in the hallway when he saw him ? I'm sure that isn't exactly how it happened but that is the gist of it. Always a rebel. Miss you Dave !

  • jealous???

  • Bald,beer bellied and broke,thus the Fuckits!

  • I saw the Rockets in 1978..the were the second act on a three band bill with 38 Special opening and The Outlaws were the headliner. It was at the Nassau Coliseum on Long Island. Place was sold out with 18,000 peopl and the crownd never gave the Rockets a chance...booed them from the first song....Proof that long Island is filled with ignorant douchebags that wouldn't know good music if it bit them in the ass. As I have lived on Long Island my whole life, I am qualified to say that.

  • I'd have to agree with you. Friggin' half of them live down here in Florida now. Outside of that, I saw the Rockets a couple of times in the late '70s. Damn fine band. Always a good show. RIP Dave Gilbert. Dude was a helluva singer.

  • The Rockets self-titled album is a forgotten gem. I remember hearing them on the radio a lot in the summer of '78.

  • The Rockets had that Detroit rock sound exactly right. David Gilbert delivered.

  • Any Rockets footage is great!! Thank you!!

  • luved the rockets! would like to see some more footage since their stuff is so hard to get now. -- jamie in SCS

  • Big bang? Who do you think "lit the fuse"?

  • We'll see who the idiot is come judgment day. Remember your words when you stand before Christ.

  • I'm married to his sister. I get a free pass. you schivoso, you.

  • No one alive to prove it? Look around. This all didn't get here by accident.

  • You are truly an idiot!!

  • Actually, it was an accident. The BIG BANG or haven't ya heard about it??

I realize that it is just a theory and all, but it sure is WAY more scientific than your idea.

  • The Red Carpet was great. Played there many times with bands like The Romantics and Bootsey X and The Lovemasters as well as brother Wayne Kramer. In between Cactus and The Rockets, saw Jim McCarty with Johnny B play there in a band called Honey Boy. And Zenos, your anti God comments really are pretty stupid. You're gonna have to stand before Him someday to answer for that.

  • Jerry Falwell is dead and there ain't no god. At least no one is ALIVE to prove it, dudeski

  • David gilbert was a true "Rock Star". Geri in St. Clair Shores

  • Yeah, I have a legitimate reason for thinking it.

Because it is a legitimitely stupid comment.

So you're happier that he is dead than turning to God.

You sound like a real fan...

  • All I am saying is, many desperate people go that route and it is not realistic. He pretty much did "straighten up" but it was too late, His liver was gone and as long as I have my ROCKETS records he still is alive. I have many vivdid memories of the band on that tiny RED CARPET LOUNGE stage sounding better than any band in Detroit at the time.

And besides, can you imagine how the life would be sucked out of "RAMONA" if he was singin' "Jesus, can't ya see I need ya" c'mon now

    LOL

  • The RED CARPET was the GREATEST!! It great to know that someone else remembers the best Rock and Roll bar of all time. Davey gilbert lives on forever. I still have my "Rocket Records and my Red Carpet T Shirt. Geri in SCS MI

  • How could I forget it. I also played at that bar MANY MANY times in the mid to late 70's

  • What was the bands names?

  • What? and blow my cover??

  • I had the pleasure of seeing this band numerous times at the RED CARPET LOUNGE in Detroit, MI. in the mid to late 70s' as well as being in bands that opened for them on several occasions. THEY DON'T MAKE EM' LIKE THAT ANYMORE Remember "RAMONA"? cancha see I love you!!

  • No Sound??

    ARRRRGH!!!

The Rockets were a great band, David was a fantastic lead singer with tremendous stage presense. RIP, Dave..

  • And a hell of a nice guy. I had the pleasure of knowing him personally. It' just too bad that he was so dependent on the vices. But at least he didn't turn to "god"! as a last resort.

  • Now ***THAT*** was a stupid comment!!!

  • Why is that stupid? If you have a legite reason for thinking it, that's great. But, if you are one that believes in fairy tales and REALLY think it would have saved him, then you're a moron, But that's OK. the world needs morons to laugh at.

  • Thanks for putting this video on YouTube. The Rockets are one of my favorite bands of all time.
