Bring back Converse sneakers in the NBA! Shoes have improved over the years but the rate of injuries went up? Someone told me that the players get injured more often NOW than back then. I'm only 20 and realize that everything in basketball now -- is plain ugly compared to the earlier decades. I hate turning on an NBA game and seeing wannabe thugs with tattoos and Nasa designed shoes. That's just my opinion. Lmao
@kixmgc because maybe before they only brodcast the finals or playoffs during that time or lost some of its films maybe thats the reason as you see we only often see in youtube the 1950's finals and 60's and 70s
When the Hawks took this championship. there was almost 800,000 living within the city limits. Ten years later, it was like a mass bail-out had happened. Money was leaving the city with the people relocating. StLUniv and StL Hawks were representative of our local best and both were falling on hard times by 1968. StL is not a huge hockey town but StL is a big basketball town with many legends over many decades, either side of the river.
It's a shame that St. Louis could never support pro basketball. The Hawks had some good teams when they were there, but the team rarely had big crowds. The final nail was when the NHL Blues started up, and they packed the old St. Louis Arena. I guess St. Louis isn't a big basketball city.
Atlanta and Sacramento had the longest NBA title drought, they won their title way back in the 1950s, and both were relocated then in St.Louis and Rochester. still, this is an accomplishment for the Hawks, being the only other team besides the Lakers, to beat the Celtics in a championship series.
I've waited fifty - yes, fifty - years for this! As an eleven-year old Boston kid I listened to the 1958 championships on a crystal radio I had built and alligator-clipped to my school's cyclone fence for an antenna. Pettit's 50 hurt. Until last night. WTG Team.
If Russell didn't get hurt in game 3 of this series, the Celts would have won in 5....eh whatever, they're not even the St. Louis Hawks anymore....Atlanta and 1,000 fans a game lol
wow, this quality is actually impressive. and I see that kid at :11 in all of these old videos haha.

Why did boston let them run out the clock? Why no intentional foul?
And where's the actual tip-in?
