I am not going to make a judgement on Dr. Schaap because of this video. Anyone take a statement of most sermons and twist it out of context and make it sound like something that it was not meant to imply. I have personally heard Dr. Schaap on many occasions. Well, if you have heard Schaap you would KNOW he is of the devil, with his FALSE Social Gospel, hardly ever mentioning the name of Jesus nor any Scripture! I went to youth conference every year and saw dr jack schaap. Its not that I am smarter than everybody else but I have looked and the bible is incredibly inaccurate and full of either things that are lies or things that cant be proven or disproven. If any thinking person looks at the bible and religion they would get that it is bullshit.
All Baptists worship Pastors. Catholics look up to one man "the pope." And other cardinals/priests but we dont call them "men of God" and put them on a pedestal like Baptists do "big difference."

@southsidecubfan also if we study the book of Acts, we see no pope, cardinals, archbishops, bishops, nor do we see any type of catholic teaching. one way of supporting this is that peter as well as the other apostles taught baptism by full immersion after conversion. catholics teach baptism as infants, which is thus a heresy. finally if you study the history of the catholic church you will find that it in fact broke off of christianity around the year 300 A.D. with the rise of constantine.

We are saved by grace it is not of anything we have done or we could do but it is the umerited favour of a Christ's exspense although we are saved by grace there also must work or acts of our faith, hence repentce, baptism etc. We can't work for our salvation but there must be works of salvation.
baptism has nothing to do with somebody getting saved, baptism is a Christian (born again) first act of obiedience, and the call for repentance DOES NOT men turn from sin, but to realize the guilt of their sin, there's no work involved with salvation thats free and eternaly secure

1. Repentance of sins is a work that must be accomplished every day, not because we want eternal life but because we have eternal life.
2. Baptism is a work we do after salvation to show we have been saved, this is not a part of saving grace and never will be. Paul came to preach the gospel, not baptize people.
3. Seeking the will of God is what we do every day.
4. This is something we must do every day, again, because WE ARE saved.
Yeah, he also said he that believeth not is condemned. It does not say, 'he that believeth not and is not baptized is condemned.' Believing is far more important than getting baptized and joining a church.

The sermon Dr. Hyles was preaching was called "Passing the Baton". It was at Pastor's School '99. I was there to hear it, and I have one of the engraved batons sitting on my bookcase right now. This video makes it appear as if Dr. Hyles was preaching against Dr. Schapp, but the names he said were Billy Graham and W.A. Criswell. He was dead long before Dr. Schapp made this statement.
I've heard Dr. Schaap preach several times and usually when he sayes something controversial it's for shock value before he preaches the truth. Now, it's been several years since I've heard Dr. Schaap, and I'm not going to judge him by a minute of one of his sermons taken out of context. People can change and he may have, but I'm not going to assume it just because of two lines in a sermon looks that way. And any true would want to hear the rest instead of complaining and causing contention.
If you think that was something, you should of heard how Bro. Schaap rebuked the pope after hearing that he said that only Catholics go to heaven. Let's just say that Bro. I understand the need to defend the testimony of Jack Schaap. I'll come right out and say it- I'm for Jack Schaap. But only because when his testimony is tarnished I talk to the tarnisher, research his evidence, and find that in every case, they are wrong. Don't just call names, research and prove them wrong.

People need to be shown love without judgements. Just remember that to the Catholic believers who hear people condemning their leader in that manner, as opposed to a more tactful one, it is a very big TURN-OFF to Christianity. Yeah sure, I'd love to run around fighting hell with a water pistol and shouting how Jesus saves and be blunt; but people don't respond to that.
Discussing doctrinal errors and how to defend your faith should be taught in a setting where people can ask questions and get involved with the discussion, instead of just being told what to believe. And I agree with you, the pope and other people who, as followers of Christ, we believe are lost and faced with a grime eternal future, need more prayer than they are given.
Yes, doctrinal error should be talked about. But I believe that more time should be spent on preaching Biblical doctrine from the pulpit, and less time on debating whether the pope is in heaven or hell, or what have you.

House fires and souls are two different things. Most people don't know that their soul is at risk, let alone believe that they have one. Churches. I've seen it from fundamentalist independent baptist (Hyles Alumni), free will baptist, southern baptist, nondenominational, etc. Christians are human, but take a little responsibility for your actions. "The devil made me do it" is such a cop out.
Um yea, I've been in Christian education for 13 years. CEF (Child Evangelism Fellowship) for 6 years. 8 mission trips around the globe. Traveled two years with an open air group. And talked to people in all walks of life about Christ, from drug dealers to every type of "religious" follower you could imagine. And I've never met anyone who didn't appreciate politeness.

@southsidecubfan also if we study the book of Acts, we see no pope, cardinals, archbishops, bishops, nor do we see any type of catholic teaching. one way of supporting this is that peter as well as the other apostles taught baptism by full immersion after conversion. catholics teach baptism as infants, which is thus a heresy. finally if you study the history of the catholic church you will find that it in fact broke off of christianity around the year 300 A.D. with the rise of constantine.

1. Repentance of sins is a work that must be accomplished every day, not because we want eternal life but because we have eternal life.
2. Baptism is a work we do after salvation to show we have been saved, this is not a part of saving grace and never will be. Paul came to preach the gospel, not baptize people.
3. Seeking the will of God is what we do every day.
4. This is something we must do every day, again, because WE ARE saved.

The sermon Dr. Hyles was preaching was called "Passing the Baton". It was at Pastor's School '99. I was there to hear it, and I have one of the engraved batons sitting on my bookcase right now. This video makes it appear as if Dr. Hyles was preaching against Dr. Schapp, but the names he said were Billy Graham and W.A. Criswell. He was dead long before Dr. Schapp made this statement.

I've heard Dr. Schaap preach several times and usually when he sayes something controversial it's for shock value before he preaches the truth. Now, it's been several years since I've heard Dr. Schaap, and I'm not going to judge him by a minute of one of his sermons taken out of context. People can change and he may have, but I'm not going to assume it just because of two lines in a sermon looks that way. And any true would want to hear the rest instead of complaining and causing contention.

I realize that John wrote this, but Paul teaches plainly that all scripture is given by inspiration of God, and we know that Jesus and God are one.
There is nothing good whatsoever about the Pope. His very title is "The Holy Father", nothing good can be said about someone who's whole purpose in life is to belittle the work and Word of Christ.
Mr. Schaap, I dont have to be "the leader of a large sized congregation" to criticize the pope... All I need to do is read my Bible.

He said the Pope did his best - not that he did God's will. He said that the pope went to his eternal destination - not that he's in heaven. Do you think God rejoiced at the death of the pope?

He says, "I want them to know the truth." Schaap seems to me to be saying that we need to show compassion - that we need to reach out to the lost through compassion. That's just Biblical.

Dr. Hyles, if he really accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior (because at the end of the day, only you can tell if you're saved or not), is in heaven.
What if you make a specific Biblical stand that i don't believe is true, may i discuss them with you?

However, it's their business, not ours. Do you ever think that your stand in your local church are absolutely true? Yes, you may answer. But why are there Baptist that greets Merry Christmas, while some Baptist churches don't like the greeting at all? (that's only one example)

From what I heard, it sounded more like Schaap was saying that the catholics, particulary the teens, saw the pope as a man of God, not so much that HE thought he was. His care is for the lost catholics. By the way, any of you pray for the salvation of the pope lately? He needs it, too!

ok u all r wrong schapp is wrong and everyone knows he cant be biblically backed up i believe we should be kind to people but i wouldnt neccesarily call the pope a man of GOd he is a stinkin fake prophet schapp says alot of things that cant be backed up biblically such as some things he says in his intamacy book and his messege about how God hates the world but come on which one of us has who is without sin cast the first stone.

I understand the need to defend the testimony of Jack Schaap. I'll come right out and say it- I'm for Jack Schaap. But only because when his testimony is tarnished I talk to the tarnisher, research his evidence, and find that in every case, they are wrong. Don't just call names, research and prove them wrong.

The evidence the "contender crowd" (Mark Turner, Tom Neal, Greg Neal, etc.) is based on the Bible. Everything they have said is based on Biblical truths. MR. JACK SCHAAP IS PREACHING HERESY. Look in the Bible and show me something to back up Schaap. You won't find anything.

People need to be shown love without judgements. Pure love that says, I hate sin but I love you; and that the only reason I can love you that way is because someone else loves me unconditionally...etc. In the world today there's already enough voices shouting for people's attention: to be this, or do this, or have this; why not go back to the basics.

Just remember that to the Catholic believers who hear people condemning their leader in that manner, as opposed to a more tactful one, it is a very big TURN-OFF to Christianity. Yeah sure, I'd love to run around fighting hell with a water pistol and shouting how Jesus saves and be blunt; but people don't respond to that.

Discussing doctrinal errors and how to defend your faith should be taught in a setting where people can ask questions and get involved with the discussion, instead of just being told what to believe. And I agree with you, the pope and other people who, as followers of Christ, we believe are lost and faced with a grime eternal future, need more prayer than they are given.

Yes, doctrinal error should be talked about. But I believe that more time should be spent on preaching Biblical doctrine from the pulpit, and less time on debating whether the pope is in heaven or hell, or what have you.

speaking against false doctrine IS doctrine. Read 2Tim 4:1-4. It shouldn't perhaps be out primary goal, as there are many doctrines in the Bible to teach, but neither should false doctrine be winked at and ignored, because false doctrine will take a soul to hell. That's serious. It should be done in love, but it must be done

House fires and souls are two different things. Most people don't know that their soul is at risk, let alone believe that they have one. So acting like a pompous, arrogant, and dare I say prick; flailing about like you know more, are better than, and blatantly disrespecting someone else isn't going to "get them out to safety" any faster.

You know what's tough to take, the fact that most people don't want anything to do with our God because Christians will preach all about what "you should do" and when push comes to shove they can't back it up. I've seen Christians do things that the "damned" wouldn't even dream of doing. I've seen more money laundered, affairs had, children's innocence violated, and lies told out of a church in the name of God that it's not even funny.

A fish rots from the head down. I'm so tired of "Godly" people raping the name of Christ and manipulating it to suit their own purpose, just because they have access to a microphone. Some of that preaching about being honest and having morals needs to be applied within the churches own four walls. I'm not perfect, but I don't pretend to be either. I'd rather people see me than some facade I've built.

I know what the Bible says. We do need to know what we believe and others believe so that we can defend our faith. All I'm saying is it turns people off to have someone yell against them and call their leader a "victor of hell." We can speak against false doctrine without acting like a small child. That's what Scaap basically said, that his heart broke for the Catholic people because they looked to someone that he felt was leading them astray. He did all that without sounding like jerk too.

So, apparently Jesus raped his own name when He publically called the Pharisees, who many people respected and relied upon, "Whited sepulchres, a brood of vipers, hypocrites" in the sight of the people. we shouldn't TRY to offend, but face it, people get ofended by the name of Christ and His truths-they always have. hat's why the catholic church killed so many who opposed the wicked doctrines of transubstantiation and the giving of indulgences-burned them alive and tortured millions. People say it was in the name of Christ, but it was by the Pope's command.

and please, let me know what church does all those terrible things, so I can be sure to avoid it. However, Christians are human like anyone else, and often more prone to sin, because the devil pushes us harder to ruin our testimonies and make Christ look bad-and the pastors ought to be preaching against that, too. Churches. I've seen it from fundamentalist independent baptist (Hyles Alumni), free will baptist, southern baptist, nondenominational, etc. Christians are human, but take a little responsibility for your actions. "The devil made me do it" is such a cop out.

Um yea, I've been in Christian education for 13 years. CEF (Child Evangelism Fellowship) for 6 years. 8 mission trips around the globe. Traveled two years with an open air group. And talked to people in all walks of life about Christ, from drug dealers to every type of "religious" follower you could imagine. And I've never met anyone who didn't appreciate politeness.
