  • My dog is an Atheist.....

  • @pamelamarxsen ya i know..well i cant look after her 24/7 coz im not at home all day..what is a playpen btw and how do u use it? I dont/havent clicker trained her yet.

  • click and treat that must be halloween for dogs

  • Hi There,

I have been teaching my dog this trick for a while and he picks things up really quickly. I have been using the clicker but he doesn't tuck his head under when I say the command, he just puts his paws up.

I do make sure I click and reward with treats when his head is tucked but he doesn't seem to do it. I have practiced this command for about a month.

Any idea how to make him tuck his head?

    Kind Regards

    Anna :)

  • @Jack0Maisie You could try to lure his head down under your arm or tuck his head under with your hand or by targeting your hand. Reinforce in the position that you want. Mark with your clicker or with a word when his head is tucked under and then feed in the position. Hope that helps. I am pretty sure that I lured in the video and fed under my arm to get the head tucked. Take care! Good Luck!

  • hi @pamelamarxsen i have a 2 month old shih tzu pup..shell be 3 months this nov 3..so i was teaching her a few tricks yday..she has a short attention span...im having problems with her coz she wont do the things i tell her to do..and shes still not potty trained how do i do it?thanks

  • @justpinahy Puppies do have a short attention span. That is normal! Maybe she does not really understand what you want her to do. Have you been clicker training her? She is still really too young to be completely potty trained. It depends on the dog, the consistency in your training, and setting her up to succeed (by keeping an eye on her at all times and when you can't watch her use a crate or playpen). Take her out to the potty spot often and REWARD her when she does "potty" outside! :)

  • We call this trick 'shame on you'. It's so cute!

  • It is impossible to train mine!

  • i decited to geta chihuhua but this little girl is afraid of the clicker, dont like treats much and is soo hyper and dont want to learn anything. she is 2 months and half.

  • @vidgirl4444 Does your pup eat her regular meals? If so, use that food to train with and do not feed her out of a bowl. Use that resource of her meal as her reward for doing things around the house. I carry my puppy's food with me all day and whenever he is doing something I like, I give him a piece of food. She might just not be hungry. Does she like toys? You could get a quieter clicker or use a marking word (yes or yep). Send me a message if you need more help! Take care!

  • @pamelamarxsen Hey there she is 5 months now and knows sit, shake, hight five. Down still working on it. and stay!

Im trying to teach her how to bow but she thinks i want her to lay down.

She been biting a bit any tips??

  • @vidgirl4444 For biting, reinforce her for not biting. hunkymonkeykaine has a wonderful video training a dog not to bite. I know what you mean about the bow, but keep trying and clicking for elbows on the ground and then if he does down, and you did click, get him up before you feed him the reward. I have had similar problems with the Bow with Twix. I will try to post a video soon. :) There is always something to work on! :) That is the joy of having a dog! Take care!

  • @pamelamarxsen Thank you! Right now im teaching her to potty OUTSIDE! no more pads! little hard but still working at it. If you know any tips please let me know. She is also a PICKY eater dont eat when i put her food down on that time.

  • @vidgirl4444 awww! I got a puppy called a golden doodle! Hes 12 weeks old...I am not sure if u did but did u pick out of the litter?

  • @vidgirl4444 Might have been a better idea to get a real dog.

  • @FallenKain my CHIHUAHUA is 11 months old now!!

  • how can i train my toy poodle to do this trick on a small table

  • @vidgirl4444 The same way, one paw on the table, two paws, feed her with her head kind of under the table. Check out zsianz1 for a tutorial on how to train it on a table. :) Sian has some great videos!

  • @pamelamarxsen thank you so much!!!

  • Awesome tutorial Pam:). The tricks at the end were great too. How did you teach Isabelle to cover her nose with her paw? That trick is too cute!!

  • Thanks! I read that if you blow lightly in the dogs nose, they will sneeze. I was trying to get her to sneeze on cue and she covered her nose instead. So, I clicked and worked on that trick instead. With Bandit I used the gentle leader and as he tried to get it off, I clicked and treated multiple times. Thanks again!

  • @pamelamarxsen Thank you for replying so quickly:). I will be sure to give it a try with Kaine:).

  • I have my dog put both her paws on me and then i say " Pray" and she speaks .

  • superb! I have just taught this to my chocolate lab Tillie, following your tutorial - excellent - many thanks x

  • Please post a video response! I would love to see Tillie say her prayers! Thanks for the nice comment!

  • Hi Pam, nice to see your other dog doing tricks! I will try to teach it to my dogs!

  • super video!

  • I've also had the same problem with the heights of the objects. It's really hard to find any fitting objects. I would've thought about using my arms before! Going to teach this trick to Della and Cherie now :D

    Also, I'm amazed by Isabelle's sneeze-trick. It's so cute!

    Thank you! 5* and fav!

    - Nenne, Della, and Cherie

  • Great Video. I give 5 stars :)

  • Very cool! 5 *

  • I've failed so far in teaching this - other than I have been training it using a chair. Once he is allowed to use his front legs (he is post-op) I will try this method with my arm - thanks Pam.

  • love it! I've been doing this with Mi but use a table cause she gets excited and digs her claws into my arm! hehe

  • C'est trop mignon!! :o) et c'est très intéressant de voir comment tu attends, et comment le chien réagit. à bientôt :o)

  • great video Pam :-) awesome as always.

  • great job :) ! loved it .. thanks for sharing 5*

  • you constantly inspire me.

  • Love it!! I'll give it a try:) How do you shape Isabelle's paw over her nose? How about a tutorial for that?:))

  • Yes, please -- I was going to ask the same thing.
