I think the themes becomes personal here: illustrating that questions of commitment, marriage, the roles, and ideologies built into long term relationships are being considered non-ironically, non-sarcastically. When the flames ignite, Kimbra, and the girls start dance: I wonder what this suggests? I mean I have my suspicions.

You know what I want: a really good kick flip, catching it with my back foot, pointing it out a little, and stomping it out over the bolts. Or a good home-brew IPA.

so the performer is very mechanical/artificial in motion, sort of fitting the theme of the dolls. Dolls, specifically a Ken and Barbie relationship is referenced. The question of marriage, the routine of it all is explored. There are moments where Kimbra is mocking the institution and the dynamics of (heterosexual) marriage, the child who stands in place of the adult woman suggests how uncanny the whole arrangement is. But there is that moment at 2:11 where Kimbra address the camera directly.

good performance yes, but the burning dolls thing is neither here nor there. the whole sequence was probably shot in layers (i.e. green-screened). the burning dolls, kimbra, and the two girls are all likely different shots. it's doubtful a producer would've played the lottery and hoped for first-time perfection on such a long sequence.
