lol, the japanese are good at incorporating a lot of other cultures fables and mythologies into a lot of their work. Look at Final Fantasy and how much norse mythology was incorporated into it.

Ah, the memories...

20 years since it was first shown and it still holds its own against the animes of today. Good concept (saints), moral values and lessons, great soundtrack(!).

The action was a little repetitive though and some of the vilans could have been less one dimensional.
