What exactly are you using to film your videos? I can't get my hits so sound close to yours. That could because of my set though, but when I play it is starting to sound rough, even though I am a really relaxed player. Any tips on getting the base hits to be more complete and increased in speed?
A regular Panasonic camcorder. Nothing special at all. You definitely need to make sure that you're kit has a good overall tuning.
Being really relaxed might be the problem. I play relaxed but I really whip the stick. You've got to hit with some force for the sound to come out right. Most on youtube just tap their drums. You can't get volume and depth that way.
Bass drum, I play heal up and I don't hit it lightly. As far as speed? Just lots of repetitive practice. Does that help at all?
