I enjoyed your princess bride video btw - its a keeper.
1Co 13:8 Love never faileth: [,,,,,,]11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things. 12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known. 13 And now abideth faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love. People on the physical inside - fyi - are not symmetrical, organs are on different sides. It is interesting that people use many times the left or right hand, and the brain reportadly is geared towards different uses by side, but I think this may be a learned behavior, and people are naturally ambidextrous. Also, sometimes left right diffences may be reflected in the face
All of your facial comparsions assume that the facial plane in the picture you're using is absolutly parallel with the camera lense. You'd have to measure with a laser when taking the picture to insure this.Probably less than 99% of the pictures you're using are that way.It would basically be shear luck to get it perfect.Shannon Doherty type, I'll give you those. But you can't use the mirror effect thing for a face that's not noticable otherwise, unless you have guaranteed parallel plane pic.
This video makes no sense and the poster is trying to make a point that's baseless. Of course nobody is perfectly symmetrical, if they were they'd look like aliens like they do on this video. God created a a little asymmetry with symmetry.
Bottom line is good looking people are MORE symmetrical than those who aren't good looking and this video poster needs to accept that reality.
this vidoe should be debunked it all bullshit, scientific studies have already proved symmetry is attractive, men with symmetry have sperm that swim straight, so women are attracted to them, its underbedded eugenics that is installed in us.
The message of the video at the end, although noble, is simply not true. If anything, this video reinforced the fact that "more" symmetrical faces are beautiful.
Great symmetry with a little asymmetry makes for a physically beautiful person. There's no such thing as perfect symmetry as this video has reinforced. It simply looks unatural.
I read an article where it said that only around 5 - 7% of all people are considered good looking. Unfair but unfortunately true.
that is stupd i have seen a lo of guys that have symtrical face and they are ugly!
my face arenot symetrical at all and so is my mother and people all the time are telling to my mother that she is verry good looking and most of blinde dates i had with guys they wanted me and a lot of them told me im so pretty and sometimes people are telling me i need to be a model.
only asymmetry that matters is random asymmetry; not directional (if left side is consistently bigger/smaller/higher..etc -- it doesn't count!).
However - is more complex still, because high symmetry in men correlates with testosterone, which correlates with cheating and beating, which make symmetrical (die-hard macho-man) faces seem less attractive to female, who prefure mix of babyface and macho-man features (for trust reasons).
so answer to question is more complicated than yes or no.
The symmetry thing is about a geno-types ability to maintain a consistent pheno-type under environmental stress. But that, in the male case, has to be balanced against the negative aspects of that. Also testosterone reduced immunity, so there is the idea there is correlation to having better immunity genes with high testosterone, but its not the rule in every case. Females similar rule applies, but with oestrogen instead of testosterone.
no it does prove a point, no ones! not even the most perfect seeming people in the world have perfectly symmetrical faces.... except maybe brad pitt he looked about the same when you did his haha
cool experiment except there was an experiment using this method on audrey hepburn done my experts and when they did it they found no difference because she was so incredibly symmetrical. keira knightley looks mad there!
Hitzaskar has a point their, but I still like the vid, and agree with ettminusett that an unsymmetrical person with a great personality can be very beautiful. Everyone got in my opinion something that is beautiful!
the only problem with this is that the theory about symmetrical beauty requires that the face is photographed dead straight. all of the photos that you used had people with their heads slightly tilted or facing slightly off centre, so because of the three-dimensionality of a face, of course it'll look strange when you mirror one side only. find a photo of a beautiful person with a neutral expression on their face, and facing the camera DEAD CENTRE, and then try again
Funny experiment. Beauty lies in proportions also and you distorted them when you added symmetry. I think in general beauty lies in proportions, symmetry, colours and so on. But a symmetric person with an ugly personality isnt beautiful and a unsymmetrical person with a great personality can be very beautiful. So i agree with you to some extent.
even with the right picture angle, no one looks good perfectly symetrical.

Now take a bunch of ugly people and make them symmetrical.

Some of these people are extremely ugly without makeup and airbrush. And all these people have different shape eyes, nose and their lips arent full.

"because high symmetry in men correlates with testosterone" Sory but this is wrong, clearly wrong.
If testosterone had anything to do with symmetry of the face, then women would have very very assymetrical faces!
JackTheMoe 3 years ago
ah, but the reverse is true for women.
geoffart 3 years ago
o.O Now im confused.

I think most people dont have symetrical faces, it makes us all unique and beatiful. Verryyy symetrical faces look creepy!

nice attempt, but you didn't mirror the faces properly.

this video is totally unscientifical!
if you wanted to asses the beauty, symmetry of
celebrities you NEED to take full-frontal portits.
All of the pictures you used were either half profile or
close to portrait. Of course no one is going to look symmetrical if the pictures you use are not 100% frontal!
vonroemer 3 years ago 14
omg dont you know that to look less symmetry you need to have full-frontal .
if you want to look more symmetry you need to take a photo like they did.
