People on the physical inside - fyi - are not symmetrical, organs are on different sides. It is interesting that people use many times the left or right hand, and the brain reportadly is geared towards different uses by side, but I think this may be a learned behavior, and people are naturally ambidextrous. Also, sometimes left right diffences may be reflected in the face

This video makes no sense and the poster is trying to make a point that's baseless. Of course nobody is perfectly symmetrical, if they were they'd look like aliens like they do on this video. God created a a little asymmetry with symmetry.

The message of the video at the end, although noble, is simply not true. If anything, this video reinforced the fact that "more" symmetrical faces are beautiful.

Great symmetry with a little asymmetry makes for a physically beautiful person. There's no such thing as perfect symmetry as this video has reinforced. It simply looks unatural.

I read an article where it said that only around 5 - 7% of all people are considered good looking. Unfair but unfortunately true.

only asymmetry that matters is random asymmetry; not directional (if left side is consistently bigger/smaller/higher..etc -- it doesn't count!).

However - is more complex still, because high symmetry in men correlates with testosterone, which correlates with cheating and beating, which make symmetrical (die-hard macho-man) faces seem less attractive to female, who prefure mix of babyface and macho-man features (for trust reasons).

The symmetry thing is about a geno-types ability to maintain a consistent pheno-type under environmental stress. But that, in the male case, has to be balanced against the negative aspects of that. Also testosterone reduced immunity, so there is the idea there is correlation to having better immunity genes with high testosterone, but its not the rule in every case. Females similar rule applies, but with oestrogen instead of testosterone.

celebrities you NEED to take full-frontal portits.

All of the pictures you used were either half profile or

close to portrait. Of course no one is going to look symmetrical if the pictures you use are not 100% frontal!

the only problem with this is that the theory about symmetrical beauty requires that the face is photographed dead straight. all of the photos that you used had people with their heads slightly tilted or facing slightly off centre, so because of the three-dimensionality of a face, of course it'll look strange when you mirror one side only. find a photo of a beautiful person with a neutral expression on their face, and facing the camera DEAD CENTRE, and then try again

Funny experiment. Beauty lies in proportions also and you distorted them when you added symmetry. I think in general beauty lies in proportions, symmetry, colours and so on. But a symmetric person with an ugly personality isnt beautiful and a unsymmetrical person with a great personality can be very beautiful. So i agree with you to some extent.
