We just got one...the only thing I think is funny is that people come up with non-unique names for them...rather than go with fox, or snow in japanese we went with "Link" as in the original Nintendo game Zelda which was created of course thru nintendo in Japan...

There is definately a trend towards giving Shibas Japanese names, my Mum called a dog 'Zelda', although she had never heard the game. We named our puppy 'Senbei', it took us ages to settle on that. Other ideas were; Azuki Koguma Okami Akuma Jubei Kabocha (runner-up) Mugicha (runner-up) Senbei's littermates are 'Akira', 'Hiro' and 'Kitsu'. His parents are 'Chibi' and 'Luppo' Aparently 'Chibi' and 'Shiro' are two of the most common pet names in Japan.
