Whenever I hear the term "rock 'n roll" or "rock music" (which I seldom hear anymore) this is the song and version that immediately jumps to mind as the quintessential rock 'n roll song. Can't beat John's fantastic vocals with the Beatles musicianship and George Martin accompanying on piano. Never before and sadly never again.

This is one of the few Beatles cover versions that were better than the original. This is in part of Lennons excellent vocal (*McCartney would have ruined it) and the fortunate fact that it does not contain on of Harrison's anemic guitar breaks. Rarely did the Beatles improve on the original. This is an exception.
