@haheso2007 No, in the third to last stanza the speaker asked the bird if Lenore was in Heaven. Raven said, "Nevermore." The speaker tried to make the raven leave, but it wouldn't. Then he implied that his soul was trapped in the raven's shadow upon his floor, and would be lifted nevermore.

its a poem about a lomly guy who is being depressed by his wifes death and a raven came in and it sat on a bust of a greek god poe asked the raven is my wife in heven or hell and the raven said never more

The raven is a metaphor for the narrator's descent into madness. He's been driven insane by sorrow after his wife's death. It starts off just by hearing things, then he sees the raven, and it says "never more", which he perceives as to be mocking him - that he will never more see his lost love, even if he was to die he would not join her in the afterlife. It's not supposed to be a literal narrative.

But it is beautiful.

And so wonderfully read in this version, too.

yes this poem is quite wonderous. i have to momorize it for a shcool project. It is intresting if you really think about the words and ponder the idea of this poem. it is questionable how a man can take the story of a raven being at his window and take it make it his own make it scary yet intresting make it memorable yet complicated. this is amazing.
