  • avast free best free antivirus program so far

  • I want your job.

  • there will be Avast! 7 beta released in a few days. Will u make a preview please?

  • "amateur dogsex movie 8" at 16:20 LMAO!!!!

  • like the reviews keep up the good work

  • Avast is the best free AV.Great Vids!

  • 28:00 fuskbugg.se. Swedish website haha!

  • detection rate of avast free is really bad, only web shield feature is good in avast but now avira free is also providing web guard with far better detection rate so i'll never go with avast.

  • Wait... you're using Norton on your main PC!?

  • hi matt please re-test avast! as in this test al the URLs were blocked by the network shields url blocker...there was no activity by the web or file system shield....only test if u have time....no forcing by me...

  • Hi. I just wanted to say thanks for these excellent videos, I think its important for people to understand the importance of computer security, and some of these videos must be tricky to do, especially after your PC becomes infected. I've always had AVG, but have had a couple of problems with malware in the past, for which I have used malwarebytes to remove. I think when I buy my next PC, I will start using Avast as it sounds a lot more efficient.

  • @Bob3160

Didnt u see? Matt had uploaded that missed sample to virustotal and even there avast! didnt find it on VT...

  • It would have shown more accurate results if you had rebooted your system after installing avast!. Not all service and all the changes in the registry take effect until you reboot the system.

  • GoodOne....

  • Could u please send that missed file to avast? I don't wanna end up getting it lmao it looks like a nasty virus

  • @Musicizmyremedy Use common sense, trust me it work :P. During every day computing you probably won't stumble upon something like that, i mean common if you can't see it's a exe the moment it's on your desktop you need a pair of glasses (0_o).

  • I totally agree with SleppyLink. Actually I have a different idea... why not test 5 links with the default and if something gets by restore to a snapshot and retest with the same but with the antivirus on maximum configuration! On the other hand that takes too much time so I wouldn't be surprised if you rejected this idea.

  • Emsisoft Asquared free too is quite a good scanner!:)

  • Matt,

You should send that bad file to the Avast virus lab, because they would than be able to write a definition to stop that one Trojan that Avast didn't catch!

  • @JackPlatt virus total give out to them at the end of every week

  • Doesn't it slow up the install if you leave IE open like that or other programs? Thanks Matt.

  • Nice video Matt. I don't know why, but Avast has always had trouble detecting Facebook based malware. In many tests done by Matt and other AV testers, Avast almost always misses Koobface(facebook worm). In this vid, it missed ONLY the facebook based threat. Dang. Still love Avast though.

  • Ive been waiting for this, Great Vid

  • nice

  • Why oh why did Kaspersky change their interface.. To make it more user friendly thats why. I hate the new UI. It's ugly.

And kaspersky makes my computer slow even on 6 GB RAM 3.0 ghz

  • what do you use to emulate win 7 and do i need a iso or anything?

  • thank you , avast free excellent , good job

  • Thanks for posting this Matt.

  • Matt I need an answer to this... I want to make awesome virus testing videos like you and I have a windows xp vm in vmware workstation and I dont know what type of internet connection to use. Should I use NAT or something else so that if a network worm or bot net gets on the vm it wont infect my real pc. What should I do? What do you use?

    Thank you!!!

  • Windows 7 itself is a better antivirus then AVG

  • You should test eset smart security 5 when it comes out :)

  • Avast is da best! ;D

  • i like ur vids and make more!!

  • when you test kaspersky does it hog your cpu

    cos in my it does

  • @zik1zik For me, yes. I switched NIS and couldn't be happier with it's performance.

  • @mrizos i thought u like pctools then kav drivesentery then comodo?

    now norton?...

btw retest drivesentry please there back

  • @mrizos NIS is fantastic man, i couldn't be happier with it's performance as well. Are you going to do a review on the newest version of it?

  • @mrizos I figured something out with Kaspersky. If you turn off the idle scan it doesn't hog your CPU!. Nice, huh? also please review version 2012, it's much lighter (not on RAM, but in cpu) and it is much better at protecting your pc. Don't forget to turn riskware detection on if you test it out.

Thanks again for the great video Matt. Glad to see that you are making so much videos now. :)

  • @mrizos Could you try testing in user mode as well as administrator. Or does the password box just pop up I spose. Are any viruses able to get around the windows 7 UAC ? Thanks anyway great vids, I would like to know how the new Avira Antivir 2012 free goes ; )

The time to startup Avira free I find has always been quite long on boot. Is avast much better or would I get worse Anti virus protection as a consequence.

  • @QuiteNot

If you want the best free security, just go for Comodo Internet Security

  • @zik1zik

Kaspersky sucks now actually, Norton is way better especially in performance

  • facebookcrap tried to DL list with antivirus update domains/addresses (kaspersky, nod, etc.) most probably to write them in hosts file as localhost and BAM! some guy has new "zombie" for spam/ddos attacks

  • Thanks you for your effort Matt !

  • @ceHson Sure man

  • @mrizos

    avast! is awesome matt!

    I really like your videos:)

  • 1.) im really glad that you're making more videos!

2.) avast is awesome compared to that sucky avg

3.) why did you return to your snapshot and then starting using malwarebytes, gmer and tdsskiller?

  • @xXxSexyGoddessxXx 1). Thanks, I'm glad I'm making more videos too. 2). Agree 3) I did go back and loaded that same piece of malware that got through then I scanned with MBAM.

  • @mrizos Matt please could you do a video on Comodo internet security

  • @mrizos another suggestion is panda cloud

  • @xXxSexyGoddessxXx One time I had a chance to download AVG. I chose to catch bird flu instead.

  • @xXxSexyGoddessxXx Whats wrong with AVG??

  • @ImAKillZoneFan bad protection and has bad detection rate, when my pc got highly infected avg done nothing, i had to use malwarebytes to get rid of all the malware

  • @xXxSexyGoddessxXx well i did download AVG for free with a 48 year key so im not hard off just delete it and get a new one :) recommend one ?

  • @ImAKillZoneFan yeah, i do not recommend avg, if you want a free anti virus either get avast or avira, they're both really good with malwarebytes as a backup antivirus, if you want to get really good protection and is does not mind spending some money get the latest norton 360

  • @ImAKillZoneFan

    either avast pcav or cis

  • Nice!

avast! + Comodo firewall + Sandboxie = FTW!

  • Thankfully they updated the virus detection sound with just a voice instead of that siren noise, it always scared my mom away from using it because of that.

  • In my tests, Avast is one of the best.

  • Nod32 detected the one Avast! missed. Nod32 is the king of the hill regards to zero-days threats. I'm sooo looking forward to see how Nod32 version 5 will bring!! :D

  • why do you use internet explorer ? no hater just askin you seem like you know lots of stuff :).

  • @grand433 he doesn't need to use any other web Browser because he wants to simulate how good will a Anti-virus would work if is on a PC that is used by someone ho is not that expert in PC(old people is an example).

  • @grand433 He uses IE just to test these scanners because its the most vulnerable browser, also most people use IE.

  • @Queequel thanks, I usually say that on every video but some people must not be listening.

  • LOL it was that ransomware that AVG 2012 failed to block!!

    Great job Avast!

  • whats Dr Web like these days... still good??

  • you sound like Ray Romano

  • what site rating app are you using ? i am using WOT for firefox , its the best imo.

  • great review!

  • I thought that multiple AVs might miss something that they might not, run individually...not the case?

  • Loved it :D thanks Matt, and I would be interested in seeing those configuring vids lol

  • What would anyone recommend Avast 6 or Avira?

  • @razer0072073

    Avast in my opinion.

You can close the annoying ads on it too, just search on google "How to turn off the Ads on Avast."

@ Matt, sorry mate Google Chrome's ad block is terrible. :c

  • @razer0072073 I definitely recommend Avast, Avast + Comodo Firewall = Secure as fk computer.

  • I blocked that chicks voice on Avast settings lol :)

  • What are your thoughts on Tuluka? Its another rootkit detector, but gives a lot more information about the suspicious items it finds

  • its sunday not monday....

  • @1DANNYTHEDEMON1 It's Monday here.

  • @Zestypanda wheres here??

  • @1DANNYTHEDEMON1 Where do you think?

  • @Zestypanda idk y do u think im asking?? i live california so its sunday here

  • @1DANNYTHEDEMON1 Cali, it's obviously Monday here today. :P

  • Is it overkill if I have both Avast 6.0.1289 Internet Security and Malwarebytes Pro?

  • @Musicizmyremedy XD I've had to up to like 6 av's before.

  • @Musicizmyremedy no, that's what you SHOULD do. Always have a live AV like Avast, and a backup program like Malwarebytes or Spybot to help clean up non-virus malware.

I use Avast+Comodo Firewall+Spybot+Advanced SystemCare Pro 4+CCleaner. This way I have Anti-Virus to stop incoming bad connections and bad programs, Firewall to block programs I don't want connecting to the internet, SystemCare Pro 4 for daily clutter cleanup, and CCleaner for the weekly clean up since it's all it needs.

  • You make the lengthiest reviews on youtube. *Liked

  • Just to get this out of the way, I cannot speak for the others who watch these videos, but it is NOT a fetish to watch antivirus reviews, there I got it out of the way. I just like to study viruses and antivirus software, totally not a fetish, besides, languy99 has a much sexier voice... XD

  • @Zestypanda lol languy has a sexier voice haha

  • @hahacify What? Fine, I will to a comparison video. -_- :P

  • Dude, you need to start it in full screen, not windowed, please, it's really bugging me!

  • @Zestypanda Get over it?

  • @TheBullmose No, I wont. :crybaby:

  • I I use it on my computer. I dislike their bird poo looking Icon on the desktop though

  • most all of these were blocked by the network shield. Is that Avast!'s version of web guard?

  • @spededpat no, the network shield is not that toolbar (webrep) its actually a normal shield within avast so having said that avast did fantastic :D..

webrep is doesnt block anything, only advises you before you visit the website :)

  • I would love to see the configuration of the anti-viruses!

  • @SleepyLink Cool, thanks.

  • I MISSED U U U U U U U U U UU U UU U U UU

  • great video!!!

  • Could you test a virtual machine with the setup that you have protecting your host pc?

  • @siriusgamer Sure, that's a great idea actually.

  • Great vid, enjoyed the malware hunt at the end. Thanx Matt.

I would be keen to see bumped up AV programs getting tested.

  • lol the way avast asks for registration info, etc. makes it look more like a fake anivirus than anything...

  • I prefer seeing tests with default settings.

  • Common Sense 2011

  • 31:26 - 31:40 Yes Matt I would like to see that, I have been meaning to do some myself. Great review :)

  • Thanks Matt, you make computer safety educational yet fun. Although I haven't been watching your videos all that much recently, but we appreciate it none-the-less.

  • "And avast says uh uh" Lol you are awesome :)

  • Nice review. I think they "stole" the link scanning idea from Norton and/or McAfee.

  • @MadSupra354 I think you're right. McAfee had a program called site adviors. The only McAfee program I allowed to touch my PC.

  • @kenmha That's the same with me x)

  • Yay! Another lengthy test. :D

  • Yay! Another lengthy test. I am most happy. :D
