NO ONE from the Black Community can ever denounce Min Louis Farrakhan. He has positively influenced Black people. In 1995, he orchestrated The Famous 'Million Man March' to DC & in 97' Winnie Mandela called 2 Million Black Women to PA. After attending-the Million Women's March-I was never the same. I felt empowered, inspired & strenghtened! He is NOT a Murderer-he is a Leader! Hip Hop & The Nation of Islam are two very powerful cultures that elevate and cultivate the Black community!
Can you truly reject words or ideas, because once you have given thought to them, you can only disagree with them. You can only reject an idea or opinion that you've never heard.
I can't really believe that Obama doesn't know the difference between the words denounce and reject. Every politician has, at some point, had to distance themselves from someone they don't personally reject because public opinion, at the time, would not tolerate public association. After all, in politics, it's not about impropriety, but the appearance of it. So, I find Obama's professed ignorance of the nuance, and his smooth attempt to fuse the terms... disconcerting.
Denunciation is a public act, and given the history of association with religious and political authoritarianism.. the word has negative connotations, and can imply insincerity.
You can denounce someone without actually rejecting what they say. Hillary was implying that Obama doesn't reject Farrakhan, even if he denounces him publicly-- in much the same way that both candidates "denounced" NAFTA without rejecting its importance and value.
Rejecting by contrast, is personal, and more sincere.
Obama used the right term, which is 'denounce'. As corroborated by the news pundits, denounce is the appropriate term when speaking in public. 'Regect' would be a term to use with respect to a person to person reference. Hilary is desperate and being petty, plain and simple.
Who cares if it is denounce or reject.
It's a political banter and will be totally forgotten after the election.
Who remembers what Bush said before his election.

Finally, a clear distinction, although I'm still searching for an understanding of the meaning of "is".
