  • GREAT ! What an airline ! The Best - I know what I'm talking about, I've flown with them.

  • Save money AND weight: charge people by the pound, or just don't let fat folks fly. That's the ticket...

  • Saving weight saves fuel thereby saving the company money. And that's the goal.

  • Flight from CMH to MCO on Southwest in in 5 days! I love this company!

  • Green Plane? Green day. 1 month ago the lead singer and lead guitarist in GREEN DAY Billie Joe Armstrong got kicked off a southwest airlines plane cause his pants were shagging low, kind of funny coincidence Green plane, Green Day, southwest airlines, billie joe. Atleast i thought so :)

  • The Green Plane! Made out of 100% Recycled materials! And after the plane broke apart in air killing hundres, we now present the traditional american made materials again!

  • @dennyfrontier

Where does it say "recycled", its not Southwest Airline that make the planes, its Boeing.

Its quite odvious that the "green" part here is the savings in fuel economy. Not that the wings and fusilage are made from recycled coffee cups.

  • @rorrt It was a joke.

  • @dennyfrontier

    So was I?

  • What did you do to get the time-lapse?

  • @youngkiszk35 Im guessing they set up a camera with an intervalometer

  • hey, this music reminded me of the game transport tycoon :)

  • damn that's a lot of waste for dumping so much seats and carpets

  • hey have they don this to evry soth west plane or no cause that good if they did

  • @DCFilmsStudio No we haven't. Things are cooling, not warming. Did you miss "memo-gate"?

  • the plane i was in on holiday the seats where 2-4-2 :D so mine was a big one!

  • I'm I the only one that noticed that they put the same stuff back into the plan they had just took out

  • @08bhynson08

Nope.. they didn't put the "same stuff" back in... of course it looks the same because duh.. we want all our planes to look the same.. but I've been in this particular plane as well as our not "green" planes and trust me.. there IS a difference.. We wouldn't change the colors or design just because it's ecofriendly

  • SWA claim to be doing their bit by reducing the weight of the aircraft (slightly) - yet encourage passengers to carry as much luggage as they wish by having a "Bags Go Free" policy.

Am I alone in thinking that sounds contradictory?

  • @janaltus Lol!! It's only 2 bags that fly free on SWA--anything more would have an excess baggage fee charged. Also, the two bags allowed are subject to a weight limit or you will be charged an overweight fee (you can't check two bags weighing 200 lbs a peice for free, e.g.).

  • To learn more about the carpet tiles they are putting in the plane look up Interfaceflor.Inc

Look how that company is setting the standard for industy.

YES every small step leads to a cleaner future. Forget all the global warming topics and just think is it the right thing to do for the future generaton? Any where we can reduce pollution is always a step in the right direction.

  • If you (SWA) want to reduce weight in order to save fuel and reduce costs, from a business sense, that's great! But to call it "green" and being "environmental stewards"---what a bunch of crap. Mand-made global warming is a hoax! At SFO they now have an ATM-type of machine where you can purchase "carbon credits" to offset your "carbon footprint" of your flight. WHAT A SCAM! i love SWA, but come on, knock off this green nonsense.

  • Yeah I agree 100% and even if global warming IS true, the maybe Al Gore shouldn't fly around in his Gulfstream 2..hes the one who needs a "green plane"

  • @smitty195 but there's absolutley nothing wrong with saving a little fuel, and being kinder to mother earth :D

  • an electric plane would be so much safer.

  • @wuhlei electric airplane? flying from new york to los angeles non stop with 200 people or so in an electric plane would be a joke lol, plus flying "not" electric is still safe, safer than driving

  • @airlinesss people used to make the same comment about rc planes.

  • @wuhlei well as amazing as technology has improved i guess anythings possible lol, but i just cant see a commercial plane flying thousands of miles on electricity, and still being able to pull out 480knots or so just my opinion; maybe theyll come out with a hybrid lol

  • lame why not make a different kind of plane

  • @wuhlei Southwest doesn't make the plane--their whole fleet is made by Boeing. SWA has to make do with what they have. Also, their newest planes are 737-700's which are way more efficient than their oldest models, currently the 737-300. The modifications in this video just enhance the 700's that much more.

  • i love you southwest. i really do. but something about a time-lapse shot of people stripping the inside of a plane at high speed set to jazz music... makes me feel kind of.... unsafe? lol.... we'll keep up the good work anyway.

  • when is it in service????

  • It's so cool. Thinking about the "little" things can make a very big difference.

  • Here is quote, "What makes this so innovative is that we hope to be able to reduce the weight of

the aircraft by up to five pounds per seat, saving fuel and reducing emissions while being good environmental stewards."

  • so how long does a strip of the interior like that take? and crazy to think almost all those parts have to get faa approval for use in an aircraft. that's a lot of stuff to keep track of.

  • I dont understand it..
