setting something on fire is just a publicity stunt, you dont have to be a martial artist to break bricks, its not really a showcase of his martial abilities, concrete is easy to break because its brittle.

Further, lighting it on fire actually weakens it. The human body is mostly water(about 70% give or take). That means the surface area of the impact is spread out from the breaks and the breaks absorb most of it as the after shock flows through him. With concrete the force goes through so you only need to follow through a few of them. Alot of boards, since they bend, actually need you to continue through. The spaces are there to make it so that the individual performing the break has to strike through every brick versus hitting maybe one or two and causing a domino effect. this also holds true for breaking through wood. if you have ever tried to just break a board, there is a bending effect with wood, creating a certain degree of difficulty.
