The Walt Disney Company is the largest media and entertainment conglomerate in the world in terms of revenue
Walt Disney Company expanded its existing operations and also started divisions focused upon theatre, radio, publishing, and online media. In addition, it has created new divisions of the company in order to market more mature content than it typically associates with its flagship family-oriented brands.
This film is NOT from 1955. It's really great footage chopped up to pander to the millisecond attention span of tweens. Post the original, full items, and you'll have the 1955 film.
why did they use footage of a Nazi V2 rocket, the so called 'vengeance weapon' intended to be fired on London, at exactly 1:00 in the video as the voice over says "man will bet his life on the unknown dangers of space travel"
I remember this cartoon from school back in the mid sixties. Is it available anywhere? I cant remember the title, but it would be interesting to see it again.
Brings back memories. I think it is quite well done. By the way, the narration sounds like the voice of the Robot from the Lost in Space TV series. I think his name was Richard Tufeld.
People tend to focus on the counterculture of the 1960's, but what has really changed is the mainstream culture. In those days there was a tremendous optimism despite the threat of nuclear war. In a sense most Americans were much less practical than they are today. They dreamt about bright futures and saw scientific progress as breaking down old parochialisms. Walt Disney was unquestionably one of the leading proponents of this world view.
@Cooltomorrowkid He might be impressed generally, but I'm sure he'd be disappointed with how little space science has progressed since his time. No manned missions have left Earth's orbit since 1975.

A good rule for rocket experimenters to follow is this: always assume that it will explode.
