If the law had passed it would have affected any abortions done through official channels. The concern isn't over their parents being mad. It really isn't about them being abused either, though I guess that's a concern as well, but a lesser one.

The girls are going to get the abortion if they're set on it regardless. If they're concerned about retribution from their parents, they are more likely to pursue unofficial channels for the abortion which could put them at a much greater health risk.

Actually, liberals and conservatives, Democrats and Republicans alike agree that this is a bad proposition. Quote-unquote "Sarah's Law" is getting a lot of misled hype in this election but we can tell from past elections that an overwhelming majority of Americans believe this kind of law to be dangerous.

And voting "yes" just because another group of people is voting "no" is an abject waste of your rights as a citizen that millions of people have died for. Read the prop maybe?

Some conservatives say that this is a bad proposition because it will change the california constitution to work against parents and let teens rebel. It says no matter who the teen says is "family" they can claim them when making a decision.

Maybe some might like to hear the facts instead of fear. In 2003 there were 848,163 abortions of which 85 women died. There were 4,091,063 births of which 495 women died, the same rate as women who died in abortions. The highest group at risk of maternal mortality is black woman over the age of thirty. Given this information I hardly see the need for laws that give underage kids the right to not inform their legal guardians of their situation.
