Me and my friend did this for a science research project, but we used hobby motor with a lego propellor attatched to the shaft and pushed it through a cap of a round 2 litre bottle. We then connected the motor to 2 batteries which made the propellor turn and creating a blue tornado (food colouring) with debris in it (Bean-bag filling).

i had the yellow but inbetween the bottles from a mag that i used to collect when i was younger, it was from the horrible science mags. cant remember what number.

You can see the colouring around the bottle, that's why they shake it up at the start....
