Blessed be the Name above all other names, JESUS! Thank you so much for posting this. You did a splendid job of connecting the song with the video. God Bless you, and MERRY CHRISTMAS! +++ Jesus is the Messiah, the Light of the world! Hallelujah! Yeshua is LORD! Shalom! +++
How beautiful!! Although I have enjoyed Michael Card for many years, this is the first time I have heard this song. Your beautiful pairing of images with the lyrics brought tears to my eyes. A powerful song accompanying a powerful video. Thank you for that!
@muTedskycowgirl It was from the 1977 Jesus of Nazareth, but I edited the video clips themselves, so the sequence doesn't appear in the movie in the order in the video, as well as a few modifications and graphic edits - but pretty minor changes
A nearly 30 year old song, back from First Light I believe, possibly Legacy. The fun thing is that it's just been redone and retitled as Simeon's Song on Luke A World Turned Upside Down - check out the new version too!
The account of Simeon's encounter with Jesus Christ is a visible example of Salvation in the Old Testament. Their salvation was in Jesus Christ, the Messiah. They simply looked forward to His coming, while we look back at it. Merry Christmas!
Hi there maximumgravity. Any chance you would have this video in a higher resolution format? My pastor is preaching on the christmas character of Simeon and would like to use this video.
From what I understand of those days, when a Jew was filled with joy, especially when it was from the Lord our God, they would sing. Even though the Bible doesn't mention Simeon singing, there is a very good chance that he did anyway. The Bible focused on what Simeon said and how the Lord kept His word to Simeon, but I have no problem about the song saying he began to sing, it's almost a sure thing that he did sing. Beautiful song, I love it.
yada, maybe you should keep studying... The Catholic Church is a human organization inspired and guided by the Holy Spirit. There is sin, scandal, and "brutality" in every human organization but you choose to "see" what you want. Apostolic Succession = Catholic Church
3. The Eucharist, and thus transubstantiation is completely Biblical. In fact, ALL of Scripture points to it.
4. forbid people to marry? show me proof of that since, please. Don't just throw out random accusations without proof. Back it up. Learn what Catholicism ACTUALLY believe, then come and let's discuss the facts.
the fact that you deny this is proof of your knowledge of scripture. Yes, Jesus died once, but only those who trust in him as messiah, will see the kingdom of God.
i was baptized catholic but am not now. reason being i grew up and study history and came to know all the horrible things the church did for hundreds of years. theres no way i could ever be part of something with such a brutal past!
VERY NICELY DONE! Love the clips from "Jesus of Nazareth." Christian, Jew, Muslim, atheist, or whatever, you owe it to yourself and the possibility that there is a God and a Messiah to watch that outstanding film. Unparalleled for biblical accuracy.
catholics also pray to statues, and ask God to remove the dead souls from a place that doesnt exist (pergatory) Also catholics believe in transubstantiation...which contradicts the teaching of scripture, forbid people to marry (a doctrine of demons according to scripture) The Lord would say to genuine believers caught up in the catholic 'faith' come out of her my people!
Thank you so much for posting! As a Christian this song made me cry. Especially, when he stretched "Israel" out for several seconds. I am really glad Jesus died on the cross so we can sing praises and write songs like this one. We are to give our all and our best talents to God and Michael Card has done that!
This has always been one of my favorite Michael Card tunes, and now seeing this video with it brings it to life even more. Thank you for posting this.
this song made me cry in the library at school, this is one of my fav all time songs, i have been going through so much latley thank you for the inspartaion (spelling)
" Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace : according to thy word. For mine eyes have seen : thy salvation, Which thou hast prepared : before the face of all people; To be a light to lighten the Gentiles : and to be the glory of thy people Israel. "
All praise to God our Father, Savior Jesus Christ, and blessed Holy Spirit! Amen. God bless you and all of us ... repent sincerely, pray diligently and earnestly, and "go and sin no more" (John 8:1-11) . 8^)>
I love the line light of the gentiles and the glory of his people Isreal. Christ didn't only come for the choosen people, he came for me, a gentile. Amen.
Not the baby god, God manifest in human flesh. Christ wasn't just another god. Christ is God. He was the promised savior of mankind from the time of the first sin. For the penalty of mans sin to be paid man must and will die. For Christ to be a human like you or I so that he could pay the penalty for us (because God loves us) He had to be born and had to grow like us. Any other method of delivering himself to the earth would not suffice because then he would not truly be human like us.
Of course this song was made with a messianic theme, It is steight from the bible, Yet this is good because It shows how Jesus even as a baby fullfiled prophicy. I like this song.
Yes this is true. Unfortunately, it is easy to overlook the simplicity of the truth as the Bible presents it when we continue to cloud our minds with traditions of men. Sometimes we have to remove the blinders to just see things as they are.
I don't think we can remove the blinders on our own ~~ I believe it is an act of God to the one who is willing to believe and accept the truth. We must have our eyes enlightened by God.
Pat I can tell by your username that there is much deeper truth in what you say than what appears on the surface - and yes - I do agree with your comments. However, as is the common theme all through the Bible - we must be WILLING to be the watchers we are called to be. Thanks for the comments.
Thank you for posting these comments - it reassures me when other people see things as I do. I would recommend "Lamb" - not the new group, but do some searches for "Lamb Messianic" or "Joel Chernoff". Their older stuff is a bit "old school" and sort of stuck in the 70's, but some of their new stuff is great, and most of it is timeless. I hope to have a video of one their songs coming soon. It is hard to do justice to the song with video, so taking my time with it - "Comfort Ye My People".
That old man in the temple Waiting in the court Waiting for the answer to a promise And all at once he sees them In the morning sunshine A couple come and carry in a baby Now that I've held Him in my arms My life can now come to an end Let Your servant now depart in peace Cause I've seen Your salvation He's the Light of the Gentiles And the glory of His people Israel
The Bible never tells us how Simeon knew Jesus was the Christ. He was waiting for the promise, and God fulfilled the promise. This is the blessing of this story.
This song is based on Luke 2:22-35. The truth in this passage of Scripture is priceless. When Simeon said, "Lord, now you are letting your servant depart in peace according to your word", he was referring to is the revelation he received from the Holy Spirit. Revelation which enabled him to wait in faith. This goes to show faith does not only come from receiving the revelation contained in the Bible and but by all that proceeds from His mouth.
Wonderful and true story...not a fable at all~~~
