Man, I totally forgot how GREAT this song is by KISS. Haven't heard it in over 30 years!!! But I remember being in High School in my freshman year in New York and rockin' out to KISS!!!!
@ROMEORAUNCH All I know is that there was a vid on here and Bob Kulick first played on some of the solos on Dressed To Kill which was released before Rock and Roll Over. If you really know Ace's style you can tell that his pick attack is completely different than Bob's. Based on that I maintain that it's Bob Kulick who played the solo on Makin' Love. Now. Kindly fuck off yourself....
@ROMEORAUNCH Aceofhearts might be right. I heard some the guitar on this album had a guitarist fill in for Ace. Back in the days Ace wasn't very reliable do to his exsesive partying
Whenever some kid wants to learn a bitchin' song by ear I suggest this. Not to hard. Not to easy. When you get it down, you feel like you actually learned something. My favorite kiss song. :)
@RockerFilms94 So true! This is one of the best songs that Paul Stanley ever sang. He sounds so damn good and amazing. And That guitar solo by Ace Frehley, just unbelievable. This song definitely belongs in the top ten songs by KISS of all-time list. Everytime I listen to the Rock and Roll Over album I play this track numerous times.
10 Greatest KISS Songs. KISS: 1. Makin' Love 2. Deuce 3. Cold Gin 4. God Of Thunder 5. Mr. Speed 6. Larger Than Life 7. 100,000 Years 8. Hotter Than Hell 9. Firehouse 10. Sure Know Something
Incredible video, a great collection of scenes and videos with one of the great sounds of KISS... And the most incredible in this video beyond the scenes of the Rock And Roll Over Tour, are the scenes of the blood collecting for the red ink used in the first comic book of the partnership between Marvel and KISS, all of this in 77's, with the "boom" of KISS in USA and in the world in the 3 top albums in less than a year, 76-Destroyer, 77-Rock and Roll Over and 77-Love Gun... KISS Forever!!!
@MixxMasterKid nah, im no expert on the technical side of music but i am an expert on experiencing music ;) and in my opinion Led Zeppelin Hasnt made music with this kind of music. Its awesome but not as 'feel good' as kiss makes you feel. In short : Led Zeppelin is the other form of awesomeness.
@metallicind No I promise you it does listen to Communication Breakdown and Whole Lotta Love then this you'll hear, this sounds so Zeppelin its unbelievable Listen to the riffs!
@MixxMasterKid Yes, this song is very influenced by Zep-but more so the Yardbrids, I think. Aerosmith also used Yardbirds as a template for similar tyoes of songs (Toys In The Attic, Rats In The Cellar etc.). Great stuff!
i listened to kiss in the 70's. i recently picked up guitar again after years. learning these old kiss tunes makes me appreciate ace TEN times more! he ALWAYS laid down KILLER grooves!!! LOVE YA ACE!!!!
God, Gene Simmons is so unbelievably vulgar. I thought Hotter Than Hell was a nasty album cover, but it's a "toss up" (literally) between it and Rock & Roll Over.
This is good. All KISS is good except for SB(Maybe it has to grow on you). SC had Into The Void (Not bad for ACE) Creatures had Saint and Sinner plus Danger(By the way it was written for a James Bond film that never got made). Lick it Up had Exciter. The Elder had The Oath plus Dark Light. Unmasked had Torpedo Girl Talk To Me and Two sides of the Coin. Great stuff now matter how you listen to them.
If you wanna learn guitar by ear Ace has got the BEST stuff to learn by. It's just right. Not to hard. Not to simple. Tasty and just challenging enough, best guitar teacher in the world when your first starting out by ear IMHO! Very underrated player.
SO TRUE - Im a girl lead guitar player, started off three years ago when I was 13 and Ace was the best teacher in the world - Ive always hated tabs and learnt everything by ear with "Alive!" on my CD player.. I will never forget how happy I was when I learnt 100.000 Years solo.. THATs how to learn lead guitar!!
Cool! more young ladies should play in my opinion, and Ace is top shelf learning material. I go back and jam over Kiss stuff all the time, particularly if I get in a rut, it always seems to pull me out of it. Keep jammin' sweetie and don't let nobody say it's not a "chick" thing either.Peace!
yeah, and i love how you hear a bit of the influence jimmy pahe had on him, the solo sounds very pageusque, and achieving a sound that remembers of jimmy page needs a really fucking great guitar player.
Yeah, now that you mentioned it...yes,defo 'Toys,toys...in the Attic...' I can hear it,but which came out first? 'Toys' or 'Rock and Roll' over?? LOL Cheers!
