You can find this performance on "The Old Grey Whistle Test - Volume 3", which is worth buying for this one alone, although it contains a number of other notable toe-tappers as well, including "BB King - When It All Comes Down".
If everyone who show their talent and a moment of greatitude in arts are high, then pastors and priests that jump screaming for money and screw altar boys must be high as well.
@magirecords2004 that aint delta blues man..there is a reason freddie king was called the "TEXAS" cannonball because he was from texas and played texas style blues......but ur rite delta blues is earthy and organic as where freddie was rugged and skinny like his guitar was missin something
A brilliant video! As someone who was doing studio TV in the 60s and 70s, THIS is the production we wanted to make: simple but classic, classy but not flashy.
A True King of the blues- Live and Cookin with the best band..We dont know how lucky we are to be able to view these legends of the Blues.Gid anyone get some of Freddies and the bands DNA
No matter what -- any Blues Band Deacon Jones (Keyboards) Played with Automatically got a 100% Better -- even the great great Freddie King's Blues Band -- dynamite post...
Back in the Seventies I went to Madison Square Garden and saw Grand Funk Railroad and this guy, Freddie King, opened up for them. He played this song and I've been trying to figure out the name for ever since. Thank you for posting and ending 30 some odd years of frustration.......
never hearda freddie til about 2 months ago.AMAZING skills.watch @1:57 his left hand flies so fast up the neck to the end SO FAST YOU CAN'T SEE IT! SERIOUSLY! watched a dozen times, never saw his hand actually move.
watched every vid on utube. no one mentions his style evolving from blues to-boogie-funk-some heavymetal rock AND some acid rock/jimi henrix riffs.all overtheplace, expanding his horizons til he died from ulcers!! which they cure with antibiotics.NO ONE gets ulcers now. so sad.

I saw this clip on a high school rock guitar series on the blues scale. This is one of the greatest songs ever performed not only because of the masterful blues licks but the keyboard player is brilliant.Check out Freddy's collars! and the fashions.Unreal.I found this and have played it about four times through. I dare you to sit and NOT tap your feet. What a brilliant piece of history. It says it all.
@bastis86M nah. very involved contrapuntal arrangement, very slick, right on time.. too serious an effort.. with no time to be just the slightest bit off or late.. & he's not. really solid effort. not the kind of song or playing where you can be high, & miss your cues, foul up the song. . & still sound as good as this does. this is about as tight as it gets. a work of art.
@bastis86 He was indeed! I talked to a guy who knew him personally and he said he was so high at every gig that he always wore sunglasses to hide the red eyes
Yeah, Freddie King Was The Man When It Comes To Playing The Blues!! Thanks So Much, Stella For Sharing It With Us!! Stay Blessed & Blues On, My Very Dear & Wonderful Friend!!
- Much Love, Hugs, Blessings & Respect, - Big Will :)
