    a 98 accord coupe 4 cyl, a 03 civic bought brand new, and have an 03 accord 4 cyl

    now.. Ive driven my first 2 honda's across Canada and back both during the winter.

    Even had a Honda 4 wheeler, Foreman 400.. And ive yet to need to replace a

    single part on any of my Honda's so far.. Id say that's a good track record.

    That's why i love Honda.

  • well when your auto shifts to second from 6200, the RPMs drop lower than a manual 1-2shift@the same RPM. The auto has a wider 1-2ratio spread and revs out 1st longer to compensate because the torque peaks at *4300* after which it levels out and begins to decline.

  • but horsepower peaks above 6K, hence meaning he should wind it out. It would be much quicker if he shifted above 6K.

  • why didn't you shift at redline? you shifted about 1000 rpms before. should be about 7.9 sec 0-60. but hope you like your v6 now!

  • just synthetic oil and ram intake, sold the car like year and a half ago and got a v6 instead look at the other videos, would highly recommend doing the same.

  • im so sick of people saying that, learn your engine first and then tell me how to drive, its a k24a4 with economy i-vtec that kicks in at 3200rpm and at the top end just slows down instead of picking up again...damn this is the last time i explained this

  • i do know my engine dude and its peak power is at 6000rpm (187bhp) so if your changing up before this you cant be hitting optimum acceleration.

  • @arbachu i believe that the k24a4 also has its peak HP/TQ in the 5k-5.5k range as does any of hondas I4 engines, Hseries Fseries or even Kseries motors USDM have 5k-6k power ranges. By short shifting you put yourself at a low hp tq in the next gear. I own the F22b1 96 accord, trust me should have held out the gears, yea the power drops but you have more power in the next gear rather than waiting for the low rpm lag

  • omfg that was mega fucking slow... especially the take-off... i dont know if im supposed to start counting from 1 second when thr RPMs go up or 3 second when the car actually starts moving (slowly but surely). if i start from the 3 second mark of the video that makes the car about a 9 second 0-60 LOL

  • The 4cyl Honda Accords do have great power for a 2.4L i-VTEC. It isnt as fast as a Honda S2000 or something like that but its a very peppy car and its very fun to drive i have a 2007 Accord EX myself =) nice shifting BTW

  • It's not short shifting because he's shifting at the peak power, if he went into higher rpm's the power gets lower.

    In other news, 1998camaross is right. One should shift past the power peak so that on the subsequent upshift the RPM fall right back into the meat of the powerband. This will, in most cases, result in superior acceleration. The shorter the gear spacing, of course, the less this becomes necessary.

  • k20 head swap (k20a4 hybrid) been done before couple times, good luck though, lots of money,time and nerves, and yea i bought an automatic, its going to be my fast everyday cruiser, specially in spring when s/c gets put it with a stall coverter 320hp at the wheels

  • acura guy u right, my car is restricted i-vtec without the secondaries, therefore vtec comes in at 3200rpm, if u hold it up to 6grand when u switch gears u endup in higher rpmage in the next gear which helps since it ends up in full vtec, no a dramatic difference but a lil faster

  • ya its a stick, but i noticed 5500 is more effective then 6k, it seems to start slowing down around 6k (choking, aftermarket exhaust would fix the problem)

    And I also like da color of yo speedo gauges cause there not that same boring colour like some cars have in they instrument planel leds or bulbs they have factory installed but ur's are cool!
