Dangit. I wish this video lasted like 5 seconds longer - just to see that stupid guy in the red car get passed up EASILY by that Mustang. He tried to pass twice and got left in the straights - did he honestly expect he wouldn't get passed back?
And I LOVE how this vid is about Porsches, yet everyone here is loving on the Mustang. Oh yeah!
Oh God please.....Please continue this video. I must of watched this video 30 times. I post it when ever I can. Who is the guy in the blue Mustang? The sound of the V-8 Ford at the end is amazine. Make a second video, I want to know more about that 65 stang.
@Cobra428SCJ This isn't really important, but that may be a '66 Mustang. There's no way to tell from the vid - except the gas cap, and to me (what I CAN see of it, anyways) looks like a '66 cap. So, if you're trying to find some info on it, dont rule out '66s.
i garantee that mustang doesnt weight less then 2900 pounds dry ! how do i know ? i have ben roadracing 65-66 mustang fastbacks since the 1970's ! hahahahahahaha bad ass ford ! hahahahahahahaha ! foreign junk !
2800lb Mustang on skinny bias-ply vintage tires and a mostly stock suspension against Porsche Caymen's that is 8" wider, has MUCH wider tires and 40 years of suspension development, and 4 wheel disk brakes. Mustang driver > Porsche drivers in this video.
Was it just me or did some of the driving look pretty sloppy? I'm not talking about the camera car, but more the cars ahead. I suppose it was just practice so there's some slack to be cut. Either way those cars are awesome and demand respect. But man, i really don't care much for Road Atlanta. Awesome video though.
For all you Porsche drivers that are too young to remember that the 1964 Mustang Coupe won the '64 Tour deFrance and the 1965 Shelby Mustang GT350R dominated SCCA for decades. 1965 Shelby was the official F.I.A. winner World Championship for Grand Turismo cars, SCCA A-Production Champion, USRRC MFG. Championship, and NHRA & AHRA record holders.
More research on this video: Porsche finished 3-4 in the GS class. The Cayman really shined in the twisty parts. And they were very close to the BMW V-8 and Mustang 302 V8 race leaders.
After many many hours of research on this video, I found out that the Porsches are involved in the Cayman Interseries Endurance series consisting of 2009-2010 full-race Porsche Cayman's. In the video the red and black Porsche Cayman S in sponsored by Advan and is driven by Lee Davis. He captured the inaugural Cayman Interseries Endurance Championship in his No. 333 2009 Cayman-S. The Cayman Interseries is the only auto racing championship featuring the 320-horsepower Porsche Cayman S.
Actually, he is not dumb. That model Mustang weighed about 2650- 2750 lbs not being gutted. so 2400 lbs sounds about right. My 1967 Mustang coupe weighed in at 2750lbs stock.
Do you know for sure the Mustang weighs 2400 lbs? Because, unless the Mustang has fiber fenders, hood, deck-lid, etc... I highly doubt it is much less than 3,000 lbs, particularly if it still has an iron-block V8 up front. So I'm not sure the power-to-weight argument fits here?!?! Just looks like (to me) it's a good driver in a good car with good power, having a blast!
@lildebbieracing dude ur dumb as fuck and dont know what ur talking about so if u think that a porsche is heavier that a mustang ur fuck stupid that mustang weights well over 3k
@fusebox000 Really? I guess I haven't driven both of those cars...The Cayman S is set up for just over 3200lbs, and that particular mustang has a 2100 lb minimun weight in it's classification..
Hell yeah!

That V8 is probably 5+ liters, and worked to death: The Cayman's are running a bone-stock 3.4 liter...

The mustang is a lot lighter... the Cayman S is almost 3,000 lbs... So the big V8 and 2400 lbs powers away in the streights....
