The idea that someone would not pray for fear of being seen as uncool strikes me as truly pathetic. As a non-believer, to me, praying is pointless. Nonetheless, it is important to be humble, we are only human. Peace.

Yes indeed. However, much like with all religions, Islamic scholars do have their disagreements. There are different sects of the religion as well. Most religions have more moderate followers, and more fundamentalist ones.
There are some people who don't tolerate these differences though. That's more what I was getting at in that example.

Totally with you on how "Denying" is cool. How skepticism/cynicism is the preferred norm --> the kind of put-down philosophy that confines people into groups. It's scary that hope and belief and faith are "uncool", that they are "cliche" and for "naive" or "weak" people. That's something we need to change. Hope, and kindness, and faith, should be the norm, not not the arrogant negation of denying/skepticism/cynicism, or whatever you want to call it.
