I'm a Canadian Shanghainese person! In my whole life (12 years), I have never heard a Shanghainese rap. It's also pretty nice to know that there are still people out there speaking Shanghainese!

Haha thanks, if you are interested in learning how to "shuffle" the dance I am doing, just search up "Melbourne Shuffle Tutorial" on youtube, it's not that hard to learn =). Is Shanghainese your native dialect or were you raised on a different dialect?

My mom is from HK and my dad and his family moved to HK from Shanghai during the 70's. My parents met when they were in the UK and I was born there. My dad's family relocated to California, while my mom's settled in London. When I was 10 I moved to California with my family. I was never taught Shanghainese, instead i'd only hear it when my grandparents were yelling at their kids or talking to friends on the phone. They're quite vulgar lol. "WEI?? Nong yang this Nong yang that lol.

Oh and when we went out to Chinatown and my grandma saw someone she knew across the street, she'd scream her lungs out at her. Not to mention she yells at everyone she sees. If she thinks a fish monger is ripping her off, she won't hesitate yelling at them in Cantonese. I heard from my cousins that a lot of Shanghainese people are like that from their trips to Shanghai. All my cousins have gone to Shanghai, im the only one that hasn't been there yet lol. One day..

Haha I use to go every summer stopped in '08. But yeah Shanghainese people have a reputation for being loud, boisterous, greedy, and generous too if you are friends with them LOL. Shanghainese Men are said to be henpecked like crazy but I'll tell you what I sure the hell ain't =)

My grandparents was in Shanghai during WWII. My grandpa's dad was a gangster or something and got killed by the Japanese invasion of Shanghai. Not sure about my grandma, but I know someone in her family died as a result of the Japanese. Asians are so hateful lol.

Well, there isn't a language called chinese.. Chinese is just a name for the dialects that the people of china speak. This song is composed of Shanghainese and Mandarin. Taiwanese is another dialect.
