  • Always interesting to look at your videos thanks so much for all the tricks you´re showing

  • I am glad that it is interesting!

  • hi, excellsfun. what if i want to make the condition a text string instead of a number in a cell. how would i make the formula? im lost...

  • I do not understand all the parameters to your question, but if you wanted to highlight a row when the word "rad' was in column A and your table was in the range A1:C10, this formula might work:

    =$A1="Rad"

  • hi, sorry. basically, like in your example above, if instead of the condition being the number (200) in that cell, the row would be colored based on the customer being Google. i tried following the "Rad" example you posted and it didnt work. thanks!

  • I do not know how to do what you are asking. This is the best site for asking Excel questions:

  • thanks

  • For the first time I felt the font was a bit small. lol. But as always the video was fabulous : -) .

  • Yes - this is an old video (one of the first I ever made) over 2.5 years ago.

    Small and blurry.

  • i'm not sure what i've missed...I tried thsi trick#7 and the columns which were highlighted were the colum B-E and not the A

  • I don'y know. I would try the whole thing over.

  • Dear ExcellsFun,

This is really cool trick! I just wonder if I only want to do conditional formatting for any cell in the table that is >= 200 based on your video, then what is the formula?

Thank you again for your sharing.

  • There is a built-in conditional formatting feature that will do it. But with a formula, if you had the range A1:D12 highlighted and A1 was the Active Cell (light colored cell), the formula would be:

    =A1>=200

  • thankz very many......

  • You are welcome!

  • This had me stumped for a while. Not anymore. Great tutorial.

  • I am glad that it was useful. Be sure to go to the excelisfun channel (Search YouTube for "excelisfun") and watch the video that automatically plays, which shows how to search for whatever video you may want (there are over 900 Excel how to videos).

  • Dear shiryu008,

In Excel 2007 (that is what you are using, right?), click on the Office Button, then click on the Excel Options button, then click on the Advanced tab on the left, then scroll down until you get to the Display group, then check the "Show formula bar".

  • Again bravo mike. about conditional formation ¿how can i Know the cells that are affected by the conditional formating in a excel sheet? and if y copy a cell with conditional formating to another cell,¿the cond formting is also copied?

    can't stop watching your videos!.

  • Dear shiryu008,

You can use Go To, Special, then Conditional Formatting to highlight all the cells with Conditional Formatting. Yes, when you copy a cell, the Conditional Formatting is copied.

  • okay....so i want to scan in an inventory of equipment. and when i scan a piece into another tab i want it to come out of the other database. how would i go about doing that???

  • I do not understand what you are asking.

  • i work in a warehouse and i pass out equipment to techs. i want to scan everything in the warehouse into a database, then when i scan a piece of equipment out to a tech i want it to take it out of the database and put it into another database labled as assigned to tech or something ike that. just so i can keep an updated inventory of all of my equipment.

  • I don't know how to do that.

I do not understand your question.

  • Hey Mike,

    Your videos are very helpful.

I am trying to do a few things in Excel which I cant seem to find the solutions for. 1. I use conditional formatting for colour coding different client types. I want this formatting to not only apply to one of the sheet (tab things along the bottom of the window) but to all/two or three of them. Is there a way of doing this? I'm sure you will have the answer!

  • Dear nzjoel00,

I do not understand what you are asking. Are you asking to apply color automatically to a sheet tab based on criteria is a cell (I am only guessing)?

When YouTubers ask questions, you have to describe your question clearly and list all the logical steps so that I can, perhaps, provide an answer. Also, it is best to send an e-mail with questions, instead of posting comment.

  • Dear nzjoel00,

Thank you for your e-mail. But I accidentally deleted your e-mail.But, I just made a video for you to try and answer your question. See this video:
