how do you find the Diametrical pitch? and is this the first thing you have to know? for example: If I wanted to make 30 teeth gear, ho would I know the DP?

If you know the number of teeth and the OD of the gear just use this formula:

Number of teeth +2 / OD = DP

I just wanted to be clear about the formula, thanks it helps a whole lot, your videos are very informative and hope to see more (if possible), these video's are a hell of a lot better then High school metal shop class, (it wasn't a vocational school but required, so as to flex our mathematical "prowess") I'll be sure to watch the gear hobbing videos also. Thanks.
