  • can you plug that same VGA adapter into the new mac pros? its looks as if theres a different port than the older ones

  • ARe there different VGA cables for different types of MAC's? I have one that I think it pitted for a pro, but I'm just a '08 black mac book... :)

  • vga? hdmi anyone.

  • Great video! Showed me exactly what I needed to know, which was exactly what I hadn't found on any other web page, including the official Netflix blog!

    Thanks!

  • im a nerd basher and you're next. t bone over and out. biznatch.

  • Would I have to buy a mouse and keyboard to operate the tv....or can I just use the mousepad and keyboard on my computer?

  • @upenngirl18 You can use the mouse and keyboard on your computer, all this does is sends the screen to the TV.

  • This is great thanks so much! After 2 local stores and no answers you saved my hide! But my question is the HD aspect. will this work on an HD TV?

  • I have a mac mini but i did this and i clicked a resoulution (cous the scree and the TV wasnt fitting)and it the tv just turned black...what do i do to get it back to normal?(when i cant see what i am doing)

  • Cool:]

  • thankyou I will follow your instructions for this connection

  • Thanks - well done.

  • Hey, does anybody know how to see what your watching on the tv on the mac?

  • I follow all your instruction but I'm still not getting any audio. Can you please help me out. Thank you.

  • to much stuff to buy!:(

  • can be bought at radio shack

  • tv !!!

  • Excellent video! Thanks! Yes.. your video is still very useful for anyone who has an old Mac (like me with this 2005 PowerPC Mac Mini) and an aging LCD flat screen TV and wants to keep them going with new uses. Yeah? Thanks, again.

  • does the vga display need to be mac or can it be something else?

  • what about an old non flat screen bid chunky tv?

  • i think u could also use an auxillary (AUX) cable for sound instead of that as long at the tv/stereo system has an aux output

  • dude just get an fn hdmi

  • boring voice

  • @RIPJIMMYTHEREVa7x1 stoner voice

  • @sheautiful thanks for the stereotype asshole

  • @xmaryjane420 ur welcome MARYJANE420. lol ur stupid.

  • Best Buy told me had me buy RCA one end for the headphone jack and the other white and red connecting to an Insignia HDTV. Still no sound. The picture is beautiful with the HDMI and adapter to macbook. If I buy the adapter for the mac then I need a new RCA cables with red and white cables on both ends. Right? Please help it's driving us crazy.

  • Thank you.

  • know where i could get a silver plater adapter? (better conducter)

  • That was the most complicated rig ever. All you need is a double sided headphone jack that plugs from mac to tv, and then an hdmi cord. I don't know why you have all those converter cables, keep it simple and better quality. Mac's have great images, so does a samsung LCD HDTV, so why comprise that with a standard VGA cable? I have no idea....

  • Nice job and to the point. The problem I had was the arrangement so it was off the screen but the back ground on the mac was there. In case any one out there gets frustrated looking for the working display. Thanks on the audio as well!

  • I feef very sorry because I bought MacBook Pro. instead of PC because I can't get HD audio 7.1 out from my Mac to my receiver.

  • Thanks for your the help !!!

  • fucking awesome! thanks so much x

  • u sound like ... ... tom delonge of blink182! when is their album coming out again???

  • Well done! Thanks. Next time (constructive) have someone else hold the cam. Peace!

  • you blow. I hope you were 12 when you created this.

  • Hey @jets103

I think your moms terrible. But seriously shut the fuck up. Why dont you go make a video with ur mom where she puts this massive dildo up your tiny ass. You would be in soo much pain that all you can do is scream and all words would make no sense

    Have a nice day

  • your voice is very annoying

    other than that god job

  • I tried using the HDMI cable to hook up with the mini DSP and i was able to get picture on my LG HDTV but even when i use the 35mm cable to RCA red and white, i still didn't get any sound. COuld you help?

  • Hi, one question, you just put the white sound cable behind the tv, what about the red one?

  • I was able to hook up my computer to an LG. Now I have a sony NX700 LED and can't get the tv to take it. I'm using an RGB with the mic jack I know I could do better but I don't feel like buying more cables when this works fine.

  • NOOOO WAAAYY BRO!

  • great video its help me a lot thanks thanks thanks sooooooo muuuuuuuucccchhhhhhaaaasssss

  • can you watch what's on tv on your mac...so you can record what's on tv onto your mac for example. i know there are other ways to record things on tv, but i want to know if there is a way to watch what's on tv, on your mac. so basically what you're doing, but the opposite.

  • I like this video, can you help me with all the cables name, because i dont know what's the name for all this cables, thank you for your video and appreciate for tell me how can i connect my mac to my t.v.

  • nice monotone voice duster! terrible video

  • awesome it helped a lot! thanks!

  • The weird thing about the gold plated stereo converter, is that the one I have has the red and white and the other end has the aux to plug into the jack insert part of my mac laptop. When I plugged it into my tv the audio doesn't work at all when I plugged it into the PC part on the back of the LCD tv. The Display is ok though. Do you think you could help me solve my problem?

  • Thnx this was really helpful.

  • whats with the stereo adapter? use an aux cable, most tvs have a pc audio input near the vga port just more money wated if you buy one of them

  • The way you pronounced monitor made me laugh xD

  • My Macbook is an A1181.. Idk if it has a mini adapter port or not.. I only see power,Ethernet, vga(adapter) then firewire i Think) then 2 usb ports. Then sounds.. So does that means my macbook DO NOT HAVE a mini display adapter port? Is That final conclusion? Please if anyone can answer feel free. I'm so lost when it comes to mac's..

  • Hey let me ask u where would I connect the mini display adapter? Same port or port next to it.. on the right?

  • Thanks for the help. I getting no sound though???

  • @MrMmukkar same problem with me, so you're not the only one here.

  • Thanks for the help.

  • Hi!! I bought all the cables to connect my Macbook on my RCA TV and Its still isn't working. I'm doing exactly this:

    1) plug in mini-dvi to vga

    2) connect vga to composite rca

My comp detected the new new VGA display, but the TV is just gray and fuzzy...

Do you have any idea about what's wrong w it?

    thanks :)

  • can u play xbox sound and your macbooks sound through the tv at the same time?

  • How clears the image on the tv?

  • what if it doesnt detect your tv?

  • u have the exact same tv as me

  • why vga?????????? hdmi better

  • @rodatv this macbook doesn't have an hdmi plug!!!!!

  • @buhreezay90 there is a minidisplay port to hdmi adapter

  • @buhreezay90 it has a mini out or whatever right????? get one that converts to hdmi, mine is by the company 'moshi'

  • @rodatv cause HDMI cost more you ass

  • @rodatv some people dont have hd tv

  • really good for your first video. Nice!

  • Thanks man ! I will try.

Great video, I sub bro :)

  • do they have wireless for this set up ? Also ca you watch tv and be online (like split the screen ) ?

    Thanks

  • fuck ya foddie

  • @kfactor99 thanks kid

  • @f0deraro he sucks his moms bum hole

  • @f0deraro i was able to do this all i did was put a bowl of mac on top of my tv and omfg! it became white it grew a apple logo for a turn on tv button there was a red, orange, yellow bar for the sound level, and there was a itunes menu for if i wanted to watch shows over a show or replace shows audio with music lol

  • @f0deraro wher did you buy these cables from?

  • @kfactor99 get a life, i bet you cant hold a camera for shit!

  • if you don't already have an RCA cable, you can buy one cable that is 1/8" to RCA, so you only need to buy one item to hook up the sound, opposed to buying the RCA cable AND the adaptor. but of course, either way works...

  • Is this a Macbook A1181 model by chance? Trying to set mine up to allow this format to my HDTV.

  • if i do this can i watch dvds through my computer and view on the tv?

  • you sound like you're 14, thanks for the vid!

  • amazing vid, you sound HOT ! call me...

  • cool vid, thx

  • Is there any way to do this wirelessly?

  • @THEORYZ1 i dts!

  • Comment removed

  • Good job, thank you!

  • I need help. I can get sound but no picture :(

  • Fucking spectacular job for your first video, very informative and well done. I would suggest though to record yourself in a smaller room and with a microphone. The feedback from you talking is kinda annoying, but other than that muy bueno.

  • thx

  • Would this work if I took a VGA to composite converter since i dont have an HD TV or RGA connector

  • I so much love your video!

I think you are very entertaining and helpful.

  • Thank u :)

  • Hi, whats up. If you would like to see a different video on how to connect a mac to a TV, it might help you. Thanks.

  • is there a way to do this process in a wireless way?

  • thanks for the video man, halo and blink rock.

  • pretty cool.......

  • Nice 1 thanks for the vid

  • awsome blink 182

  • ooooohhhhkk.

    cool video:)

    i totally got it!

    thnk you !!

  • I got it all figured out, but I wonder if there is a way to split what's on my screen; example: put a movie on my tv and continue to work on my laptop... anyone?

  • Tanks for a great video

  • Thank you. Your demonstration was of great help

  • when i connect my Ti PowerBook G4 to my tv using just VGA both the tv and the laptops screen display the desktop but looks like its glitching up. everything still works but its hard to see anything. Help pease!

  • Thanks!

  • Thank you this is exactly what I needed to see. :)

  • I do not have a PC section on the back of my tv so which section should I plug the white and red cables into in order to get sound on the tv and not the laptop?

  • @22Knatta you should plug the white and red into whatever section you plugged the video into

  • When i plug my cords into my tv it doesnt auto recognize it. what should i do??

    please message me!!

  • Thank you so much ^_^ This VDO really helps.

  • same TV

  • anyone know how's the quality with this method?

  • i have a question, when i connect it to my tv it only works with the lowest resolution?

and then everything is really big and annoying!!! xD

is it because its an old tv?

  • is there a way i can connect my mac to an older tv?

  • @SheridanJudith Get a VGA To A RCA

  • tell me how to connect my TV to my mac without buying software

  • thanks for that, i really wanted to know how to do that long time ago xD

    thanks again!

  • Thank you so much. HDMI is probably better but there is more VGA plugs around. And now i know what to get for sound.

  • THANK YOU! Got it working!!

  • VGA?!! USE A DVI TO HDMI NOT VGA

  • I think is better to use a HDMI cable

  • this video helped a lot but the mac store sold me belkin stereo cables for sound and i cant get the sound to work.

  • thanks your a star, saved me heaps of stress.

  • TOSHIBA TV! I WhaTCH ALL IN MY FREAKY TV without a MAC TV

  • @vacaroja75 ???toshiba??? that's a samsung hdtv... get your facts strait

  • hey is there any way this can work with an s-video cable? with a mac?

  • love blink 182

  • You took this video almost word for word from me. SHIT

  • ya no the audio jack for the ipod, well smarts you put that on the back of your tv

and get both speakers instead of one

did you ever think of that this vid wrong is some places

next time dont use compsite cables- 3.5 mm cables next time

  • i have my mac plugged into my tv and im watching this video from my tv but i cant figure out how to set this up for the life of me. hmmm.... what did i forget?

  • Hey man. i did plug everything, but my tv shows just background of my mac. it doesnt show safari or itunes when i open them. could anyone help me out please. thanks

  • Very helpful, but didn't this guy review this video before posting? It needed better lighting, especially when connecting to the TV. And lastly this voice just drones, completely flat delivery.

For someone with this kind of knowledge his production wasn't very good, but he did deliver the information

  • i went to bestbuy today and they told me to get the hdmi connecter and i wouldn't need to buy anything else for sound. but your video says i need to get an adapter for for display and a separate one for sound. i'm confused =(

  • @0ldSkool27 the hdmi will cover both. his way is old school way that will give you iffy results.

  • not true. the hdmi to mini dvi port on the macbook pro is picture only. yes hdmi cords output picture and sound but because it is connecting to a macbook pro, it will only output picture. steve jobs is an asshole lol.

  • blink 182....ok I LOVE U...:P

  • wow $8 for that golden audio jack thing, i payed 99p for mine lol

  • @MrRastaAssassin aye mate!!!

  • thanx man that helped alot

  • great vid man helped alot keep it up

  • Thank you for sharing this, it's made it so much easier to set up

  • go with the hdmi to dvi by belkin it looks better!

  • what if you dont have a vga connection on your old t.v. set, is there another way?

  • Thanks, that was just what I needed, I couldn't figure out the sound part. I have an older macbook pro and I have to use a different connector that came with it, but everything else is the same.

  • Very good! Thanks for the video!

  • My mini dvi cable won't go all the way into the socket, any ideas?

  • If it's the white MacBook you have, then you need the Mini DVI to DVI cable from Apple and then a DVI to HDMI cable to get a digital connection to the TV. If it's the unibody MacBook then you need the Mini Displayport to DVI cable from Apple and, again, a DVI to HDMI cable.

HDMI is basically just DVI with sound.

Forget about VGA - that's like something from the stone age these days...

  • OK, I think the people at best buy told me the wrong thing, as I got the DVI to DVI to go with my adapter, and I have a picture but no sound, so you're saying that you can do DVI to hdmi and get sound also? Sounds a lot simpler.

  • No, that wouldn't work, as DVI doesn't carry sound at all - it doesn't matter whether it's DVI to DVI or DVI to HDMI. DVI is purely for video. You'll still need to route audio to the TV or to speakers separately from the line out on the Macbook Pro.

  • mini dvi hdmi? would work?

  • mini DVI to HDMI cable to HDMI in put is better then VGA because macs can support 1080p display through the HDMI cable, VGA can only support up to 720p display

    hope this helps

  • yeah but this VGA method works for older tv sets

  • Buy a dvi to vga chord and a vga to hdmi chord and then u just gatta plug em in and it will work

  • I do all this but I only get a blank screensaver and no sound!

  • Thanks man I was wondering how to get the volume on the tv, finally thank u so much

  • R u a robot?

  • what a bunch of stoners!! ha...good tho!!

  • if i do all of this, do i still have to use my mac? meaning:

if i have a wireless mouse and keyboard when i move the wireless mouse will the cursor move on the tv aswell? i wanna be able to put my laptop aside and just browse using the tv, with the mac still turned of course

  • btw i when i click on detect bottom it doesnt detect my LCD and its brand like yours ... Once i plugin the cable its just automatically comes with 1280*768 which not my HDTV's native resolution. :( :(

  • HELP plz!!! i'd like to connect my alu macbook to my HDready 32" bravia LCD via Minidisplay port to VGA cable i should have get 1366*768 but i only can get 1280*768... i did use some software but i couldnt exactly figure how to do it and its just mess wit my os.

plz help me with this ?!?!/1?!1!!!

  • yer but it wont be HD with a VGA
