dennis individualizes the WILL and PASSION that far supercedes formal training. not to say that reading isn't a good thing, but without the will, you've got nothing.
Reading music is overated. i found out that most music that i read to play...i cant feel it...because it was not natural...but having the ability to read music is a good thing. it willm set you apart and make you a lot of money...but the best jobs will already be taken...probaly by a non reader on Dennis's level. Guys like Dennis and me dont read music ...we just play it and let others learn what we've played.
once again Dennis "THE GUN" Chambers shows the total package....timing....control....some degree of difficulty....speed....hand and foot cordn.... showmanship (found time to give the camera an eye wink, gave himself a wipe down, adjusted a cymbal, took a drink of water, and started walking off the stage before he was done playing)....skilll....talent....and any other words or catch phrases you will think of. i see why he is Tony Royster Jr.'s idle.
mybe this is the key, he doesn't read it... he just feel everything possible in this mind listening the music and he explains what he thought behind drums!
Technically brilliant but a little arrogant.I've seen this man play in musical situations and he's great but the "drum clinic" non-sense is starting to cloud his musicality. He used to be a much more groove oriented drummer.I'm not knocking him because I certainly can't do what he does but it gets boring.
