avp3 2010 it's an awesome game in multyplayer, in single it's low-average, and AI it's very stupid...but i love it more rather than avp2 because of better surfaces of wall and world in with alien and predators could hide !
@lrlrb7x it'll be the gameplay. avp3 was more focussed on the aliens and predators rather then the marines in my opinion, so with this, all the gameplay would be dedicated to the marines.

I was told that it's possible to aim down the sights of the Pulse Rifle.....though there was no ADS'ing from what I've seen in this trailer.
Not disrespecting this game or anything, though. It looks pretty good. Though I will admit that ADS'ing is a vital thing in modern first-person shooters.....so long as they don't use COD as a template and thus try to be their own games instead of being a COD-derivative.
game looks fun but the graphics still look a little dated. Also, I hope that wasn't the very begining of the game because if it was the sighting of the Aliens for the first time was very anti-climatic. They need to put some cuts scene in between game play for the climatic moments like first seeing th Aliens taking a Marine and went you get into the safe house there should have been a cut scene where they assess the situation and the severeness of it.
cant wait for this game, hope it's really good. Sega usually lets me down though. I liked the AVP game from a year or 2 ago but the graphics were horrible for a 360 game and it didn't feel like it was finished. It was still fun though, and the Marine campaign with the beeping motion sensor really brought back the thrill, anticipation, and fear it had in the movie. Hopefully they really capitalize on this opporotunity and it brings about more games like this or new movies.
I hope they add some sort of aiming down the sight mechanic. I also don't like how stiff the gun animations look so I hope they fine tune that. Another thing that concerns me is the linerarity of it. Do we as players get to weld doors shut? Do we get to choose which rooms we go into to set up defense? I hope so :(
Please, please Gearbox, you gave us a heck of a long campaign in borderlands, so please make this games campaign a good 8 hour campaign at least so we can really enjoy it and don't just focus on multiplayer like everybody else does.
My argument based on this work in progress demo is that it's just people dying, the dialogue's stupid, no jumps. Feels like a boring outdated action film.

@L1VE3V1L Whilst I agree with you, we don't know how tough the materials they used to create Hadley's Hope are (unless I missed that detail). For all we know the metals and alloys used can resist large explosions.
When I first heard about this game, I thought it was going to be another mediocre game like Aliens vs. Predator. When I watched this and then the impact trailer, I was blown away. Though it sucks donkey balls that it comes out in the fall I was looking forward to a Spring release
Don't you just love it when the people of todays generation are so ignorant of the past that they believe that Gearbox entir resume is DNF... well, DNF was a corpse laying there for gearbox to reanimate, so screw that game. gearbox created the original brothers in arms, they did Opposing Force and a lot more. Gearbox are AMAZING, and i think when finally they are given the opportunity to create their dream project we should appreciate it.

wtf hows the queen back? this game is to be the sequel to the film. i remember the queen being sucked out of orbit when ripley took the queen out with the power loader to get the queen sucked out of orbit... -_- game still looks good and that new alien the "crusher".
@WerewolvesLycans *sigh* If you study up on how the Xenomorph aka "Alien" Species works, even if Ripley did blow the Queen into space and it burned up in the atmosphere on re-entry, a normal Drone can become a Queen to ensure the species and the Hive survives.
They have added more than just 1 new species. There are going to be more than just a crusher. Better weave into the gameplay well! I hope crushers are rare, and dont get on with the other aliens. And are classed as an outcast.
Awesome. Only complaint so far is just that some of the voice acting is sort of on the verge of being hokey, and the way the AI marines seem to run and walk seems a little weird, almost like they are sliding when they take corners and turns (see chase sequence with crusher).
Not saying COD is the best game ever, but the way the AI characters move in the modern warfare campaigns (such as when following soap or price) are some of the best looking and AI modeling I've seen, as far as movement.
I agree with Y2Krashman in regards to the absence of rhinos in the movie. The Crusher if included should have a good explanation as to why its there. I think that an animal lab that we didn't see in the movie would be an excellent alibi. If I were a scientist, I would bring a small Noah's Ark of animals to see how they react w/ inhabiting an extra terrestrial planet. That's the beauty of a video game. There can be so much more expansion that we can interact with & not just watch like in a movie.
Developing a game is very difficult, I know. That being said, you deserve the right to add in the Crusher if you guys want to. I actually like it. Some people don't, but everyone's entitled to an opinion. We've been seeing the same species again and again. I feel its OK to add in another new species with another new game. You guys are the ones working hard, so ultimately its up to you. I'm sure any fan would (& should) play & enjoy your game whether you include the Crusher or not.

I'd rather they used a praetorian, and reserved it for levels surrounding the nest. The crusher to me is too much like the Rhino bug from Starship Troopers the game. The rhino bug also being an invention of that game's designers...
@Y2Krashman if you look at the power loader fight in aliens, do you remember the part where the queen tries to ram the door with her head? to me, this species is pretty cool to have in this game, its not over the top, it doesnt have wings lol its a pretty fitting attribute to this kind of species of aliens, cameron really went all out with the deasign of the dome and the space for development or evolution seems logical to me just like any species
@xxraym37xx I agreed... that was something that bothered me after seeing the gameplay... I think there should be an effect pretty similar to what occurs with poison in other games!
@xxraym37xx A problem since it's a linear shooter, like CoD, Halo, BF, and Gears of War. You have to be able to get from point A to point B. It would be kind of hard to do that if you melted a 50-foot/meter stretch of the floor that you're suppose to use. On the other hand, you can't just do what Cameron did in the film; he only used the acid-blood factor when it was convenient, otherwise, he'd leave it alone. I am curious as to what kind of a balance between the two there will be in the game.
Slow creeping dread. Level design that is about tactical planning- ie, observing blueprints for likely breach-areas and then ordering your team to barricade penetrable areas, welding doors, ducts, moving heavy equip over entryways.
Team mate command: Commanding a squad of unique marines that possess non-interchangeable skillsets: engineers who weld, medics, smart-gun operators, flamethrower operators, comtechs who bypass security measures.
I personally want an intelligent tactical game. Level design switching between rescue ops to securing areas or ultimately last-stand levels, where you detail your squad to the barricading of zone. You, the player are held in suspense, awaiting to see when, and how many xenos breach your barricades. Evac, or chase levels that have you scrambling to gather your marines to one eva point, with xenos picking off crucial team-members, without whom, completing may not be possible.
If a squad-mate NPC, was killed, a rescue operation to the hive zone could be an optional level. Especially if said NPC was crucial to later gameplay. Additionally, rescue ops could also be a gamble, sometimes resulting in the rescue of an impregnated marine...
Other details: Having an APC, or Dropship where you can order the operator/pilot to drop your squad at one of numerous entry points to a level to tactical benefit, allowing you to choose the order of levels/ locations played.
@69crafty personally I think it's good to mix up the species of the aliens and when you look at this one, it's not like that silly predalien lol that thing sucked hardcore, look at alien 3 for example, different species of alien also, if you just wanna kill aliens, play the repetitive AVP game, this (as aliens being my favourite movie of all time) has so far done great justice to it, but again, just my opinion and I shall be buying this!
The runner from Alien3 was birthed from a dog (or ox depending on film version), so has good reason to have the physical attributes that differentiate it from the xenos of the previous films.
But a triceratops alien, that can deflect bullets like WonderWoman? Damn, but I don't recall the colonists having any triceratops in the medlabs, or rhinos or other zoo-species hanging about...

I know it's a WIP, but I hope they will implement the following:
1.) Ragdoll physics
2.) more dynamic animations
3.) faster, quicker and more lethal aliens
..) less cheesy voice acting :)

Don't you just love it when the people of todays generation are so ignorant of the past that they believe that Gearbox entir resume is DNF... well, DNF was a corpse laying there for gearbox to reanimate, so screw that game. gearbox created the original brothers in arms, they did Opposing Force and a lot more. Gearbox are AMAZING, and i think when finally they are given the opportunity to create their dream project we should appreciate it.

At first when I herd about this I was sort of pissed because AVP didn't turn out that great and I'm a huge fan of the franchises but when I saw gearbox was doing it...I gave the trailer a shot...and sure enoguh from what I've seen and read...this shall be a beautiful game of action, thrill, and redemption!

Awesome. Only complaint so far is just that some of the voice acting is sort of on the verge of being hokey, and the way the AI marines seem to run and walk seems a little weird, almost like they are sliding when they take corners and turns (see chase sequence with crusher).
Not saying COD is the best game ever, but the way the AI characters move in the modern warfare campaigns (such as when following soap or price) are some of the best looking and AI modeling I've seen, as far as movement.

I agree with Y2Krashman in regards to the absence of rhinos in the movie. The Crusher if included should have a good explanation as to why its there. I think that an animal lab that we didn't see in the movie would be an excellent alibi. If I were a scientist, I would bring a small Noah's Ark of animals to see how they react w/ inhabiting an extra terrestrial planet. That's the beauty of a video game. There can be so much more expansion that we can interact with & not just watch like in a movie.

Developing a game is very difficult, I know. That being said, you deserve the right to add in the Crusher if you guys want to. I actually like it. Some people don't, but everyone's entitled to an opinion. We've been seeing the same species again and again. I feel its OK to add in another new species with another new game. You guys are the ones working hard, so ultimately its up to you. I'm sure any fan would (& should) play & enjoy your game whether you include the Crusher or not.

@Y2Krashman that's the thing tho, it's a game, if you want it "old school" just watch the movie again, and who knows what they got up to in med lab when they got hold of the face huggers? the game needs to be interesting, and it's not like a radical change with this alien, I'd compare to a smaller sized queen lol I'd find it quite interesting to run from that thing : p

I'd rather they used a praetorian, and reserved it for levels surrounding the nest. The crusher to me is too much like the Rhino bug from Starship Troopers the game. The rhino bug also being an invention of that game's designers...

@Y2Krashman if you look at the power loader fight in aliens, do you remember the part where the queen tries to ram the door with her head? to me, this species is pretty cool to have in this game, its not over the top, it doesnt have wings lol its a pretty fitting attribute to this kind of species of aliens, cameron really went all out with the deasign of the dome and the space for development or evolution seems logical to me just like any species

@xxraym37xx A problem since it's a linear shooter, like CoD, Halo, BF, and Gears of War. You have to be able to get from point A to point B. It would be kind of hard to do that if you melted a 50-foot/meter stretch of the floor that you're suppose to use. On the other hand, you can't just do what Cameron did in the film; he only used the acid-blood factor when it was convenient, otherwise, he'd leave it alone. I am curious as to what kind of a balance between the two there will be in the game.

What do I want in an Aliens Product?
Slow creeping dread. Level design that is about tactical planning- ie, observing blueprints for likely breach-areas and then ordering your team to barricade penetrable areas, welding doors, ducts, moving heavy equip over entryways.
Team mate command: Commanding a squad of unique marines that possess non-interchangeable skillsets: engineers who weld, medics, smart-gun operators, flamethrower operators, comtechs who bypass security measures.

I personally want an intelligent tactical game. Level design switching between rescue ops to securing areas or ultimately last-stand levels, where you detail your squad to the barricading of zone. You, the player are held in suspense, awaiting to see when, and how many xenos breach your barricades. Evac, or chase levels that have you scrambling to gather your marines to one eva point, with xenos picking off crucial team-members, without whom, completing may not be possible.

If a squad-mate NPC, was killed, a rescue operation to the hive zone could be an optional level. Especially if said NPC was crucial to later gameplay. Additionally, rescue ops could also be a gamble, sometimes resulting in the rescue of an impregnated marine...
Other details: Having an APC, or Dropship where you can order the operator/pilot to drop your squad at one of numerous entry points to a level to tactical benefit, allowing you to choose the order of levels/ locations played.

@69crafty personally I think it's good to mix up the species of the aliens and when you look at this one, it's not like that silly predalien lol that thing sucked hardcore, look at alien 3 for example, different species of alien also, if you just wanna kill aliens, play the repetitive AVP game, this (as aliens being my favourite movie of all time) has so far done great justice to it, but again, just my opinion and I shall be buying this!

The runner from Alien3 was birthed from a dog (or ox depending on film version), so has good reason to have the physical attributes that differentiate it from the xenos of the previous films.
But a triceratops alien, that can deflect bullets like WonderWoman? Damn, but I don't recall the colonists having any triceratops in the medlabs, or rhinos or other zoo-species hanging about...
