  • Does anyone think the singer sounds a bit like tom petty?

  • UFO were/are a great band. They dont get their just due here in the USA. Same with Rory Gallagher. Makes no sense.

  • @rdp4life

Their first 4 studio albums were the best. They got the right sound.

  • rock gods. I can speak from truth since I trolled through Chicago and this band helped got me into more panties then Hugh.

  • why have i never heard this bands music before, i hear about them all the time, this is good.

  • Don't you guys agree this music is a little... cheap?

  • its got a tom petty sound on this one or did tomm get influenced by them

  • UFO is the reason I wish I was British

  • supergroupe

  • This vid was shot at the Hammersmith Odeon and I managed to blag my way in. The thing I remember most was the cases of Carlsberg special brew which was stacked up on the side and the band were great mingling with the fans partying hard.

Beleive it or not the band put on a great show that night.

Without doubt UFO are one of my favorite bands and awesome live. Chapman was a great guitar player and the band were a very tight unit.

  • I have the IDENTICAL Washburn B-20 that Pete plays in this video, I love it and it is still my most used bass and I think one of the most beautiful I have.

  • Oh how i wish they would do this live again

  • Nigga, I done been out for a strong minute - in the county jail and shit, y'all know - and so I comes out of jail to find my house smashed up and shit and I be like "Let it rain, don't start these tears again."

    Shiiiiieeee!

  • I was at the Hammersmith Oden for the Making Contact tour , Paul was great ,but Neil Carter on keys and rhythm and lead was the glue that held it together. As good as Paul was nothing compares to vintage Schenker . No one will be as melodic as Micheal ever (Lipstick Traces, High Flyer).

  • Do yourself a favor - listen to the Mechanix album from start to finish - it may actually be the stongest they ever did.

even the cochran cover is well done. Chapman is much more melodic than MS was. And Phil's voice is at it's peak.

  • @HLFFL I love this album, and I love Chapman's playing...but he's not as melodic as Schenk. In fact, Chapman era may be some of my FAVORITE era of UFO...but he's most def. NOT as melodic as Schenker.

  • @HLFFL You have a great point. Mechanix can hold it's own pound for pound..Great disc!!

  • way too comercial, i like song like lights out

  • Love the matching Washburn guitar and bass. Had an A20V myself back in the day...

  • I'm a big UFO fan but I didn't know this song.

    Such a wonderful song.

    Thank you for uploading this.

  • it came out as a single,& was on best of ufo cd. don`t think it was on a proper studio cd tho,but might be wrong? its a belting song.

  • Thank you for the information.

  • @YOSHIKIJOHN

Hi, whole album is great where this song is from... For me one of the best UFO's records "MECHANIX" (1982)... ;-)

  • yeah Phil Mogg - great vocalist and a great writer...this stuff is the soundtrack to many a lost weekend.....

  • UFO rocks I love all thier stuff

  • Wow, I had completely forgotten about this song. Awesome. I saw them with Ozzy or Rush back in the early 1980's.

  • best rock band ever!!!!!

  • the 78-88 was the rock decade . this is one of the best examples .

  • @nowherepink i would say until 94 guns was the last kick ass rock band then everything got fucked up and everytime u mention rock or they think of metal, or jonas brothers.... damn i wish i lived on those decades

  • Love Tonka

  • UFO still are a class act

  • I'm a dyed in the wool Schenker fan, but I love Paul's playing, I love this lineup. The thing that really hits me though is that no matter who they have playing for them, no matter the era, UFO has great, great songs. I could also listen to Phil sing the telephone book, all day...

  • Its like Purple without Blackmore.

  • UFO's original guitarist was Mick Bolton, So what you're saying is 'It's like Purple without Bolin'. lol

  • @UliJones Actually it's like Purple without Blackmore. UFO was a great band and now they are this.

  • UFO were a class act.

I love Chapman era, Wild Willing, Mechanix and Making Contact are great rock albums, great guitarist too.

However their Michael Schenker pentateuch was their crowning glory.

  • I've always loved UFO, they'll forever be my favorite. Their music got me through some real low points in my life! This video is an awesome find here on youtube-

  • My fave song from the Chapman era. 'Mechanix' is a great, underrated disc.

  • ufo and rainbow, the best of the best =K

  • UFO is the best rock band ever plus they are still going STRONG.

  • Saw them on this tour in '82, with Aldo Nova and Stranger as opening acts. They were great. Pete Way and Neil Carter were especially into it. Great song, btw.

  • wonderful stuff from a great album x

  • this band is so underrated! this is a real rock n' roll band long live ufo

  • thats power rock baby, hell yeah!

  • Saw UFO on the oxford road show in 81, best live band to appear on the show.

  • UFO UFO UFO UFO

  • UFO is the best all albuns and all songs listening with atention

  • sickass guitar riff. wud be much better with shenker ther

  • Never seen Tonka playing that Washburn guitar. I've had one since 1981 - it's a very cool and versatile guitar. Great to see a clip of this song, thanks.

  • The live version of this (preceded my 'We Belong' - I think) on Tombstone is fantastic!!

Great to see this vid - thank god for VHS!!!

  • Now for once in my life I can truly appreciate my Brothers love of music, I am a mother of a teenager and her music taste is different, and when she said she liked metal I thought it was like my brothers, but hell no, I love this, what a blessing to actually appreciate really good music.

  • Mechanix is one of my favorite UFO albums love it!

  • According to Rolling Stone Mag., UFO are playing a festival in Pryor, Okla. this summer. It's called Rocklahoma. A weekend thing with a bunch of 80s bands. FYI

  • super song '''''

  • Amen from Mississippi

  • UFO is one of my all-time favorite bands. Why these guys never made it big in the USA, I will never know. They had some great music - both with and without Micheal Schenker in the lineup. I really enjoyed the Mechanix and Making Contact recordings. Paul Chapman isn't Schekner but is still an outstanding musician in his own. I wish the heck they'd tour the USA - I'd LOVE to see them. Phil Mogg and Pete Way are the heart and soul of UFO, no matter who the guitarists are. Keep rocking, guys!!

  • @Melidian1 i think they never made it big in the us cos of that fucking monroe doctrin america's for yankees, doesnt matter if there are some british with good sounds!

  • @Melidian1 isint ufo just fucking GRAND lol i love em too

  • @Melidian1 Cant beat the phenomenon and force it lineup, but I agree U.f.O is absolutely the cream of the crop.

Glad to see they get due on many different levels. Peerwise and fanwise. Phil is just so badass it aint even funny. And pete is a workhorse. Waysted.

  • @Melidian1 Pete Way is my Grand Father!

  • @Melidian1 Maybe they didn't make it big because of Schenker, as Scorpions made it big without him. Schenker is an outstanding musician, but let's be honest, he was quite a problem for bands back in the 70's and 80's

  • I was at the filming for this video and the audience consisted of about 30 people. It was filmed at the Hammersmith Odeon, London. The thing I remember most was the cases of Carlsberg special brew that the band bought out for us punters to drink. Great guys and Phil and Paul casually chatted with us and downed the special brew like water and then in the evening they played a great gig.

One of the top 5 British Rock bands in my opinion.

  • I think Id appreciate Chapman more if he wouldve put more effort in his soloing. He is quite a guitarist. He just lacks consistancy. It's like he'd put 100% in just a tune or 2 per lp then kickback on the4 rest. A prme example is the intro to "Mystery Train". That's some really kicking lead work on the acoustic. The rest of that LP is just so so. Really disappointing.

  • Yep, the intro to "Mystery Train" was Awesome and then there is just mediocre playing in his leads and solos.

Great song writing though! Always a great melody and nice hook.

  • Neil Carter teaches music at my school .. awesome guy

  • fuckin hell! yer kiddin?

  • If Neil is a music teacher at your school you must be going to Brighton College.

  • UFO ..Iwas on your concert... 27 years ago great miusic, great song!!!...doctor please...

    exellent band

  • Thanks for landing soon in CALIFORNIA: San Diego, Santa Ana ( San Juan de Capistrano), Santa Crus y al final SAN FRANCISCO...

    Can't wait!!

  • We need more ufo!!! Wheres the songs, the writer, something else, terry, Does any one have these???

  • Mogg rules

  • yes he does.

  • You think Rock is dead?

    Cmon watch my Channel,

maybe you will like the music of my band!

    Peace outthere!

  • Paul Chapman's era was just a good a Schenkers. There is one common denomenator in my statement is that UFO is a great band regardless..

  • Chapman era as good as Schenkers? You must be joking.

  • wild willing and the innocent is as good as any of the schenker era albums, however I wouldn't say its quite as good.

  • That's my fave post Schenker release, "Profession Of" has a killer solo by Tonka.

  • OK, Schenkers era was the best and Paul Chapman's had it's moments, but it seemed to fit the bill at the time..

  • great song great group

  • never 'eard this one before.

    tis good :)

  • neil carter paul chapman

    good dudes

  • This clip was used in Vh1's HardRock 100 greatest artists, UFO sadly way up in the list, and they kept gushing over Schenker while playing the Chapman era clip in between short ones with Schenker! Still it was cool, regardless

  • Awesome!!! Love UFO with Paul Chapman. He rocked and had great melody and feel. Thanks for sharing!

  • LOL

  • My gosh this is awesome!! Where did you find this? Paul Chapman is soooooo underrated. Love Phil and Pete as well. :D

  • LOve paul chapman lotssssss under rated guitar player he rocks more than any one.....

  • Niel Carter is my Saxophone teacher...i think hes in this !! whoop he rocks

  • Neil Carter is in this lineup on the large Gibson, bigger then the Nuge's old Byrdlands haha!

  • haha he does hes ma uncle :D

  • i was watching this band play and i was talking to the guitarist and he actually bought this washburn that paul had pawned off and how much of a coincidence that this random guy had bought pauls guitar?? didnt believe him so i called up my dad(PAUL) and he told me the whole story now i know what guitar he was talking about!

  • LoneStar guitar's Paul? I bought the Headstone UFO LP, marking the bands 1983 breakup with this lineup and tracing the members roots. Chapman and Lonestar's song off that LP is their best in my opin

  • helll yeah!!!

  • great band love Mogg's voice

  • awesome song!! i know paul an heez an awesome guy !!

  • Those guitars are Washburns. The guitar is an A20 and the bass is a B20. I played a Washburn B20 when I was in Metallica. I also have a Washburn A20 that my friend Jimmy K gave me. See Ya! Ron McGovney

  • ha lol! ron mcgovney, the bass player!

  • I picked up a Washburn HM V20 from the pawnshop, traded a BCR Warlock NJ for it, now still at the pawnshop for a cash loan! haha

  • Absolutely superb Sir - I saw the mighty UFO at Glasgow Appolo in '82 and well remember them playing both these trax as the intro. Where the **** did you get this footage and where/when was it filmed? Is it available in the shops/www???

    Cheers

    Davy - Glasgow

  • Yeah Davy. I feel the same way. I saw the Mechanix tour at the Long Beach Arena(LA) that was the second song of the set after"We Belong To The Night". Man those were the days..Great Post. Thanks..

  • Wonderfull.. Taken back.. Neil Carter out front before his keyboard stint with Gary Moore..

  • Ohh yeaaah!

  • As I recall they Pete Way and Tonka were using Washburns on this video.

I saw them on the No Place to Run tour. Awesome!

  • what is it? is it a gibson? wish I could afford a T-bird....

  • I have the bass guitar used in this song, my uncle gave it to me

  • Everythng about UFO RULES. This band changed my life. Quite simply one of the best and most underrated bands ever to come out of the UK

  • Phil is one of my favorite singers also. Very soulful.

  • Phil Mogg, the most under-rated British singer EVER, I just love him, can hear every word he sings, which makes a nice change lol.

  • This is a rockin' video of a far out band, man!!My 2nd favourite band!I love Pete Way!!!

  • Saw them on the Mechanix tour in '82 in Sacramento, they were great. Catchy tune, great vid.

  • schenker or no schenker, they rule!

  • UFO DO NOT ROCK!!! THEY RUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUULE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D

  • UFO Rocks!!!!!
