well i think the power of the president is absolutely over rated , but i know FOR A FACT , we d have a much BETTER CHANCE AT ( american peace ) with RON PAUL instead of WHATS IN THERE!
Perfect song. KS IS right to be pissed about having to be there because of his death. JL's message will live on----sadly, it is not time for Humanity to embrace peace. It will be one day, though....
This is a significant moment and brings back some ambivalent memories for many, I'm sure. When this program originally aired it was within days after Sept 11th, and it was LIVE to the world. What originally was to be a tribute to John in keeping his music and memories alive became a tribute to New York, peace, and anti-violence, all of which Lennon of course stood for but the show became a message to terrorists and to the people of New York, especially. Spacey knocked it out of the park. YES.
The most talented Hollywood Actor, not only can he act like a God, but he can sing, dance, teach, listen, and he has the cutest charms, he is such a sex appeal and he knows it ! <3 I LOVE HIM
This is a very hard song to sing and Kevin Spacey kicked ass. He wasn't trying to sing like John, he was paying tribute to John. Amazing. I think I just fell in love a little bit. <3
Anyway, back to the actual content of the video: KS did a pretty cool job. I love the original so much, but he didn't try to copy that and i like that. He sort of did his own version.
@ronnie12398 ] He wasn't a freaking wife beater. GTFO. His ex-wife clearly stated in her book there was ONE incident when they were teenagers and dating and he NEVER touched her again. And Yoko Ono even argued back that John never once laid a finger on her. Please, John was not perfect- far from a saint- but don't label him something he wasn't.
He beat Cynthia and Yoko, dumbass. This is not a secret. I won't even get into his emotional cruelty to his son Julian. He was a good songwriter but he was a cock-end as a human being.
@ronnie12398 instead of just making it up, show me the MANY incidences where he beat Yoko and Cynthia that you know of. Because I am curious where you get your facts, seeing as I have read Cynthia's book and practically everything about Yoko. Back yourself up.
Are you mentally retarded? Google "John Lennon's marriages" - physical abuse". Even his son Sean Lennon called his father "a macho asshole" and "a pig" because of his physical abuse of Yoko and his infidelities. Stop your hero worship of John Lennon, dummy.
@ronnie12398 You are a very sad person to continuously spew negative words as if by calling me a "dummy" and saying I "hero worship" you are going to make me believe your tripe. I am fully aware of what Sean said, and that was in response to the "Lost Weekend," NOT any physical abuse of Yoko. Read the actual interview. Also, I know only of the one incident w/Cynthia, which SHE stated- no need to google some other make belief stuff. John owned his mistakes openly. But you're just creating.
I can still remember the first time I saw this. I was so blown away. I still like to come back every now and then to watch this. Still gives me chills.
Perhaps some people are too young to remember this live broadcast. perhaps some people didn't watch it. For those of us of a certain age, there seemed nothing wrong with a tribute to Lennon days after 9-11. And watching this show, with all the amazing acts, notably Cyndi Lauper singing "Strawberry Fields" in Central Park, Kevin Spacey surprising the audience with his own rendition of "Mind Games," by the end, I found there were tears on my face. And you can make fun. But it was truly magic.
@christianolson Yeah..Kevin really knew how to sing this song because it must tell something special to him...as well Cyndi, her Strawberry Fields and her Across the universe ( form another Lennon Tribute) versions for me are the best ever... For sure this one tribute was one of the best.
its years of theatrical training...being a struggling young actor in ny/broadway & such...thats where he learned 2 prolly do whatever producers & such needed 4/from their actors & such (w/in reason,of course)...as well as growing-up learning 2 both sing & act from great teachers...he played bobby darin...he wouldve also made an awesome lennon,as well...

@nellie2581 Its a long and hard way to bring peace to the world, our minds is so occupied "defending" them self that it often turns into violence for "fighting" violence. I really think its up to learn for each and everyone of us to bring peace within our self. And its not as easy as it sounds! Ghandi, Buddha or Martin Luther King did master the art, indeed!
Well thats what I had in mind actually! We planned to do our "famous" versions of Mr.Postman and other pure Lennon songs. But since the drummer and my best childhood friend died on me suddenly and unexpectedly the band broke up but I was thinking of doing it simple with just the piano and my own voice!

#1 - I don't read Dan Brown's disinformation bullshit. If you're Really curious, check out a film on google video called "Esoteric Agenda". It's a good overview of what's happening right now.
#2 - 9/11 was a false-flag operation. Committed by the gov't (with Israel). By staging a tribute, they are actually reinforcing the BS cover story about muslim terrorists. If the people knew their own gov't committed the attacks, they would be marching on Washington, not watching a concert, feel me?
Kevin's singing is brilliant, shocking even(to me, who knew) and so is his comments in the first minute, I couldn't have said it better!
That being said it's sad that this real music has so few views compared so some video about some puppet claiming to be a dead terrorist. Or a crap song from a some Michael Bay movie from 1998 which has almost 50 million views...sad indeed:(
Great comment. It's always great to hear good reports of celebrities who deserve it. We need to hear more positive reports from media coverage of celebrities.
Wow -where did Kevin spacey come from? He is unbelievably talanted in so many different areas. I find Hard to believe that 1 person can have so many gifts to share.
I've seen a lot of Kevin Spacey's work and especially liked him as "Lex Luthor" but I never knew that he was a singer also. Not bad at all. Actually very good. Plus that's not the easiest song to sing. John Lennon is one of the best singers and song writers ever and had a very unique style.
When I first saw this vid, I thought "cool, Kevin's introducing the song," but then when the music starts, no singer comes out. Kevin starts belting it! I was thinking...wow. Pure talent.
i couldn't believe it when i first saw and heard this. i was shocked at how good spacey is as a singer, especially it being a john lennon song, one of the greatest singer and song writers of all time. he also did all of the singing in that bobby darin bio pic, also very good.
OH MY GOSH!! That has to be the most gorgeous thing i've seen in ages!! Kevin Spacey is HOT!! I love watching his impersonations, acting and now singing! Jesus, talented man!
i think KS is one of the best actors ever.a la altura de pacino sorry,PACINO,what amazed me the most is that no one knew that he was suppossed to sing.he should pursue a carrer as a singer.he is a real american idol...........

He grew up in Chatsworth, CA. North of Los Angeles. Google him, you'll be amazed at his history.

This guy nailed the song. Not easy to sing and performance mark of a very well trained voice. Lennon would be been proud

pathetic -- a violation of lennon, but american-o-phile as he was he maybe would have loved this kind of "roast"

One of my favourite actors sings one of my favourite post-Beatles songs of John Lennon.
(Although I am unsure why KS was asked to do this show...)
BeatlesFan6270 2 years ago
Probably because KS is one of the most talented actors around. He's accustomed to live performances and shows, this is right up his alley.
