  • Thanks for posting this, amazing brass at 1:00 :)

  • Excellent.La meilleur version pour moi avec le Los Angeles philarmonique dans un direct disk que je posséde dirigé par Erich Leinsdorf

  • Oh christ I'm sick of people posting a million versions of Dance of The Knights- this great score has about one and a half hours of OTHER fantastic music in it too! Same with the symphonies- get over the bloody 'classical' symphony #1.

  • hmmmm... among all these videos you have I didn't notice any with Karajan...

  • finally a video to rival that of the LSO's!

  • compare this bit with the old B&W RAI recording also with the young Abbado as the conductor

  • the brass starting 1:00~ TRANSENDESCENT!!!!! Awesome!! dang, the trombones and tuba are amazing too

  • I love this music!♥

  • The horn was great and the fusion/effect between flute and violin are amazing. When I heared that at 1:45, I asked: What's that?

  • Gute Video! Ich mochte!

  • 1.23 :) yeah!

  • Emmanuel Pahud so young there... :)

  • love the basses at 1:23 :)

  • Yes I remember that just afte rI post it. I was thinking of Wiener Filharmoniker. Sorry.

  • Love this piece. Tbones sounded great ;-)

  • What year was it when Berliner philharmoniker aloud women to play? Its seems here it just one girl.

  • @Zerlina12 No, there are at least 2 in the video. Watch the person out of focus during the close-up of the harp at Pahud's flute solo.

  • @Zerlina12 There has never been an actual rule against female musicians in the orchestra. It was violinist Madeleine Carruzzo who became the first woman member of the Berliner Philharmoniker in 1982 (you can see her in this video at 1:33).

  • @Zerlina12 The harp player is also female too!

  • THE GERD SEIFERT 0:42 absolutly powerful

  • Simplemente los mejores!!!

  • Good lord, what and orchestra!

  • What's the name of the blonde female violinist who moves in and out of the picture during the harp solo? I think I've seen her in recent performances.

  • @MaxxUS08 It is Maja Avramović who joined the orchestra in 1995.

  • What is the name of the gentleman sitting next to the principal 2nd violin and which years did he serve in the orchestra? I thank you for your responses!

  • @winrx It is Hanns-Joachim Westphal, who played in in the orchestra for incredible 50 years, from 1951 to 2001.

  • @BerlinPhil is he the same one with the lucerne festival orchestra?

  • @nfamiliar Yes, he is.

  • @BerlinPhil wow! 50 years,I think for him there is not secrets in the music...great!!

  • Comment removed

  • @Treijim Does it? I didn't recognise any similarities, i'll have to check both pieces now.

  • @mooobtube oops, thats my mistake. i had another song in mind and i confused myself. sorry!

  • The part at 1:02 / 1:03 is the best! And the Berlin Phil's low brass nailed it! Absolutely wonderful! Loved the german sound added into it too! As i'm so used to it with an English/British sound :)

  • NO! The best part was just about to begin when they cut it! Awesome, btw. Those trombones (and the tuba) are amazing.

  • berlin phil brasses are awesome!

  • @mimiski9 Who would you prefer brasswise? Chicago or Berlin?

  • @murphy456 i know i wasn't asked, but i'll just throw myself at this question... at the current point i prefer berlin, but it's not that easy! chicago has better low brass, trombones and tuba, while in berlin the trumpets and horns are unbeaten! although i'm a trombone player myself but i think a magnificent horn section like in berlin makes it a whole better orchestra...

  • @mortalfrog0815 In the seventies I would have said Chicago because of Bud Herseth. Nowadays I would definitely say Berlin. Off the subject - -

    Karajan R.I.P.
