You can do this off of the edge of the stage too, not only on a platform. Just anywhere that there is an edge. You won't die because you can short hop before you do the second set of ice blocks.
Delphiki here. I actually find this very useless, because it's so much easier and faster (not to mention spacing) to just ledgecancel an Ice Block. That also gives the solo Ice Block chaser, Quad Block, or whatever else.
Advanced technique in Smash Bros? No. You pick up a pokeball or a bomb and you win.

i been new how to do this i just never saw a use for it because its like sucide to go above your opponent if u have ice climbers.

I have to try that sliding iceblock>airdodge into the platform. I hope it works. It'd make the ice blocks much more useful.

um it is pretty useful...wobbles does it allll the time.
Plus it lets you single climber Ice block chase. I just dont see the point when its on the Top platform. bottom ones would be better
