Gene is the businessman of the band. I'd bet anything that the idea of kissing on stage was his idea for promotional purposes. This was the early 1980s when Ronald Reagan was president. KISS was just trying to piss off the old,white,ignorant,holier-than­-thou "Christian" men that were running (and ruining) the United States at the time. These days,two men kissing is not a big deal.

The Elder album is very under-appreciated....there are some good songs on it.

Nothing more than that....but I don't think it was a big deal even back then, because even the public was more like "metal macho swaggers", and it could turn against them.

This isn't classic KISS, but they trying to stay alive in a no-metal music climate. I was 12 when this came out, and believe me...NO METAL. Disco was dieing, pop music was all the rage (Unmasked), and KISS was losing their way. I still love this album for what it WAS, not for what US the fans EXPECT it to be.

The Elder had better songs than the funny Sonic Boom with the impostor ACE & Funny pussy cat Peter LOL. There was at least 3-4 good songs on this record. On Sonic boom maybe 2. At least Eric Carr was not a wanna be Peter. He was unique.

I have to say, this really is one of my most favorite KISS cd's. I think if they went back to the studio and re-recorded this cd with a different, harder mix, it would/could be even better! Add in "Sword and Stone" from the Shocker sound track and re-release it! How awsome that would be.
