priceless man, a million thanks for sharing this with an old timer who was around in these days. ben never got his dues in the mainstream, but i know how much he, and this band changed things. i tell anybody who will listen about this band, and ben in particular. he spawned a whole new batch of singers, but none did it as well. neither gone nor forgotten by those who know.
Ah... The old Seattle scene. Too bad it's changed so much. Alot of the places that these bands played have long since been torn down or closed or changed into something else.
I still love the city and the atmosphere, but the times sure have changed...
@hxcbeat thats Ben McMillan. One of our best, and in my opinion the guy who launched a thousand copycats in this style of singing. check out skinyard too. passed way too soon and got the worst end of record label bullshit. but in town, amongst the old school,he is held in highest regard.
Love it. My favorite band growing up...once went to a show with a broken leg and Tim hooked me up with great seats and got to meet him and Ben. Good guys, great music. Thanks for the video.
God I wish the music scene in Washington was anything close to what it used to be in the 90s... I live in Bellingham so I guess I wouldn't know much about the Seattle music but srsly all there is here in bellingham is a bunch of fuckign indie shit
Originally it was called BassTruck, cuz there was a fixation with sounding "low" and "heavy"; Ben just decided one day he liked the word "Grunt" instead. Moments later, the dreaded "grunge" word engulfed the area like an evil virus and at that point the band was stuck with it.
I just picked up Gruntruck's self titled album from 96' (I know 13 years later right) What great music wish there was more Gruntruck and Skin Yard out there. Hey Camintosh where did they get the name Gruntruck from anyhow????????
Oh, this is just... so, so amazing!
