It's not a fuse like everyone is saying if it were the light wouldn't even flicker or come on at all where the wires plug into the ballast there must be a short that's wat mine did
What year is your Dakota. Most newer ones will need a relay harness to work properly. And yes some states are cracking down on illegal kits, but do your research and get it right the first time and you will be very happy. I did find out that in Ms anything over 8k is highly illegal no matter what color it shows. Check your local laws and have fun.
@MegaMouseSEC its a '99. this vid was uploaded in 2008. the second vid shows em working right. they failed again several months later and i pulled em out and replaced with silverstar ultra halogens. They were a cheapo ebay set. had i known better, i would've spent more on a better digital set -- probably bi-xenon in some projector lenses. Maybe on a future truck, because i definately miss the extra light output. I didnt do my research, and once again proved "you get what you pay for"...
how about you not buy a cheap ass hid kit like this and if that doesnt work get a relay harness. Im a hid sales rep and people have brought me these kinds of problems before and a relay harness will solve that.
That happens, when you have insufficient current to the ballast, Have a bulb past its service life, A defective circuit in an ANALOG type ballast (the fat ones)
i had the same problem with mine look at the bulb, and see if the igniter(the bar on the outside of the bulbe that runs from top to bottom) see if the ceramic is broken on the outside of it.
kunjiao like i said, use "only" OEM HID,such as used by vehicle manufactures such as ~~~ hella,bosch,AL,denso,koito,GM-DELPHI,stanley,PHILIPS,OSRAM/SYLVANIA,GE,KDG, don't get cheap aftermarket HID kits, they don't work well or put out good light, and break quickly or have a useless high kevlins that are way too blue/purple to see with, STICK WITH 4200 K~6000K ONLY,so that you can see well ahead of you on the road
and no HID is actually 100% legal and safer for night driving, however, some color temperatures are illegal ie. green, iceberg blue, purple and so on.
yep, dodge dakota. supposedly, non OEM HID's are illegal and some states are cracking down, but I haven't ever been bothered. Almost every other car seems to have them now.
The dealership 'claimed' it was a blown fuse. I think they charged me $2 for a replacement. But they also felt the need to change the 'multi-switch' (wipers, blinker, etc switch) and tacked on $300...I checked what fuses i could find and they were all good. Noone showed me which one(s) they 'replaced'. The tech had left once I had gotten there to pick it up.
I have the same problem with cayenne turbo. My passenger side light goes out then comes back on and says that beam dipped... Doesn't do it all the time, but yesterday the drivers side did it as well for the first time? Not sure if it is a headlight or a fuse or ballast.
i have the same problem is well on my x5 pasenger side work well but driver side is got a filinker problem can you tell me have did yopu solf the problem i have tray many things chgaging the wires ballast error canceller etc no help at all same problem on the driver side
both ballasts and bulbs work perfect on the drivers' side. its in the wiring i know it, because i plugged a plain halogen bulb in in the stock plug and it wasnt lighting up to full brightness. the blinker lights were brighter! heh
