  • nice effects Ann..great video!

  • Omg, that looks NASTY!!! That was actually pretty entertaining with all those effects..lol....Sorry bout your thumb though....eeek!!

  • Comment removed

  • you put a lot of time into this video. you should have 100 times more views on this.

  • That was one of the best videos I've seen on here and great editing.

  • oooouuuuccchh!!!!!!!!!!! uggh your thumb reminds me of harry potter, and now im afraid of picke jars O.O lol nice editing ♥

  • Nice vid

I got a bad cut when I was 3, they seem to heal better the younger you are.

  • Thank you for sharing the evils of pickle jars! ;) For real though, scary!!! Nice storytelling. :)

  • cool

  • shame that pickles are so yummy

  • oooooooooooooooo spooky (FAKE)

  • i know how she feels i cut my fenger 2 times not the little one but like hers but i didnt need to go to my dr i got lucky my mom new what to do lol lucky me.

  • That nasty evil pickle jar gave you one hell of an Owwie.....I love the muscial accompaniment.

  • Yeeeoouuucchhhh!!!!!!  1:55 ::shutter::

  • @berrysays Says he, who swallows blades. ;) And yeah. I still shutter sometimes.

  • holy ish....that's not kosher

  • Wow for the quality of the video, the montage and the effects. Sorry for your thumb, and lucky it didn't split it in two halves.

  • Something like that happen to me many years ago with a "Dulce de leche" jar.... X rays for a finger cut????... that is the first world for sure :)

  • Man, I never get tired of watching your vids no matter how many times I seen them, AnnSpade...

-your still totally awesome, and again, "ouch," about the cuts. I should tell my little mis'fortunate cut story, lol jk

--Anyways, hope to chat with ya, soon, peace

    *Lowbust

  • Why do these stories always start with "it was a dark and stormy night..." or "one day during band practice..."? Honestly! Just kidding. Wow. There's been some damage done to my body like deep cuts and such (or breaking my head open when I was 4 because I jumped up and down on the couch, did a flip and came down headfirst on the TV table), so I can guess how you felt. Wow. Glad you still have your thumb.

  • It wasn't your finger that was asleep at the hospital; it was the doctor. They're not allowed to get the sleep that they need, to do a competent job, thus, he hurt your finger. When are w, as a society, going to put a stop to this endangering of patients with sleep deprived doctors? You were lucky; they hurt a lot of people much, much worst than they hurt you.

  • This reminds me of the time I cut my hand pretty badly while working on the inside of a computer. I went to the ER and the doctor told me "That's how you get a computer virus." (face palm)

  • I'm very sorry to hear of your ouchy... my sympathies. BUT-----

    Try Bread & Butter pickles!

Really Ann... they are better than... well..... ANYTHING !!!

Try them. I have no doubt that you will thank me for turning you on to them.

I tried them years ago... then someone on Facebook told me how great they were. This was just recently. I had forgotten how good they were.

    YUMMMMMM !!!

  • @SonnyTheWhiteDwarf EXACTLY!! WT...?? And it would've made more sense if it was the first time I opened that jar w/ the vacuum seal. O_o Ah well. :)

  • An error occurred?! what the heck =(

  • @makemebad35 What?? Farkin' YT glitches. :(

  • That has got to be the sexiest accident account...in TV close-up, wind blowing through your hair...nice job. Also lovin' your new thumbnails!

  • @JohnBasedow1 Haha! It was WARRRM in my studio, John! I had the fan going the whole time and with the lights? O_o I didn't plan on having the blowing of the hair but I dig the added movement. It inspired other ideas, too. :) Can't wait to get my Spade costume made now! :D

  • @JohnBasedow1 Oh, and thank you, btw! I'm lovin' being able to use custom thumbnails. Fun to make 'em (and quick)!

  • don't you just love it when things in the refrigerator fight back?

  • @eleppek Oh, make no mistake... this farkin' jar didn't fight back. It instigated the war!! haha!

  • "I say that but no..thats not true"

    ..thats the best part..haha

  • @DMARKETTE haha! :P

  • Awesome, I finally got to click on an ad! =)

    Damn those evil pickle jars!

It usually takes nerves up to two years to hit their healing plateau.

The area of my thumb effected by the severed nerve via screwdriver still hurts when I have a fever or in extreme cold. grr.

  • @vclamp Oh you did! Niccce! (Which one! Ha! I kid!) :D Thanks for bein' awesome! :D (And in need of something.)

Whoa... your injury is affected by temperature? Yikes.

  • oowwwieees! Pickle jars are evil, and so are the cans that don't open fully so then I go to open it with my fingers. Yikes!! I will be very cautious now <3

  • @exoticjess Yes! I've done that on a corned beef can! Which btw, is evil with the whole opening with the key thing. What IS that?? Oy!

And you know what I mean, girl... corned beef and rice #FTW!

  • Evil pickle jar? Well, pickles are basically the undead zombified version of cucumbers.

  • @charlieo88 Hm. Interesting! ;P

  • I suppose it would be a safe practice to wrap a towel around the jar being opened... Or, just use a hammer. 9) Glad you are okay, Blargal would be beside himself if you were not.

  • @zqueenbean I actually have either one of those rubber grip things, a gadget that releases the vacuum seal from jars (much like a bottle opener), or a towel! :)

  • lol,perfect picture upon curse..hi annababe

  • @markeymonk Hi!! :)

  • it looked like a big deep wound to me!

  • @saturateu Ugh... it was horrid to see my flesh sliced from my thumb like that. *shivers*

  • I am dropping my current script and starting on on my next blockbuster "Night Of The Killer Pickle"

  • @msinthrop hahaa!! Too funny!! :D

  • Awe man, Im not eating pickles until they go to plastic jars! THATS IT!! (as if I liked pickles!) lol! I could send you some photos of my thumb, I broke my thumb off at the hammond bone and my coach promptly taped it up and sent me back into the game! lol! Not sure which is worse a snapped off thumb or a broken electric bass string sliver!!! OH the joy of pain! :o)

  • @jjmazee You broke it OFF??? Like OFF off? Or just the bone inside? Yikes!

  • Attack of the killer Jars lol I am glad you are alright. Nice editing too :-)

  • @TooFreakingRelaxed Haha! Thank you! :D

  • Ouch! Sue the evil pickle jar company!

I cut my thumb like that too. I had the same sensation, that it was asleep. Its fine now though.

  • @Brianswers I get that a lot. I just count my blessings, Brian! I'm tempted to share the vid with the pickle people just to share but... meh. :)

  • Oh dang, that's a pretty legit cut - yikes, Ann! I think I'll just wear rubber gloves every time I open a glass jar from now on :)

  • @jghue Yes! Rubber gloves is a great idea among the many alternatives I now use. haha!

  • It did not sterilize the wound but as the whole idea of vinegar is to preserve the pickles, the chance of an infection from that stuff is zero.

So.. what settlement did you reach with the pickle company? ;^)

  • @PuppyZwolle Makes sense!

  • 1 800 lawyers,then sue the pickles out of them,product libality claim !!!

  • @daewooparts Well, this was about 5 or 6 yrs ago. If I were to ever file a claim (which I have no plans to) it would likely be too late. :)

  • have had a few cuts like that some had stitches and some just butterfly stripped , both hands have had them , my left one has had big slices twice , one from cooking and the other one just shappening my knives getting them ready . I am alot better with the knives now to many scars and the docs all yell at me now to quit cooking or pay better attention .

  • @RobertxJenks Yes! Pay attention and be carefy!

  • funny how I was watching this and there is screaming outside my window....

  • @neda0811 Ooooh... freaky! :)

  • All the pickles I have encountered in my life have been nice and tasty! Maybe this is like the Bermuda Triangle? Scary but rarely encountered. EAT MORE PICKLES!!

  • @trime1851 Oh, pickles are yummy! Kosher dill pickles! I still eat them and same brand, too. :)

  • Scared me.

  • @robertraybishop The cut or the effects? haha! ;)

  • That HAD to hurt like heck once the adrenaline had dissapeared.

  • @JockoBarbone When the cut happened it literally felt like a papercut. I barely felt it. It was kinda eery the way it all went down. The sound of the glass slightly sliding on itself then liquid everywhere and blood... that was the scary part. Oh. That and when I rinsed of the cut I was able to lift my flesh. BLECH!!

  • A long time ago a friend told me how he was washing the inside of a glass cup with a regular sponge when the glass broke. It sliced his hand up badly. Blood everywhere. Since hearing that I only wash glass cups with a sponge on the end of a long handle. It was just a random thing. This video reminded me of that. I still have a scar on my thumb from when I fell backward into metal venetian blinds when I was a teenager. Not because I'm clumsey. I was pushed.

    EdElisea 06/24/10

  • @EdElisea Ewww... not nice! Owies!

  • Ouch!

  • @kamisue21 Oh... totally. Be careful with glass anything! :)

  • I am so glad that you got better, that sounded like a very painful experience.... ewww

  • @sunsetlover The initial cut seriously just felt like a papercut. The blood and mess was scariest... until the butterfly bandage 5 hours after swelling. O_o

  • I think all glass jars in general are evil!!!

  • @halfdollar123451 Glass really is! I just saw an ad for glass straws. O_o Um. No thanks!

  • @annspade Glass straws? Really? Thats a lawsuit waiting to happen!!

  • All you Had To Do Was To Put A Little Neosporin And Walk It Off. Ain't No Need For The ER!! LOL The Pictures Weren't That Bad. Not Graphic Enough For The Warning Actually LOL

  • @WuTangMan3699 It was more than a simple neosporin cut. My flesh was sliced... deeply. Doc said it was a good thing to come in and have it checked for glass and that they could do stitches to bring the flesh back together (about 3/4 of the "meat" was severed) but the slice was so clean a butterfly band would likely work. I don't think pics were bad at all... but some people can't even look at even a tiny cut. *covering bases* :D

  • 0_o this was amazing

  • @crazydude0101 Thank you!! :D

  • It'll probably take years to get the full feeling back in your thumb. I cut a good chunk into my finger with a sword and the spot is still numb after 4 years.

  • @NathanDewey Don't think it'll ever be the same. :) I have feeling... just feels like my nerves were rearranged. haha! This happened about 5 yrs ago, actually. Found the pics and wanted to share! Thank you for watching, too!

  • I loved the editing in this, the color and the music together were fantastic!

    That looks so painful! :(

  • @therealCiCa Awesome! Thank you for the positive feedback, CiCa!!!

  • I did the exact same thing to my right thumb in the exact same spot as yours! I still have the scar to prove it. For the stitches, the doctor had to kneel on my arm to stop me from moving because it hurt so bad giving the injections. That was probably one of the most painful things I ever felt. Getting the 5 shots of novacaine right in the gash. Ouch!

  • @oconano UGH!! Why do that DOOOO THAAAT?? I'd rather pay to be sedated!!! And whoa... same thing! Was it the same brand?? haha!

  • @annspade It was a jar of pickles! My jar had a hairline crack in it being held together by the label. I went to twist it and the jar came apart in 2 pieces and sliced my thumb right open. It was just nasty how when it stopped bleeding all the internal tissue was kinda swelling up and pushing out. Looked like the guts of my thumb sticking out. Don't worry. after about 8 months you will get the sensation back in your thumb. lol

  • @oconano Oh, eow!! Sounds like your injury was worse! Mine was a cleaner cut (thankfully) so though I did see a little flesh peeking out, it wasn't like entrails all mangled up! This was 5 yrs ago or so, btw. I found the pics the other day and wanted to vlog about it for a sort of PSA. (Truly!) Not a fun experience! For you, even worse!

  • LOL CURSE THAT EVIL PICKLE JAR!!!!!

man i love your editing ! :) its like awesome and very suspenseful

  • @Guitarboi619 Yay! Thank you for the feedback on the editing!! :D

  • this is good video

  • @colbert6 Thank you so much! :)

  • well you should at least tell them what happened. You might get a free jar of pickles out of it.

  • @Majoofi Actually... I just may do that. ;)

  • @MissAkaPolly It happened a few years ago. I found the pics and decided to share. :) Thank you! My finger healed wonderfully. Just feels a little odd. :)

  • owie! my god glass is evil! the worst is you never realise you've been cut before you see the blood (or that's how it is with me)

hornestly, beware og kitchens... they are evil I swear! most of my worse accidents happens in our kitchen (like dropping 400 dl of hot candle wax over my hand without even touching the glass it was in)

  • @77Flower77 OUCHHHH!!! Hot wax is NOT nice!!

  • nice vid

  • @mapleloaf67 Thank you!

  • ha ha like the ending, they should make them with that new plastic made from vegetable oil. They're very good for the environment.

  • @itsrichardbd Nice!!! Never heard of that! :)

  • @annspade yeah just heard it from my teacher like 2 months ago.

  • Mayo Jars are evil to!

  • @1c2a3i4t5l6y7n I believe it! I'm trying to purchase any plastic alternatives (recycleable, that is). :)

  • That made me cringe.! Good vlog though. :-)

  • @MainCharacterChannel Still makes me cringe to see... only 'cause I also felt it! Yikes! Thank you! :)

  • That sounded really unpleasant. I'm glad you're ok and that it wasn't more serious.

  • @lordcoyote2000 Thank you! Me, too! :)

  • Owie! Now I'll be wary whenever I open glass jars. Thanks for the PSA, glad your finger is better, bummer that it's lacking sensation.

  • @P00P0STER0US YES! Be VERY wary! :D I feel sensation to it, just in an odd way. Like I can tell my nerves healed in different areas. haha!

  • @annspade Wouldn't it be so crazy if somehow the interpretation of nerve signals got totally mixed up in the brain? So chewing food felt like walking barefoot through grass, and taking a pee felt like combing your hair, etc. Lucky our brains usually get things right. I'm glad our eyes and ears get it right too, and that vision and sound doesn't get mixed up.

  • @P00P0STER0US That's actually the reason why experimental medicine is so careful with testing regrowth of severed nerves... actually it's most likely you'd experience pain first, as that's the most basic sensation. Last to go, first to come back. The brain seems to be able to rewire itself quite well though.

BTW, that was a helluva deep gash... "Death by pickle jar" would look pretty weird on a newspaper headline. *grin*

  • so you gonna sue the pickle jar company?

  • @Majoofi No... I'll file it under "freak accident". It's glass so it may have happened during shipping. :)

  • Holy crap. PICKLE JAR OF DOOOOOM!

  • @momentum27 EXACTLY!! :(

  • you're awesome.

  • @NaraGal YOU are for appreciating my stuff. :) Thank you!

  • DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANM!!! you are hard core!!!

    Peace,Ace77man

  • @ace77man Haha! Only by force, apparently. ;)

  • Hmm ok... we have to give the Thumb a Nickname now.... Thumbs Up if you think it needs a nickname. (No Pun Intended at all.)

    Keep on YouTubin!

  • @kiddsock haha! Let me know what you come up with! Oh, and got your email. I'll send images for the banner! THANKS, 'SOCK!!!!! ♠♥u

  • Holly molly....Frenemies...? that cut looked brutal,...ouch. I hate jars of stuff in general, i empty them into other containers, to save the havoc of opening them,...or throwing them against the wall. great video as always,....!!!

  • @deltabluesboy10 Frenemies are friends who are also enemies. They take away your trust and loyalty but stick around just enough to be nice and know you. haha! It was truly a brutal cut! Thank you for the compliment! :D

  • That is messed up with the pickle jar ooo that is a cut. I have trouble trying to open certain jars when they so done up tight.

  • @BarryAldridge Barry, there is a cool gadget (inexpensive, too) that looks almost like a can opener but it releases the vacuum seal in jars so you can open them with ease. It's a GREAT investment (albeit very small one)! :D

  • @annspade Thats brilliant, I may check it out.

  • Awwhhhh Poor Ann!!! ps the effects are fantastic!!!!

  • @halfdollar123451 Oh yay!! Thanks for noticing the effects!! :D

  • @annspade they were great :)

PS I think all glass jars in general are evil!!!

  • Ann, mega-kudos on the editing! Two big (non-injured) thumbs up! I know how hard that was, and all the talent you have to have and time you had to put into it to make it that good.

    Very, VERY impressive! :-D

  • @DaleATL2 YOU have always noticed my editing schtuff, Dale. I love, love, love that. So far only 3 or 4 comments regarded the editing (yours included). That took TIME! haha! Glad you're impressed! I know you know editing well so thanky!!! ♠♥u

  • i shall NEVER look at pickles the same way again. ever. my god ann...what have you done!

  • @TheDasha92 Hopefully it served as a PSA (public service announcement to those who didn't realize what that meant) for people to be careful with glass... anything! :)

  • wow what a crazy story :(

  • @JnAStudios Truly! It was a surreal moment for me for sure!

  • Great vlog and great effects! I need to spend time maximizing my editing software. I lag in that area.

  • @erniesbudolab Thank you so much for the editing feedback, Ernie!! :D I love when people do that. Especially since the time is taken for each step!

  • Sugar coated pickles, I think you are onto something.

  • @darktoadthesticky Hm... Sweet n' Sour Pickles! ;)

  • awe look at you with your custom thumbnail! Ann Spade Partnership FTW!

  • @iCrazybitchtv RIGHT?? I LOVE that I can do that now! I created the thumbnail before I edited the video. hahaha!! :D Now THAT'S the partnership stuff. Thanks, girly girl! ♠♥u

  • Sent the Video to the makers of the Evil Pickle Jar, they will sent you a box of Evil Pickle Jars for comesation.

  • @rubyfall Haha! Never thought of that. :) I even called 'em out in my vid. I still buy the same pickles (and brand), btw. :)

  • I blame dat damn pelican who sounds like Groucho Marx!

  • @nezpercenathan ?? Well, wasn't that a random thing to say. haha!

  • @annspade They have a cartoon pelican who does ads for Vlasic. He has a voice similar to Groucho, and sometimes holds a pickle in the same fashion in which Groucho used to hold a cigar. Come to think of it, he may be a stork instead of a pelican, with some vague connection to pregnant women craving pickles, and storks delivering babies. He says "That's the best tasting pickle I ever heard!" when someone crunches a Vlasic. He's responsible!

  • @nezpercenathan OOOOH! That's right. Doy. My bad! I knew that! *slaps head* Only yes... I thought it was a stork, not a pelican. :)

  • I HATE PICKLES. This has no bearing on anything, it's just true. I'm glad their stupid juice saved you, though. :)

  • @Smush21 Haha!! "Stupid juice". I may write a song about that! :D You hate pickles?? Girrrrrrl... I heart them.

  • SANTA MARIA! thats an ugly cut and man... you are really beautful

  • @millitaryjoe It really was a nasty cut! Freak accident for sure! I'm always pretty careful when I open jars and this broke WAY too easily. I barely used strength. (And thank you for the compliment.) :)

  • HAHAHAHAHH anyone notice the soccer symbol on the lower right corner, next to the video quality thing:P??? press it

  • @SlowRice What IS that?? Scared me senseless when I pressed it! It's evil!! Just like my pickle jar!! hahah!!

  • @annspade hahaha:P its the vuvuzela's everyone at the fifa soccer world cup hates..you probably hear why..

  • All jars should be banned .. far too dangerous!!

  • @iggy35 I'm glad they're moving to recyclable plastic containers now. Especially the larger ones at wholesale stores (like Sam's Club)!

  • EVIL PICKLE JAR!!!!!!!!!!

  • @008wombatable YES!! >8D

  • With all of the grief that pickle jars - and pickles themselves have given me - I may never care to eat pickles again.

Unless I could get lucky and happen to find them in a can. ~_~

Sorry about your finger, Ann! :(

  • @DayMare2000 Oh! Lots of bad experiences with pickles?

  • 3/4 through the thumb. I hope you got another free pickle jar from that company. But 5 hours.... Man, that is like the local IHS here... (Indian Health Service)

  • @FriscoTheNavajo Haha! Yeah, it was a loooong time. Good thing is while in the ER more threatening cases were led in more timely. I'm okay with that. And yeah! 3/4 of thumb!! I didn't pursue anything with the company and chalked it up as a freak glass jar (or evil)! That's what happens with glass and couldv'e happened during shipping.

  • i cut my thumb once with a potato peeler, at works years ago i was a cook. not anywhere near as bad as yours but pretty bad, it was a nice clean cut, it took a chunk of my thumb off with the potato peel it didnt hurt at first. i looked at it and the corner of my thumb is just flat . you can see each laying of skin. the hole was about the size of this zero 0(the blood itself) it took a good chunk than it just started gushing everywhere. .but hey i never cut myself with a knife.

  • @scootsie119 Oh... ooooouch! That would hurt! One of my close friends worked in a deli way back and she was slicing lunch meat in one of those machines where you pull & push to slice both ways. She caught her pinky in the same fashion you caught yourself with the peeler. Her pinky looked flat and wouldn't stop bleeding for HOURS! It was open flat with no skin to fold over and blood wouldn't clot. O_o

  • i just want to kiss you on the lips. your so fit

  • @jonnycoyle Thanks for the compliment, Jonny. :)

  • i say sue them ^.^ unsafe jar!

  • @MrJimmay Well, that would cost money and take lots of time. I'm just grateful all ended well. Now if it severed my thumb... I may not be so lazy! ;)
